They have two settings. The factory setting is almost silent but hardly functions as an extractor. After recalling the electrician to investigate, he discovered the fan has two settings and the more powerful setting is as noisy as standard fans. I contacted their customer relations department and was given a pile of waffle. Wouldn't dream of buying another.
I finally fathomed the issue with mine. The installer set it to constant trickle. So it was running all the time with isolater switch turned on. Thanks to Google I've worked out that by adjusting the tiny slider switches under the front cover you can have the constant trickle set to off and it will be silent till you pull the cord. Hurrah.
SILENT.....SILENT! How about it doesn't work! Now that's what I call silent. I bought one but had to wait several months for an electrician to install it. It didn't work and he spent several hours trying to make it work at my cost. In the meantime it had gone beyond the return date that I could ask for a replacement. The most accurate watch I ever owned didn't work either but it was exactly right twice a day. Even atomic clocks can't boast that accuracy. Methinks there is a misuse of the word SILENT here. Silent means "no noise, nothing, zillch" I guess that I got exactly that!
This fan is far from silent. It’s fitted in the kitchen ceiling under the bedroom it’s not possible to sleep with the constant buzz . It also will not run with any strength ie to extract without the kitchen lights being on , Not Ideal in Summer time
Why didn't they demonstrate the quietness of the fan in the video?
The one I just installed... is so silent that I really don't know if it's on or not... wish it had a small LED... But it's a good problem to have.
I have an ACM 100. It lasted 3 years then died. It was more quiet than our last fan, but not silent.
This does have another switch to turn off above are door,i just want to no how to clean and dismantle it.

We just fitted a "vent axia - lo carbon selv" and it's noisey as hell, anybody know how to fix this?
We've just had a lo carbon fan fitted in the kitchen. Very noisy - a constant rumble/buzz.

I don't get it, if they don't like the fan where they live, why not have it changed?
Everyone has a choice.
