I wouldn't say soul. His voice is too pristine to be soulful, those old blues singers sound rough and raw and hoarse. He just sounds like your average American idol contestant or church singer
I was thinking the same thing. I know a lot of people are coming on his guitar playing and is singing, but just a drummer and bass behind him! They are not getting enough credit by the people. That drummer is on fire and like you said the basement is on point. They are right in the pocket
@@jaimeastin I find it personally so much better, as far as a listening experience goes, and much more pleasing when you can follow all the instruments at once. That bassist has the magic touch, in the background when he needs to be, and loud and proud when he should be. Tone is amazing, and just sonically in tune. I could listen to that all day. And I mainly listen to METAL. As a guitarist myself I generally don’t focus on the guitar in the song too much, but what’s behind the lead that makes it sound extraordinary.

I love finding newer videos of songs kingfish has already done just to see how much hes progressed and how spicy the tunes have become. When he started jamming redbone and old town road I just started laughing, this kid is something special.
In another video I have "Love Ain't My Favorite Word" he plays the old Nickelodeon theme and I about passed out laughing at that. He said he throws that in every show in hopes that someone asks about it

My guitar teacher told me once that people were not "better" than others, they just practiced more. He was wrong.That was 20 years before this kid was born, and 40 years later, can't even touch this in my wildest dreams. Kingfish has pure innate talent that I'll never have. Every note was perfect. Not just played perfectly, but it was the the note that HAD to come next.

Just because you've played longer doesn't mean you've practiced for more hours or more effectively. Saw Christone in Sydney last night. I always thought he was bloody good but man - he just blew us away at The Factory Theatre. The Bluesfest crowd won't know what hit them. Now I can finally have my "I saw a future superstar when they first toured" story ...and only a week after he won his first Grammy. Thanks Kingfish for keeping the blues alive. I've consumed a LOT of content over the history of UA-cam, a great many of which being talented guitarists. Trust when I say you've definitely got the stuff man. Technique is always good to have but your sense for intonation is absolutely killer. The only reason you haven't blown up is chance. I have no doubt that you will.
The only way to make it in the music industry is to sell your soul. All famous music legends are in the club. This guy is better than that, he doesn’t need that. If he knows what’s good for him, he’ll stay right at the bottom. You don’t want the fame, I promise you that.

I’m all about metal….BUT, I grew up in New Orleans and know good blues when I hear it and this kid can jam. He feels it…I haven’t been home to Louisiana in a long time but live in another blues town up the Mississippi….I’m sure a lot of you can figure out the city.
He tours, but if you can make a trip to Mississippi for a few days in April, the weekend of the 23rd I think, I will guarantee you will not be disappointed.

the thing i love about ingrams playing is the hints of jazz lines he puts in his blues licks. they fit so well and they’re a very unique thing.
