@@akrenwinkle ohhhh I know why!! I corrected myself as someone said “lady’s?” so I corrected my self and said “ladies” 😂 I just re read the reply’s. I was so confused for a minute.
One of our greatest actresses. It's not that she wasn't unrecognized. She hardly could be. But she sure wasn't used often enough. She must be around other greats because her alarming mannerisms will steal every scene.
I’m hoping the edit at 14:08 was deliberate, it certainly had a surreal edge and would have been hilarious at the time, it certainly fried some of my remaining brain cells
I thought Ray would say "Joy", as the scarecrow did, which was followed by, "rapture". The days of home video have made us more familiar with movie lines.
For credit, debit was the obvious clue. Not only rhymes, but is the opposite. Couldn't believe no one gave it. And for garbage no one gave the clue of trash ???? Even harder to believe.
I like the early shows where they are not playing charades with their hands. Eve had to give a clue for "face" and she's practically pointing at her face. LOL
2:40 occasionally one, I feel, sees bona fide psychic abilities on the show. Sometimes it's a stretch, but here (with Gooey) I truly think there may be psychic phenomena being observed. So cool.
It seems food waste for garbage was a much more prevalent usage in 1967 than now. Trash was usually considered dry waste. Today the two are used interchangeably.
Interesting about "Kleenex"… Although. of course, it's a brand name, I guess it was after this point in time that it became part of the vocabulary as an actual word denoting a facial tissue.
Nope. In 1967 there were Credit Cards. For example: "Diners Club". "Carte Blanche" and some others. No excuse for the stupidity of the celebs and the contestants on this episode.
My dad -- Lee Vines -- was the announcer for this show.
Jim:
Congratulations!
👍
That’s amazing
He did a great job!
@@anglophils645 Yup, he sure did! And thanks!
God, I love me some of our miss Arden :D
Two great acting legends. I love Eve Arden playing Connie Brooks in Our Miss Brooks.
Ray Bolger was the scarecrow on The Wizard of Oz.
Ray Bolger a true gentleman helps the “ladies” get seated 😍 and I just love Eve Arden 💛
Lady's...what?
Ladies is that better.
@@Stacie-XO Yes, better. But why is "ladies" in quotes? You mean maybe there's some question that they're not?
@@akrenwinkle Fair comment. This was 3 years ago so don’t really know why I did that. I definitely don’t think other wise.

Another enjoyable upload. Thanks so much!
I adore both of these entertainers! Great upload!
Me too!!
Didn't know Ray Bolger at all but he's really entertaining in a smart way of course.
Thats my uncle! Rip Gary
Hes still alive.
Eve Arden was 58 or 59 years old here and she looked great!
59 or 60...
She was born in April of 1908
@@luv4puppy1 So 50 because that would make more sense!
I think that Eve Arden was so beautiful...
Me too, and I love the unique way she spoke
She was in Mildred Pierce.
She had a unique acting style----she was great in the films Mildred Pierce and Anatomy of a Murder.
When she was younger she was
I love her voice, too!! Our Miss Brooks and December Bride(i think) were 2 tv shows you can get on UA-cam; )
Eve was unable to concentrate. Unusual for her. She has an excellent vocabulary and the most articulate pronunciation.
Oooh eve is the head teacher from grease
And she barely aged.
I think she was actually the principal.
Yep. She was so good.

I love the old show all of them
There’s no mistaking Ray’s voice. I adored him! 💕
Eve Arden was Our Miss Brooks! ❤
I love my Eve Arden!
Bolger an old time gentleman. Stands up when a female partner comes in and holds her chair.
Eve Arden is an excellent player.
Wait... wasn't Ray the Scarecrow!?!
That was him all over!
And the grandfather in the Partridge Family
I'm still waiting.
Yes, Ray Bolger
At 14:07, is that the contestant Charles' twin sitting on the other side with Ray?
I’m hoping the edit at 14:08 was deliberate, it certainly had a surreal edge and would have been hilarious at the time, it certainly fried some of my remaining brain cells
OMG I noticed it TOO! ♥
2 face 🐸✌️
Wizard of Oz had been filmed just 28 years earlier.
I thought Ray would say "Joy", as the scarecrow did, which was followed by, "rapture". The days of home video have made us more familiar with movie lines.
The guy from Nebraska may be the first person who publicly stated without shame or irony that his "hobby" was watching TV.
Ive only seen Eve Arden in Grease. She was so good.
ua-cam.com/video/c36azPzF27U/v-deo.htmlsi=KMKectz8Ih91qvnt
She was gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous
8:04...I thought, "Priscilla, Lola, Rosemary". The Lane Sisters, from movies in the 1930's and 1940's.
At 14:07, Charles appears as both Eve's and Ray's partner at the same time.

Given the financial clues, Card could've worked.
@@floydvaughn836 Not very many people used credit cards in 1967.
Its hard to think on the spot. Especially when you've got a time limit.
I don't think debit cards were around in 1967.

For the word credit, I would say card.
I don't think they were as common back then. Not everyone would have had one.
Credit before Visa and Mastercard were a thing...crazy.
Anyone ever stop to think the beaded curtain in the background is a coded message!?
No, but some people probably do...
No further comment...!
Beaded?
It's the address and time to meet the return ship. If you can't read it, too bad. But you already missed it anyway. They left without us.
Probably symbols for long and short words.
Supper club star... What ever happened to supper clubs? I've never seen one. I know Ray Bolger from The Wizard of Oz though.
I have watched them struggle with cinder more than once. How about playing as 'sender'...clue - 'Reciever' with the voice tilt ending?
Some of the worst clues for "garbage" I've ever heard.
For "Face" I would probably try "Countenance" 🙂
Interesting about "Kleenex"… Although. of course, it's a brand name, I guess it was after this point in time that it became part of the vocabulary as an actual word denoting a facial tissue.
Log+house=cabin So many times they complicate things, go off on a tangent, confuse the clues 😖
There was Diner's Club Credit Card...rather uncommon though.
What's that little way that Allen swings his hand back and walks all sassy to the podium? strange
It was the microphone cord, he would crack it like a whip each episode, for good luck, kind of like Carol Burnett tugging on her ear
He was a goof.
He had, especially in the early years, a microphone cord that he had to keep behind him.
"Panky"😂
Scarecrow!
I'm sure most people were yelling it to their screen both television and UA-cam for "Aerial" (of course) the word "Antenna" 🙂
Lol. Must have been before credit cards.
Maybe they didn't use that term then. I remember on I LOVE LUCY, she would call it her "Charge A Plate".
Nope. In 1967 there were Credit Cards. For example: "Diners Club". "Carte Blanche" and some others. No excuse for the stupidity of the celebs and the contestants on this episode.
The first word was one heck of a lucky guess... although Eve was cheating badly with that gesture.
They cheated with gestures
Idk about the first one🚬🗿
?x̌
It's interesting how all these big movie stars cheat at this game. They're supposed to only use words not body language.
14:05 - 14:10 Wait, wut...wait, wut...wait . . . WUT??
I was thinking that too. Haha. Editing whoops.
I thought "wait--they are twins???" lol.
