- Join us for a walk in Newquay, Cornwall, England. We explore Towan Beach, Newquay town centre and finish our walk at Newquay Harbour.
Our walk starts in Killacourt green space in the heart of Newquay town centre with beautiful views of Towan Beach, Newquay Harbour and the island house and suspension bridge. We take the steps down to Towan Beach and the beach huts, eateries and Blue Reef Aquarium. After making our way down to Towan Beach we then head back into the busy town centre and Newquay Harbour.
Newquay, one of Cornwall's liveliest resorts, boasts many beautiful beaches, Towan beach is bordered to the west by the harbour and at the east by 'the Island' a towering rocky outcrop, which is connected to the mainland by a suspension bridge.
Newquay is a town on the north coast of Cornwall, in southwest England. It’s known for sandy Fistral and Watergate Bay beaches, where waves from the Atlantic Ocean create strong surf. On the seafront, the Blue Reef Aquarium features an underwater tunnel going through a coral-reef tank with pufferfish, sharks and rays. Further inland, surrounded by tropical gardens, Newquay Zoo is home to lions, wildebeest and sloths.

I spent many of my childhood years in Cornwall in Newquay & Mawgan Porth. Watching TV Journeys gives me peace & brings back many memories of our outings around the beautiful village ports in Cornwall & Devon. I am now old & far away in Sydney OZ. Even though the weather here is kinder I miss Cornish fish & chips and Pasties. With Covid19 I don't think I will ever get back home but thank you for your wonderful videos. I once lived at 72 Fore St in Newquay over looking the harbor. Mum used to ring a large school bell to call us home from our adventures. Father was RAF at St Evel. Time is a cruel mistress. She tries to dull your memories but your videos give them life again.

I think you can get pasties by mail from bude….its strange people in Newquay wish they were in Sydney and people in Sydney wish..yes the sand is always goldener on the other side..the sweet spot is 6 months here and there…Max Bygraves did it..

I have been going to Newquay for years , beautiful place and great walks around the headland , a few years ago it seemed to get a bit of a reputation with drunken youths causing trouble especially in the evenings , it seems to have got better now , i understand it is a hot spot for hen nights and stag nights with all the nightlife there is but during the day it is fantastic for familys , can't wait to get down there again with my camper van , great video by the way 👍

Was amazed to see the two houses built on top of the large rock formations . I live in Devon ,Cornwall is lovely when the weather is like this .these people were lucky . Cornwall is not always like this .

I lived in Newquay in 92 to 97, its changed a lot but funny how some of my old haunts are still there, I used to frequent sailors all the time for grunge rock nights , and I worked at the Vic bars which is no longer there , the beaches still look beautiful though I prefer fistral beach for its massive size

Shame the shallow pool I swam in as a child at the bottom of the bit where the house that you cross the bridge to get to has been washed away and is no more heard their council was going to build a new one but it won’t be the same it was part of my childhood there and bought back family holidays there
There has been a long running dispute between Devon and Cornwall as to the origin of the Cornish Pasty. Devon claims that they invented the C/pasty and Cornwall stole the idea and this will be a bone of contention that will go on for years. However, I was told that they were made for the miners and that the thick edge of the pasty was there so that the miner could hold it so that dirt ect could not be ingested and that the crust was then thrown away. Some of the pasties were made from the recipe at half of it and a pudding, custard ect at the other half. As I have already said that this info was only told to me, but it might be of interest someone.
Not heard that about the pasty being invented in Devon, I think it is cream teas where the rivalry really is, do you put the cream or jam first hehe, is.and I lived in Cornwall and Devon. They were invented in Helston, as I recall, as I remember going in the shop where they made them the traditional way. Meat and veg one end, and apples in the other. They were the only place that sold them, but the Cornish made them at home too. You are right about the miners throwing the crusts away, they tossed them to the Cornish piskies ( Pixies) called knockers, they believed they hid in the mines.

Was there last week with my 2 sons,beautiful place,i made it just in time for storm evert,everywhere i go the weather is shite,but will definitely go back,travelled down from the north east,so i,m used to cack weather 🤣

Went end of june weather was lovely place was nice as usual been going for along time but people iam sorry to say where awful they want your money they want you to spend but they dont want you there could not say anymore if we had got lepory we were treated like that could not wait to go home to be treated with respect and will not be going back till this is over we are one country but were made to feel like we were not which is very sad !!!
