The Marshall MG series is a quite popular practice amp for guitar. Marshall also boast that this very affordable guitar amp recreates that legendary Marshall tone. That would be quite something.

I just got my MG15FX yesterday. I'm an old retired guy and only play for my own amusement. I got a great deal on this amp and couldn't be happier with it. I spent two hours just playing with the different channels and effects. I didn't expect concert-quality from a budget amp, but it will go more than loud enough to piss off the neighbors. I'm not qualified to give an expert opinion, but if you're a beginner like me and don't want to invest a fortune in an amp and pedals, this baby has enough effects to keep you busy for days, and my Donner DLP124b sounds great through it!

I don't know. It sounds like every expensive Marshall I've ever heard. So, if you like Marshall amps, then I don't see how it's not a great amp. If there was any shrillness, it didn't come across on the video. For $169, it seems like an amazing amp.

I’ve had two of these small Marshall amplifiers. One of the tiny 5W which wasn’t working right and was easy to fix and resell. Don’t miss it at all. However I also had a 30W MG30CFX 1x10 and that was a great little combo amplifier! I still miss it at times!

I had that amp once, err the MG15FX version. It was nice as a beginner amp with the Marshall brand and crunch sound that works well with an YJM308 overdrive pedal. Then I traded it in towards a VHT Special 6 Ultra to get that tube amp sound solid states can't quite get. But I also tried another solid state Blackstar ID:Core 20 but got tired of fiddling with programming software tones and sold that to get a used Blackstar HT-1R tube amp. I love the S6U and HT1 tube amps, they have been great for home practicing.

After 50 years of playing guitar (some party and bar gigs) bought and sold alot of stuff. Bunch of stuff still here.
Best buys, a close out HSS S type for $75.00 new about 10 years ago (its on a stand now with me)
and a used Peavey Vypyr 15 about a year later for $49.00.
Good amp. I'd set it next to the Marshall, i dig it that much.

I think it is really a matter of taste! Look at Paul Gilbert, he still plays the THR10 from Yamaha. I have that thing and it is a mixed thing imho! For me the modeling on a freeware amp via pc sounds and feels much more real than what Yamaha put out there. The MG15 is mocked by so many, but you make it sound more than OK. I learned to even like the Yamaha THR10. I just dialed the mids in until they kinda fit to my drumsound of EZ drummer and then it really struck me, it almost doesn't matter anymore when you play along your mix, just dial it in right and start doing your thing.

When I worked at the pawn shop this was the amp I used for people that played with distortion and rock, etc. I thought it sounded pretty damn good actually. So good I've always watched the local market place for a 1 x 12 or 2 x12 if they make the later in this model as it would be a great amp if the price is right. The only solid state amp I've played that I thought was better is the Orange Crush series. I played a 1 x 12 60 watt at the music store that sounded outstanding. Felt and played and sounded very tube like.
I just like a 2 x 12 cab best or even 4 x 10. Not as flubby on the bottom end and good midrange in my experience . ♥️🤘♥️

So I bought this amp many years ago when I first started playing second hand for the bargain price of £50. Main reason was just because I wanted the Marshall logo slapped across the front of it.
But it wasn't great. Not bad but like you said, not great either. Does the job. In fact I also have a 10 watt amp which sounds so much better. It's the Kustom KGA 10FX and honestly, it sounds amazing in its own right, not just compared to this Marshall. Now that is an amp I would fully recommend!!

I'm not gonna lie and say this sounded absolutely amazing, but for a cheap 15-watt amp, I'd say it sounds pretty decent. I think the Fender Mustang LT25 that you demo'd probably rules in this class, but it has, IMO, too many amp models that really don't sound great. If you wanted to just turn a couple of simple, intuitive knobs and make decent sounds, this looks like a real winner!

Sounds pretty decent but honestly I'd rather save up and put the money on a Bugera. Picked up a used Bugera G5 and cab for about twice the Marshall. Difference is it sounds incredible instead of ok and isn't something to outgrow and then sell. Marshall does many great things but that isn't one of them. I think if I was trying to point out a beginner to an amp I would tell them to be patient, save a little extra money and get something that will grow with you.

My second amp was a Park 'son of Marshall' all the pots went scratchy it did sound ok but epic failure in choosing really cheap mini pots.

Every amp I’ve ever owned no matter what manufacturer or if it’s solid state or valve amps I’ve fiddled and farted about until the cows come home and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been 100% happy with the sound so you have to compromise or maybe I’m just too fussy and or a crap guitar player.😂

The older pre-MG budget Marshalls (Valvestate series from the 1990s-early 2000s and Master Lead series from the 1980s) were much better quality amps and sounded very good.

Had a valvestate amp when I was around 14-15. Sadly I couldn't play for shit; and it was astonishingly loud so, living at home, I didn't get to properly test it out much. But in retrospect it was a very good amp and wish I still had it

Id recommend going up to the 50 watt version as an 8 inch speaker lacks the punch , 12 inch speaker should do the job , you get what you pay for , I used to have a Marshall AVT 50 a long time ago great amp for £200 but then i stepped up to a JCM 800 Combo which cost me like double the money at the time but it was worth it.

I'm not sure about that "legendary Marshall tone" from budget solid state amp.
Had one of this line. MG15, wihout FX. IIRC that was CD or something like that. Judging by it's sound "CD" means that it was made from recycled CD players.
Clean channel was ok, sterile but still playable. Overdriven - nope, quite an unpleasant experience.
And btw, it's quite loud. There is no "1 Watt" or "0.5 Watt" switch, it's always 15 Watts. At least mine was. And it was a pain in the back.
imho there are better amps in this price range. For example something like that small tube 5 Watt HB thingy.
