There's no other player that can improvise within the exact same spirit in which Jimi created the song. Repeating the song as written is excellent work, but unless they've had background similar to Jimi's, they can't comprehend the subtleties that the original was written. Eric has lived it and we're all extremely blessed for the opportunities that were necessary to bring him to this moment - even just in video form. He's not just something else, he's beyond.

All of Jimi's guitars were right handed flipped over. The difference with Eric is he doesn't bother to restring them top to bottom like a normal guitar should be, the way Jimi always did. Eric's bass strings are on the bottom, not the top. That makes it one kick ass novelty to be able to play it that way and pull off what he does 'best' but really that's the way he learned, using his 2 older brothers guitars and not fooling around with them. I've met him several times here in Memphis and saw him play on Overton Square when he just a kid. He's actually 8 and half years younger than me but a much older soul. Dig!
Eric Gales RAWKS!!! - sure he's one of the best Blues players in the world but I love it the harder he gets! It takes epic talent to play the wide range of all he can with the refined expertiese of a RAWK LEGEND!
