Yessiree...I too find nothing more soothing than a combination of jump-scares and caffeine.
A good horror is not what you see, it's what you don't see... it makes your imagination go to places you don't want it to. This movie was excellent.

Your right about that because in movies when you see the ghost too early it ruins it OK for jump scare but like anything you need to build suspense and fear in the mind of the viewers.
👍FYI I just read she won 3 best actress awards for her acting in this movie and did her own stunts. The film crew lived in this house as they were filming.

Oh and I also love how the script dispelled stereotypes - as usual she went to shady- looking neighbour seeking answers like maybe someone was murdered there BUT turns out the neighbour had problems of her own!
Give all the actors a big thumb up. Excellent story. Really spooky though there's no spooky faces or bloody scenes. Highly recommand!

Living in such old houses , I will never because I have already experienced horrible things and trying to move out was impossible.. I failed to find the other for five months until someone helped me in prayers.

This movie was well done. Excellently written, eerily suspenseful, intelligently thought-provoking, & gripping from beginning to end. And that's how it should be watched. It's well worth it & I strongly recommend this one!

Just watched The House on Pine STREET, I loved it. It reminded me of Rosemary's Baby.
One of the few movies that could scare me even with scenes in broad daylight. Very well done and great acting.

The ending should have been that the husband got hurt badly only and when he got better he was continually sorry and apologetic to her having realised she was right all along and _immediately_ decided to return to Chicago.
In fact this is in my memory of what happened first time l watched _so this change is a Mandella!_
But, funny thing is that the scene cuts right from the Chiropractor's house to the husband's, after the Doc asks: what's stopping you?
The husband is stopping her, that's why he dies! Her energy is triggered right away when the doc shoots the question. So crazyyyyyy ! I looooved it

She saw him as an obstacle she hated him unconsciously for ruining her life baby moving etc she removed the obstacle it wasn't the house it was her..

But...I think it was her...the old guy asked her "what's stopping you from leaving" boom..and now he's dead. It wasn't the house..it was her. The house didn't follow her around to scare her..

I've worked in a little town like this, where THE STARERS gape at you, with those blank expressions......I called it "Witchy Town"......yes, I did leave, and felt a huge relief inside me.
Always listen to that 6th sense.....it may well save you.
I was pregnant twice and I know no one can scream so hard or run as fast as that woman in the movie did.

I didn't like the video,ended sad cause husband died. Don't know if it was her energy or a ghost.only saw things movie. Don't know if it was a dead family before. Or was a pregnant woman before. Just left confused

Great acting, worth a watch, ending could have been less ambiguous but as i say, worth a watch definately.
I'm ten minutes in, the mom that shows up without calling, then is automatically having a house warming party in the house without asking if it's ever wanted, don't ever be like this mom...
She is the worst
And invites mostly her own friends. SOME of the daughter's. She's a real piece of.....I'm gonna say 'work' but it wasn't my first choice of word
I noticed people starring at her and then later a young girl was starring at her. Makes me wonder if her own mother was telling them stories about her daughter. The husband was really mentally and emotionally abusive to his wife and lied to her about going to live in Chicago; such a mean and deceitful husband.
@@pegstewart4484 The best acting was the wife, the husband's acting didn't match a nonexistent trust, it must be a chemical imbalance in her and logical explanation. He just didn't pull it off for me. In real life, there are real ghost stories of the one important person in the home not seeing anything, or not believing until later when it escalates, the narrative is a given
There is always an explanation for everything, and sometimes the explanation is that the house is haunted.
Or gass sipping up from the ground and into the houses making people paranoid and seeing things like LSD.
There are in fact natural types og gasses the has that effect.

For once a horror movie that wasn’t far fetched and laughable. I enjoyed this movie as I believe in the paranormal and spirit world. Walter was right, some houses do have an energy. I also thought that Jennifer looked like Kate Winslet.

@@TyMiller-md7jt As I said, I believe in the paranormal and this movie was a bit more authentic compared with most supernatural movies. There wasn’t anything special about it but I thought it was well made. I have also felt my late parent’s spiritual presence and believe the afterlife is real.

At first I thought it was going to be like Rosemary's baby. As it progressed it looked like Luke should have been married to the mother in law , what a jerk. It was a good movie but a strange ending.

This is a real thing. Old/Abandoned houses are always haunted n the creatures living there tends to tease those (humans) who comes n lives there bcz after being abandoned for so long it becomes like their properties. So everyone should avoid buying an old/abandoned house or property.
Loved this movie - it had me in suspense. First I thought there was something up with the mother and the husband, they were in cahoots, I was very weary of the girlfriend as well. Sometimes the mother was really nice and other times she was mean and nasty. It left you thinking, that's for sure. The husband was no help at all.

I watch a lot of horror. A LOT of horror. This is surprisingly good. Some of the performances don't gel and it's a bit long for my tastes, but if you're in the mood for a slow burn with a stellar performance from a leading lady, give this one a go.

This had some "try to stick with it" points, but I'm glad I did. I enjoyed this a lot, but will say the resolution was lacking to me. That said, I'm glad I watched this!

Don't people just hate it when they see spirits or entities and get disbelieved and told it's all in the mind or make believe or just craziness or just wanting attention. People should be open minded and be more sympathetic to those that see and feel what others don't.

Don't you just hate it when someone insults your intelligence ? It's like gas lighting and brainwashing all rolled into one. Husband, none supportive and selfish. Mother, an over assertive control freak. Cowardly ghost, no show just a lot of noisy drama. I hurt every time poor Jennifer fell, dragged around the house, thrown down the stairs, amazing she didn't miscarry her baby.
I must say this movie is something else. The last bit when she drives by the Chiropractor's house and he slaps the taste right out of her mouth...SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! A real tongue lashing 😓😓

Sometimes I like these lower / grade budget films. Less special effects etc make it more real. Like the movie "it follows", comes across pretty D grade but the concept stuck with me for days 😱. I definately think Jennifer was more susceptible to this kind of occurrence, she obviously had a lot of "inner demons" and negative energy. I was quite taken with Walter's view point and I wonder if Jennifer had tried to make some sort of peace with herself if things would have changed? However in saying that (having grown up with a narcissistic/ bipolar mother among other negative and abusive events), it's not always that easy to just "change", each person has their own journey, and energy definately could have triggered something in that house. I'm very open minded so who really knows? I quite enjoyed it anyway 😊
Her negative feelings towards moving to that house was building up with all the negative energy which was already present in the house and in the end she killed her husband with that energy cause she really wanted to move back to chicago.she got what she wanted

Anyone else find this movie quite similar in 2-3 other movies of this genre? I watch so many movies that I can’t remember the names of at least two. Couple “temporarily” moves to the country in an old house that has history. It’s good for him, but she can’t wait to get back to her career in the city. She’s pregnant. She gets all the ghost/energy nonsense, he doesn’t. She meets an old likable fella that’s a friend of the family described as a medium, but he denies. She looks for him later, for help, but he’s actually not as friendly/helpful as she hoped…
This movie isn’t scary at all, only because it’s too obvious and again, too similar to a few others. 20 mins in, I found myself fast forwarding thru to find out if I was right about what to expect. And I’m right.
Would have been good, if I hadn’t already seen the other movies first.

The husband was a complete useless jerk even when he thinks he's helping. Why is she even married to him.
My theory
She had grown up in this town with her narcisstic. Mother. Thats y she wants to leave this town and go to chicago. You can see how arrogant her mother was on her. Her husband also started to deceive her with her mother. He never cared about her feelings. He always accused her fpr not being happy with things he gave her. The karma played its roll. Her mother became dead when she left her.

House is haunted, positive and negative energies both exist we either effect the environment or the environment affects us. She didn’t kill her husband, the distance he landed too far from the window, no human could push someone like that. Enough said. If you don’t like a house,” for whatever reason don’t move in. Simple.
the whole time they were there, the season never changed or moved forward. Its as if they filmed the whole thing in a couple of weeks, the peony buds never opened.
