Vinnie yes they work I'm 71 and those squirrel calls work they been around for some time I had one back in the 70s and they worked them it was a little squeeze call I use to 4 to 5 squirrels in one sit down In lower St. Bernard parish when they had beautiful hard woods tks for the video
I've used them successfully on gray squirrels in Pa and pine squirrels in Alaska. I didn't "blind call." Just used it to get them to expose themselves.
Who would have thought we'd click on a Vinnie video to see him playing with squeaky toys like a big ole puppy dog 😂😂. All to get some tree rats to eat 😂.
OK j just played rge squeaky sounding call so my mom could hear it. My dog jumped and thought it was his toy then came running to look for the toy 😂😂😂😂
Yep I use one. When you shake (Chatter) it that is the alarm call for immediate danger. You sometimes here them do this when they are being chased by a predator or aggressively chasing one another. The high pitched squeal is a young squirrel distress call or when one is caught by a predator. The Bark is used as a hey I'm over here this is my spot, but I've seen them do it as an alert warning too. You can tell what type of squirrel you're looking for by it's bark. If you hear barks that start fast then get slower with a wheeze at the end, it's a grey or black phase grey. If you hear bark that starts out slow and then gets faster with no wheeze at the end its a fox squirrel. I find knowing the barks helps to know what I'm looking for color wise. Fox and Black Phase greys are easier to spot than a grey. I hope this helps.
@PelicanBoneOutdoors i had to climb in the attic to prove there's no squirrels in her house lol bc she didn't believe me when I said it was on my phone so I blame Yu🤣
I've used them before to get them into a tree, often if they're just on the other side of a ridge and I know I'd make too much noise trying to walk up. Those calls will get them to run up a tree and look around. I've used the edges of two quarters before to "calm" an area down if I've spooked a squirrel on my way in. I think they perceive it as another squirrel cutting a walnut like nothing's unusual, and they seem to come back out to forage a little quicker than if I were to sit quietly and wait them out.
That looks like August in our timber. Amazing the difference between forests in our country by where ya are. Good luck. I have had some success with squirrel calls but not much.
17:03 that’s exactly when you hear a squirrel barking. That’s an alert when you were hitting that car really hard you were sending them into a high alert. You need to learn to hit it once or twice go out and listen to the squirrels. Don’t go hunt them just listen to them, go somewhere where they don’t allow squirrel hunting and listen to the squirrels. That’s literally the best way to learn. I’m sure you know that though. Thanks for the video.
It’s mainly for dog hunting I believe? 😂. It’s an alarm cry. When you’ve got one treed and he’s hidden too well, in a nest, or in a hole using the call will make him peek/come out. I’ve been dog hunting for nine years and it works at least 25% of the time which is to say pretty good.
Don’t need to buy a squirrel call when you’re born with one flatten your tongue out so it touches the side of your teeth on the top your mouth and suck. It should break the seal and make a clicking noise just practice it and keep doing it faster and you’ll get it to sound right
I agree they work but the quarters work much better. I’ve had to call make squirrels turn their head or shake their tail, but the quarters have had them come running.
It’d be interesting to see if that call worked on any other species. Maybe at a coffee and beignet shop. It might attract a beautiful woman. It would work if you had confidence and believed in yourself.
Try sneaking to where you hear the tree rats 🤣 but tasty are barking and head that way….sit down for a few minutes then use the call but just bark once or twice….they can’t stand it and will come out to investigate, kindda like Boudreaux’s wife……well never mind. I used to hunt squirrel in Sorrento La. At an abandoned drilling rig….huge Red Squirrels. Enjoyed the video Vinny….take care buddy. Have a great week. 👍🇺🇸🙏
I'm so done w/ this heat & humidity 🥵 looks like we have a decent front coming on the 19th 🙏💜 I'm not going cast netting again till these bugs go back the hell where they belong 😂
calls do work after hunting close to 60 yr the main thing learned squirrels will bark at anything but if he starts wheezing its game on he has spotted U he will lay up flat top of a branch and start wheezing because he is a ventriloquist walk slow toward sound as u get closer wheezing will get much lower making it sound like he's in a distance when he's in the tree next to u if he quits wheezing and u haven't spotted him walk slowly away and he will start his game again. hope this helps improve your squirrel hunt. cannot hunt anymore but sure enjoy videos
The calls you are making are ALARM calls. They will let you know if squirrels are close but not come. Danger Call. I have better luck with the whistle they make while sunning.

Years ago I called in a squirrel by rubbing the knurled edges of 2 quarters together.
My brother taught me that when I was like 6 I sucked at it but still got some to come in even as a kid thank you for bringing those memories back 😂

Waylon did the same thing. Lol
@@PelicanBoneOutdoors 😂😂😂
I found they work to let you know if there are squacks in the area. The 2 quarters trick works pretty good, too.

Them calls must work pretty good bc my mama sure thought there was a squirrel in her house🤣
😂😂😂

I used a sears push call years ago and a Primos now and it works great.

That’s a good idea.
Need some good ole south Louisiana deer hunts on this channel Vinny only thing that’s missing but love the content!!!
Total game changer, a now must have for my arsenal. Great video brother, God bless and see you on the next one.
Had 1 yrs ago. The way you are using it is the alert call. If you shake it, its sounding a chase call.
ery entertaining, as usual. from you. Thanks I needed this one
Glad you enjoyed it
Cousin Vinnie! Me and daughter #2 chased after some tree rats this morning. Missed a ton but found some good deer sign.
Good stuff
Enjoyed I love watching your videos their so entertaining and real 🔥💯✔️
I appreciate that
Both of my cats came running when you started with the squirrel calls
😂😂😂
I have had the same caller for years and never really gave it a chance. Maybe I should jump back on it for another try. Great video sir.
worth a shot

Makes sense.
Much love from Birmingham Al
Leaving in the Morn to SE Louisiana. Can't wait
Love the videos southern boy in Vegas
👍👍👍
You could probably call a turkey with that. 😁
Get them to gobble at least.
I used the two quarter trick for almost 50 years now always worked or a piece of grass between your thumbs.
That was cool. Enjoyed
Watching the video and Waylon just came over when you started the squirrel call 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
😂😂😂
At this point I just use electronic calls because of asthma 😂😊
I didn’t know they made squirrel calls that’s pretty cool

What's up Vinnie, It would be cool to see a hog hunting video
Hey Vinnie, I guess they work🎉
I've never seen a tree do that 😮!
You tried maybe next time you'll git em👍.
JO JO IN VT 💞
Next time!

Well Vinnie I never have heard a squirrel before but if you’re call is what they sound like it’s pretty cool. What do they taste like? Ttyl
Kind of like chicken but better
They work well enough
I bet waylon will like them calls
Yeah he wants to play with them. He thinks they are squeaky toys.
What choke do you have in your shotgun?
I think you need WALKER’s game ears. Hunting hearing aids. Now that it is a little cooler, I will be going. And using the hearing aids.
Seemed like it did something lol.
It’d be interesting to see if that call worked on any other species. Maybe at a coffee and beignet shop. It might attract a beautiful woman. It would work if you had confidence and believed in yourself.
Squirrel calls and a shotgun? -- Squirrels would never have a chance, now would they?
Don't go squirrel hunting without mine

Awesome. Thanks.
these work on cayote. i also have hurt rabbit calls that work on cayote
😁👍👍🐿️👏👏
Did you call in males or females? I wonder if that makes a difference
The ones I got, one was male and the other was female.
I'm so done w/ this heat & humidity 🥵 looks like we have a decent front coming on the 19th 🙏💜 I'm not going cast netting again till these bugs go back the hell where they belong 😂
agreed I just walked in my backyard a minute ago and almost got carried away.
But were you walking 🥷 Nina quiet 🤣
Nope
Maybe not😉
