John was wrenching on his car all day anticipating this run. Great job JB. Special thanks to Ivanho who organized the event. This was the best one ever and looking forward to our next one.
Well done!!! I was involved with a previous standing mile car back in 2007; and still can't believe what that car was capable of doing. You guys really set a new bar.
Hats off to Performance Power and of course the pilot of this land aircraft, Johnny! Congrats to the new holder of the World Record Holder for the Standing Mile!!!!
Congrats, that is a huge accomplishment. Hitting Veyron top speed in 1-mile is insane. Never seen wheelspin until 5th gear before, lol. Managing the lower gear boost #s and some magic rubber will definitely see over 260+.
This car is also a daily driver with full interior and functioning A/C system with no removal of factory items. It also has a boost setting for 93 octane and has many street driven miles on it.
I was complimenting the car on its accomplishment, so why hate on me or the car I like/own? And Supras have been doing their thing. Good job Ford GT!!!
i dont know why everywhere i go people have to start arguing import vs muscle im a import guy myself but i also just love all racing from 4 cylinders to 12 from 1/4 miles to nascar to circuts i love them all why cant more people just think like i do.racing is racing whether its a perfictly built 4 cyl running 7s or 8s on the 1/4 or a supra or skyline going 240mph or a 1800 hp ford gt spinning in 4th gear and going 250 mph just love racing and accept that all cars can be fast if built right.
AMAZING video but the guys will post a better 1 soon. Improved track results will follow at the next event This result was on A SHAKE DOWN RUN!!!! They now have a baseline to build on, so expect to see 260+ next attempt. :-) Extremely proud to have assisted Johnny to destroy the standing mile record so convincingly. Trevor Langfield
I was actually there that day... when we heard this guy say "253 miles per hour" we were like WTF!!!!! ... Unbelieavable, and amazing at the same time... what a blessing to have experienced such thing! ... now only if I was behind the steering wheel that day :-D Look how once he goes past the 1mile line he was doing 255mph... that day they increased the run to 1 and 1/4 miles, but the GT was gone, I'm assuming that GT could be in the 260mph easily
Ok everyone arguing with me about only being in 5th gear watch the video more closely he was spinning and letting off the gas in 2nd and 3rd. If you count everytime he spun he would be in 8th gear. watch his arm for the shifts. 1st ended at 61mph, 2nd went to 106, 3rd went to 135, 4th went to 191, and 5th took him to a mile. the gears are tall the car has the power to get it to a fast enough speed in 5th there is no need to use 6th.
@04COMach1 I LOVE the SSC. I'm a huge fan of what they've done with the budget they have. But as a piece of engineering, the Veyron is a marvel. That motor will last a long while (I'd bet good money on it). The car is supremely stable even past 200 mph. They're almost apples and oranges in everything but performance. That's how the car is amazing- the SS has roughly the same power as the SSC, yet has a higher top speed with 1000 lbs more weight.
@firehawkowner Suspension is probably close to stock, as the GT hits 212 stock, and it looks like they may have taped the grill and around the gaps a little, but that's it.
@aTuWitty Couldn't agree more. Never been a fan of the Veyron, but it's still one of motorings biggest engineering achievements. People who don't recognise that generally don't have a clue about cars. But this is youtube, the home of the internet comment heroes.
Holy sh*t just ridiculous acceleration. I think my car is fast with 500 hp but when you see something like this it puts it into perspective of what is possible. Awesome.
I'm not surprised, UGR's Gallardo had a lot more in it (both in terms of boost and launch) at 241 mph. But the driver was satisfied (it was his first time doing such an event, accomplished his goal) so didn't go for more. SW's Supra has had problems, but running right and with the right conditions, she'll go to 255+ mph
@tsab13hmong The fastest supra did 246mph. It was SW's Boost Logic Supra (190k invested), and it had the record for a while at the Texas Mile, until an Underground Racing TT Lamborghini broke it with a 250mph run. The UR Lambo's and TT Ford GT's are on a new level of fast.
The Ford GT-40 has already beaten the Bugatti Venyon by a considerable amount of time and speed. Now for the last several years (since about 2005) hold the worlds speed record.
@deadtofall666 He short shifted first and spun second, then got fully on it. He said so himself. SW's car isn't just an off the shelf kit. Neither is their block fill drag car. Regardless, they got two full speed passes after a few shake downs and blew. Johnny drives this car to work sometimes as well as picks his kids up from school. SW's supra isn't even his anymore, he sold it after he ran it off the track twice.
@MazelTHC sorry, i worded that wrong, I meant the veyron needs like 5.5 miles or something like that to reach top speed, and thats with a 120 mph running start.
Yeah, they said that if the gears are lengthened, it should be able to break 300 without a problem. It definitely looked like the car had alot left in it when it reached the rev limiter.
@topgearnut1989 However, this Ford GT did 253 mph from a standing start over a mile. The Veyron took over 4 miles to reach 253 mph (SS 267mph). Given that the Ford GT reached 253 mph at the end of a mile, what speed could it reach after 2 miles? 3 miles? 4 miles? I would suggest that this car could top 280 mph at 2 miles, 290 mph by 3 miles and 295 mph in 4 miles if the tyres lasted.
@cml82utube Quad Turbo V16 vs. Twin Turbo V8 Which has the advantage? This car is most likely street legal along with all the other Ford GTs pushing over 800 rwhp.
the car did that without even trying, he was going easy on it at the beginning so the tires wont just burn down, i guess the aerodynamics of the ford make it a good car for the mile
@alandshawni No, not a hobby. I'm a mech. engineer, so a little more than that. I didn't know much about the car, so I take it back. 1400hp and 26psi is insane. I wonder how long that power train will last.
@bobthebuilder6938 he does, but the power comes on relatively suddenly at high rpm and he has to control is foot with nerves of steel given that the car has so much hp it will spin the tires at 150mph
You can hear a significant 'clonk' where he goes from 2nd to 3rd gear. It's not a standard box at all because the power would mince the standard box and it would top out way before hitting 253
@04COMach1 well theres more to it than just power output, you have to factor in issues like the chassis sustainability, other car components that can be effected by high power and speed, and the issue of making it not only a comfortable but road legal car. and how can you determine how it handles, i think that the lotus elise handles well from other peoples accounts but ive never driven one so i can only assume it handles well. have you driven a veyron?
@304teddy I have to agree with teflon on the TT Gallardo vs the TT Ford GT. 1800hp from boost and spray is too much power for any tire to hold on the street. They would literally have to do a 110mph roll to race.
@kkage2 the f1 with 1200hp theoretically will go to 323mph, so yeah, nothing beats the f1 with the same amount of hp, its the most aerodynamic, streamlined super car there is.
the only reason (one of) why this car is street legal is that good ol' florida has no "smog" regulations whatsoever, AND well, because it's awesome and right down INSANE. i had the chance to see this thing in person.
@deadtofall666 Boost logic has over 100k just in the motor alone of their supra that ran 246, just the motor. I don't call this thing being only slightly faster than that supra. He spun first, missed second, hit it and spun, went to third and spun, fourth had to pedal it to keep from spinning. The only reason he didn't go faster was because of the gearing. Note also he made more than two passes, like BL's supra did then blew up.
@masonizere true. Unfortunately the Veyron is so much more expensive. I can't help thinking that if they had designed a lighter car, one that doesn't weigh more than a BMW M5, then it wouldn't cost so much... The Veyron SS smashed the lap record at Top Gear's test track, beating the Gumpert ApolloS by .3 seconds. There were some painful (to hear) stats, though, like the set of tires costing 20000 pounds I wonder if the Veyron is truly cheaper than servicing this Ford GT every so often.
@akollgaard Well the Ford GT was built with a lot of power. So even if they didn't beef up the powertrain, which is unlikely, it shouldn't last any less than stock. But with that kind of power, there isn't a whole lot you can expect without weighing it down too much.
And then of course, is the awkward part :"Our good friend Ray Hofman just ran 266.9 mph in the standing mile into a direct 18 mph headwind at the Exotics Rally in Florida. He bested the world record of 255 set earlier today by the Performance Power GT by 11 mph!!!" Congrats to Jason Heffner & crew as well.
@TEFLONTHADON Well my original comment was aimed at a guy who was boasting about the ZR1's laptimes. All I was trying to say was that most of the people with the money to buy cars in the same range shouldn't just look at lap times to determine what's for them, their money and what they're gonna use the car for mainly. Oh, and I'm definitely no corvette hater.
@airbusA5000 not a veyron fan, just dont c why u wud say they are ugly and plain looking inside coming from some1 who would choose the gt over the bugatti
@topgearnut1989 Neither the Veyron or SSC Aero reached those speeds over a standing mile. Both required over 4 miles plus a rolling start. Given 4 miles and appropriate gearing I suggest this car could reach 295 mph.
@04COMach1 The engine in the Veyron is far from pathetic and should not be compared to the engine in the GT500 but again I can see your point. I'd rather have one that I would not have to ship around paying absurd prices as well, but if that's whats called for to get excellence and the money is there then why not? I don't think you can get away from those fees with any true hyper car unfortunately.
@crakpotjoe Yea that was the first time UGR made it to the mile they where only shooting for 240, the car will hit 250, the same set up on the Leggera was taken to texas on March and ran 250.1, remember this are full weight cars+ rollcage-nitrous, and with amature drivers... UGR is got something ready for october....
Some of you guys are UNREAL. You're making claims and statements about a car you know NOTHING about. This car IS a GENUINE street legal car (as some have stated), it drives PERFECTLY WELL in all conditions. Holy cow! this was the best event EVER. i am glad to have been a part of this and had witnessed this record shattering race!
Congrats Johnny, having been a Highpower customer/tester I can apprciate your achement...good luck the rest of the year
this is exactly why this car is still my favorite super car.
i am beyond impressed!
I can watch this over and over...and over. Just unreal.
Just AMAZING! Sounds great... looks incredible. nice run
i thought my GT was fast but yours is incredible!!! Congratulations on the new world record.
Congrats, that is a huge accomplishment. Hitting Veyron top speed in 1-mile is insane. Never seen wheelspin until 5th gear before, lol. Managing the lower gear boost #s and some magic rubber will definitely see over 260+.
"Top End" does not come close to describing this car....... I was absolutely blow away from 120mph-250+mph... near speechless.
INSANE!
Congrats to Johnny. Saw you on HH this month too.
This car is also a daily driver with full interior and functioning A/C system with no removal of factory items.
It also has a boost setting for 93 octane and has many street driven miles on it.
Sick car. Love the fact it driven regularly with AC. LMR has their sights on you guys so watch out
Awesome work and a BIG congrats on the achievement!
hell some people might not like that sound but i love it, the sound of a champ kicking ass or a fighter jet
Roll race king! There was SO much left in her and even w/ all that wheel spin, it still managed a 252+mph in the mile! NICE!
I was complimenting the car on its accomplishment, so why hate on me or the car I like/own? And Supras have been doing their thing. Good job Ford GT!!!
All I have to say is damn!! Congrats on the new record. Car was rock solid.
i dont know why everywhere i go people have to start arguing import vs muscle im a import guy myself but i also just love all racing from 4 cylinders to 12 from 1/4 miles to nascar to circuts i love them all why cant more people just think like i do.racing is racing whether its a perfictly built 4 cyl running 7s or 8s on the 1/4 or a supra or skyline going 240mph or a 1800 hp ford gt spinning in 4th gear and going 250 mph just love racing and accept that all cars can be fast if built right.
That's awesome! I'll bet if he had a couple more runs he may have hit a little higher. Craziest Ford GT I've seen right there.
Congrats. This is AMAZING!!!

This result was on A SHAKE DOWN RUN!!!!
They now have a baseline to build on, so expect to see 260+ next attempt. :-)

Trevor Langfield
wow a 250+mph 1,800 horsepower ford gt now that ride is a certified bugatti veryon killer
I was actually there that day... when we heard this guy say "253 miles per hour" we were like WTF!!!!! ... Unbelieavable, and amazing at the same time... what a blessing to have experienced such thing! ... now only if I was behind the steering wheel that day :-D

0-253 in a tick over 23 seconds. Not much to say. Simply astounding a car can do that. Ford GT is a dream car one has a chance to actually get.
This car is still at full production weight with nothing stripped only a Twin Turbo setup with a mean tune and regearing for higher speeds.
and in the end you no one still CAN'T beat FORD. FORD FTW AND FOREVER
Good stuff. Although I'm a Supra guy this is a very good accomplishment. It would be cool to see this in Texas.
this awesome. i already loved this car.
Not going to lie, that is the most kick-ass car of all time..so far...
@firehawkowner Suspension is probably close to stock, as the GT hits 212 stock, and it looks like they may have taped the grill and around the gaps a little, but that's it.
after 160 mph, this thing is just gone. truly amazing.
@kkage2
you got my point. The main reason why high hp cars have poor low end accel is a lack of traction.
1750hp info on team Shelby! That's just sick guy gots some big balls!
it sounded like he feathered the trottle all the way up to 3rd gear to prevent wheel spin this car is a monster
This car has a suspension set up for road racing and monster brakes so it does a whole lot more than just straight line speed.
amazing peace of engineering.
@aTuWitty Couldn't agree more. Never been a fan of the Veyron, but it's still one of motorings biggest engineering achievements. People who don't recognise that generally don't have a clue about cars. But this is youtube, the home of the internet comment heroes.
Same here. I'd like to see if the supra can do better. Good job to both the gt and supra.
Amazing!! This years Texas mile should be very interesting going up against SW supra
Holy sh*t just ridiculous acceleration. I think my car is fast with 500 hp but when you see something like this it puts it into perspective of what is possible. Awesome.
Damn, thats fast!! Near to the Busa record of 259,9 mp/h!!
Way to go cousin!
I'm not surprised, UGR's Gallardo had a lot more in it (both in terms of boost and launch) at 241 mph. @Blitz4000
That wasn't turbo lag that was an effort to keep the car from spinning out at low speeds. Think before posting next time.
amazingly fast...!!!what s the horsepower on that?1400 hp?
@topgearnut1989 However, this Ford GT did 253 mph from a standing start over a mile. The Veyron took over 4 miles to reach 253 mph (SS 267mph). I think everyones' favourite is the Stanley Steamer.
Went 186 mph back then.
Steam launches fighter jets off aircraft carriers, not racing gas.
@droceretik it is in fl they have a mile there to idk where in fl
@masonizere true. Unfortunately the Veyron is so much more expensive. Wait for new record next week people... Its coming! Ready to see UGR come break some lambo's in Fla.
0-200 in 15 seconds! 0-253 in 23 seconds vs around a minute for the Bugatti Veyron! This car is ridiculous!
damn the revs on that are so fast
@akollgaard Well the Ford GT was built with a lot of power. So even if they didn't beef up the powertrain, which is unlikely, it shouldn't last any less than stock. But with that kind of power, there isn't a whole lot you can expect without weighing it down too much.
Hey wtf? I'm a Supra lover but it doesn't mean i thumbed down >_>.... Actually this was a mind bender, awesome!
And then of course, is the awkward part :"Our good friend Ray Hofman just ran 266.9 mph in the standing mile into a direct 18 mph headwind at the Exotics Rally in Florida. He bested the world record of 255 set earlier today by the Performance Power GT by 11 mph!!!"

@viper306m Funny......the datalogs from the run show all 6 gears used.
The new record is 266MPH by another Ford GT, man these cars are crazy.
good golly, that car would put a horn on a jelly fish. love the 3rd gear loss of traction. thats some high hp there.
This was a record for about a month cause the Heffner GT did the mile run at 266 mph.
@airbusA5000 not a veyron fan, just dont c why u wud say they are ugly and plain looking inside coming from some1 who would choose the gt over the bugatti

@AfflictionFTW - You might find it hard to believe but the Top Fuelers do actually manage it! :O
@04COMach1 That's the price of perfected engineering.
@04COMach1 The engine in the Veyron is far from pathetic and should not be compared to the engine in the GT500 but again I can see your point. I'd rather have one that I would not have to ship around paying absurd prices as well, but if that's whats called for to get excellence and the money is there then why not? I'd say that by building this car, the Veyron has just been shit upon....
Ford GT = Best car ever made.... EVER.
Yeah, plus i heard they have a two-stage nitrous system that they plan on using. This car could definitely hit 300mph IMO.
that is blindingly fast!!!!!
The gt looks nice , the bugatti takes some getting use to in the looks deptment
@viper306m another gear? i counted 6 unless he upgraded it to 7 gears
GO FORD GT!!!!
Some of you guys are UNREAL.
You're making claims and statements about a car you know NOTHING about.
This car IS a GENUINE street legal car (as some have stated), it drives PERFECTLY WELL in all conditions.
It is NOT just built for this event and Johnny intends to do some 1/4 mile times as soon as possible to prove it.
The 255 mph was a sat nav readout and therefore accurate.
AMAZING video but the guys will post a better 1 soon. Improved track results will follow at the next event
This result was on A SHAKE DOWN RUN!!!!
They now have a baseline to build on, so expect to see 260+ next attempt. :-)
