    Good one Jeff.
    Yeah, I steamed them in the steamer-flower thingo so didn't need much draining. Then The Bloke mixed the leftover ones from the roast-up in with the hummus - really amazing....

    How do you plant sweet potatoes and where do you get the seeds, roots, or plants? I have no clue but I need to learn to how to do self sustained. Thank you for your help.

      You cut one in half, leave it in sun, half submerged in water or in wet sand under warm window and it will sprout little vines!
      Cut theses of and plant them :)

      G'day Rob, thanks mate, my Yacon's looking good. I've had a few good tubers from the surface so far, I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of the ground. I'm thinking I might be able to do a huge variety of things with these.cheers:)

    Can you recall the name of the bags you are using in this video? I have not found freezer bags that sturdy.

    • @mugsyjeff
      @mugsyjeff  10 років тому +4

      No, I can't, there's no brand on them, I did a barter for them. I have enough to last me a lifetime. They were going to be used for body building powder, but apparently the venture fell over.

      Commercial heavy duty bags from China. They will ship in bulk. It takes about 3 months so order ahead of time.
      Or just call ULine and order these. Of course they double the price but it gets to you faster!

    Hi Jeff I think that I will do two experiments with the sweet potatoes, I will blanch some sweet potatoes straight from the ground, And I will blanch some sweet potatoes that will of been cured. I will then taste them to see if one experiment is better than the other. I will let you know how I go on all being well. john

      JT777 Ah, thanks John, I harvested some yesterday with mixed results, a couple of plants had none at all, maybe too much nitrogen. I have more to harvest & I'm planting spuds shortly.

      Thanks Jeff love your videos, keep up the good work, bye the way Jeff I used your technique of blanching and freezing potatoes last year, we have been eating them, since the end of December, and we still have plenty which should last us I reckon till May.

    Hi Jeff I will be growing sweet potatoes for the first time this year. can I ask did you harvest the sweet potatoes and then blanch them? or did you cure them before blanching thanks

    • @mugsyjeff
      @mugsyjeff  9 років тому

      JT777 Hi & thank you, I harvested & blanched basically straight away. I tend to get the odd grub in mine if I leave them too long. I only recently learned about curing sweet potatoes.

    Good Lord - 12 1/2 bags? I bet you're feeding your kiddos and grandkiddos too! :)
    I've been slicing mine up and dehydrating them for dog treats.

      Hi Caroline, no that was 5 & a 1/2 bags. which was still quite a bit. I only just recently saw the title of the videos for making sweet potato dog treats. I feed the grand kids up on it while they're here. I'm encouraging my son-in-law to grow some for themselves, which he has been. I'll ttyl, bye:)
