    I’ve been getting lessons with cam for about two weeks and he’s been amazing! Couldn’t believe how bad my form was! It’s game changing having another set of eyes to help you everyday.

    At 41 been playing off and on for 10 years it's so hard to break bad habits. This is definitely a problem I have and ill start working on it. Thank you.

    I have to say, I *really* like this video. This has been one of my long-standing problems and the way you focused on demonstrated it made clear what to do. The drift IS the lag.

    Love it Josh! Do you think you guys could do a proud mash-up of before/after form videos for your successful students? And pinpoint the key learnings for them that made everything work better?

    Seabass has a thing where he talks about basically sitting down in the coil, almost like coil - drift - start to plant your butt in a seat. Now, go to seabass himself for the real info, im sure im mischaracterizing his point, but that really helped me to stop leaving my weight on the back foot.
    As always, good stuff OT. Appreciate yall.

    Super good tip! I think learning how to throw downhill properly helped me with this, but I think I can still improve with it.

    Just listening to you explain this issue it's clear I make this mistake. My brain has always thought, toe down = go time for the arm

    I also realized that ab extends his plant leg when he gets to the deepest point of the power pocket. I think that extra explosion gives him more distance

    What I see is a door in need of some weatherstripping. Lots of light on the handle side of the door. I’m still working on the nose down advice from a few weeks ago. Progress is intermittent.

    I feel like a lot of this could be avoided with a different overall progression. Instead of going standstill full reach back into x-step full reach back as most teaches why not go standstill no reach back into x-step no reach back and then add reach back a little at a time (by doing mini coils)? The more I practice the more I realize that the brace is not the issue it's the reach back *going into* the brace. It's kinda like those olympic gymnasts that sometimes have problems keeping their balance when landing at the end. It's not that landing properly is the issue, it's all of the complicated stuff happening before that that makes the simple things difficult.

      Deleted my previous comment upon further reflection.
      Before I answer let me first say that my natural inclination when reading your comments due to your posting history and general antagonistic approach to non-Andrew like instruction is that your question is disingenuous and is posed in an effort to discredit rather than from a place of wanting to understand my actual opinion on the clip provided.
      Please correct me if I have misjudged your intent and I will apologize before answering your question.

      1. I have posted antagonistically in the past, and I owe you an apology for that. You contribute to disc golf, and even if I think you're wrong, you never deserve to be treated as an enemy. I was wrong when I did that. I regret it, and I apologize.
      2. I agree with your advice in this video depending on your throwing style, but I believe there are many pros who have a different throwing style and are not doing what you're saying, and Schusterick is the best example. The best example of a pro following your advice is IMO Luke Taylor.
      3. I realize you made this video for a general audience and not as "scientific dissertation." I have spent a lot of time thinking about the differences between Luke Taylor's and Schusterick's form, and if you have also, I'd love to know your thoughts.
      4. You don't owe me an apology. The fault has been all mine.

    • @billbittick
      @billbittick 5 днів тому

      @@sabrewolf479 I respect your ability to take fault. Not a lot of that out there on the internet.

    • @OverthrowDiscGolf
      @OverthrowDiscGolf  5 днів тому +1

      @@sabrewolf479 much respect brother. All is forgiven.
      So Will does get more backwards in his X step (supposedly because of his flexibility) which makes it so that when we are looking at his X step from a side on view it looks like he is leaving his head over his left foot (and you could argue he is) but his head is still stacked up above his belly button. So I would say he is doing what I’m instructing here from a balance perspective. He just gets oriented further back.
      I usually wouldn’t recommend being that far back for the average Joe. This is similar to how Cole Redalan used to do his walkup but got injured because of the large range of motion on the left hip required to get from where Will is to the hips being oriented at 11:00.

      Eveliina Salonen is the most back-leaning pro I see out there, she is a definite outlier. I see Will Schusterick as pretty neutral in this regard. I see most pros doing what Josh is prescribing here - with a few minor variations.
