    This video will show you how to replace the spark plugs on a 2012 Chevy Equinox with the 2.4L 4-Cylinder Engine.
    Be sure to let the engine cool before trying to replace spark plugs. The manufacturer recommended gap on the spark plugs is .040
    This should be the same for model years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

    Pro tip! Take the ratchet off the extension when reinstalling the plug. Less likely to cross thread the plug when finger tightening by hand with just the socket and extension. Then tighten with the ratchet.

      good advice always begin threading by hand and use anti cease compound sparingly. I went ahead and replaced coils after 90,000 miles. when you can buy new denso-ac delco coils for 25.00 a peice it just makes sense. also replaced vvt solonoids intake one was bad already so i replaced the exhaust as well for about 25.00 a peice at ROCK AUTO you will pay double at local chain auto parts stores.

      It might be good to turn the spark plug backwards until you can feel it 'drop' into the groove for tightening it.

      It could be also 16mm metric socket. And it preferably be magnetic, otherwise you need to use coil to get out the unscrewed spark plug.

    Worked well using this video on a 2012 Equinox LT AWD.
    One piece of advice is do not use a socket and an extenion as 2 pieces, instead use a socket that has the extenion as one piece. This way you won't deal with the extenion becoming disconnected from the 5/8 spark plugs socket down the hole.

    Use to torque wrench for final tightening to the specified value. Anti-seize compound is a must on these heads. You have 2 different types types of metal and a chemical bond will form preventing future removal.

    For those who are wondering, spark plugs require 15 foot pounds of torque. If you are working on your vehicle it’s important to have a torque wrench. Don’t just “tighten snuggly”

    there are 2 compounds to use on the sparkplugs you only used 1 the 2nd one is electrical gel compound to put on the top where the boots push back on you put a thin coat on the top stud of the plugs to get a solid contact with the boots that way you won't get a miss fire so use 1st compound anti seize on bottom threads and 2nd compound electronic gel on top stud of the sparkplug for a solid contact.

  • @karlt10
    @karlt10 Рік тому

    1. You should put some high temp (copper) anti-seize on the plug threads. 2. You should put dielectric grease on the tip of the plug before pushing the coil onto it. If you have a torque wrench, 15 ft lbs is a good setting for plugs in an aluminum head.
