I am not often impressed with car care products but this product I was greatly impressed with. This afternoon I cleaned the chrome wheels on my 2014 F-150, they had not been cleaned properly in years, and when I finished today they looked as good as they did when I bought the truck new.
Used this stuff on my father in-laws 18 year old Buick with rusty pitted chrome wheels... Expected or hoped this stuff would take the first coat of rust off. Well I scrubbed the Meguiars Hot Rims Chrome Wheel Cleaner using a brush and it took me 4 tries but there is virtually NO rust on the shiny chrome wheels. Very pleased.
I used this on my chrome wire wheels and it worked great although they were not very dirty to begin with but even slightly dirty spoke are hard to clean and this worked better than any other wheel cleaner I’ve used
Hey I just used this stuff and it's INCREDIBLE.....my rims looked like shit and all I did was follow instructions but I did leave sit for like 30 seconds then spray off twice and wipe with cloth and looks great
You don't need to wet the wheel before using the Hot Rims cleaner. Spraying with water first is to remove the loose dirt before you use the cleaner. If you need to scrub by hand wear protective gloves, or use a brush with a handle. Try not to get it on the brake rotors, and rinse the rotors well, in case you did.
The fail video is of the non acid based cleaner, this is the acid-based cleaner, bought it after watching your video and the acid based one you used worked excellent. Thanks for the tip!

You need to read the directions. Spray on dry 'dry' cool wheel. The cleaner contains acid and water neutralizes acid so wetting the wheel first only starts neutralizing the cleaner before it can work.
I followed the directions to a T but I thought exactly what you are saying. My Water ph pretty much always 7.0 and the water would raise the ph of the cleaner. It has been a year since making this video so the directions were probably revised.
Just bought a new set of chrome wheels. My salesman told me not to use anything but soap and water. Said cleaners have chemicals in it that will make them pit. Any truth to this?

I also picked up a Keene Hookah so I can dive the deepest end of the swimming hole. The hookah I made with the predator engine was far too heavy to pack around. If you only have 4 wheels then a single bottle will work fine, if you an RV or tractor trailer or multiple cars then grab a couple. :) Be sure you get the right formula for the finish of your wheels.
I would assume that it would be okay especially since PVD is suppose to be more durable. I would call Meguiars just to be sure though, a few minutes on their customer service line will give you peace of mind. 1 (800) 347-5700
LoL, I kid you not, I just bought some Turtle Wax brand wheel and tire cleaner tonight for another video. Lets hope its not too much because my water is metered. :)
Well the main reason why I didn't use my towels was because they were contaminated with grit, the other reason was that I was feeling the wheel for pitting and the start of bubbles or other defects.
Also, some people wax their cars with their bare hands to be sure not to scratch the finish, the same thing applies here, especially with my cleaning Microfiber towels having fallen on the ground. Luckily my drying towel was safe. :) This cleaner is a little harsh though so I would not recommend doing this if you have sensitive skin or cuts on your hands.
you really want to bring those wheels back to life take them off and with a good paint brush do the whole wheel. never had an issue when left for more than 15sec.

It depends on the grime that has built up, but yes if you wash your car regularly and don't have bad brake dust then regular car was soap and water works fine.
Mothers Chrome and Mag polish and a good buffing tool like the Mothers PowerCone polisher or the Mothers Power Ball. You can also do this by hand, with wheels and with other aluminum polishes. Mothers Chrome and Mag is my favorite though.
Total garbage, this product is high in acidic chemicals, which will completely destroy your chrome wheels over time. I implore you, use mild soap and water when cleaning chrome wheels.
This doesn't show much as far as the cleaning ability of the product. Two washes and a hand wipe is way too much effort. May as well used a brush and some dishwashing liquid. One cleaning would have done it without repeated washing!
Well no, I don't agree with that. When I don't use this on my wheels I have to scrub much longer and pay more attention to the small spaces like the rivets. I also notice that it usually is not as bright when I am done and gets dirty quicker. Here is the logic behind that, if the wheel is still dirty it has more bits of dirt for new dirt to get stuck to. Most all quality wheel cleaners have acidic chemicals to help dissolved road grime. Road Grime is a combination of heavy metals, tars, oils and other pollutants. Dishwashing liquid does not cut road grime very well. When you look at the MSDS of this product then you will start to understand WHY it works so well, the acids used and its pH of 2.8. Dish soap us usually neutral with a pH of 7.4. Unless you have a pressure waster, a little agitation goes a long way to help an already great product achieve the best possible results. So I hope that better explains why this product works and why I like to use it and will continue to use Meguiars. Go ahead, give it a try, its cheap and most places will take a return on it if you are not satisfied. :)

This stuff works really good. I use it on my chrome 20" Armada Platinum wheels. Blows my mind how well it works
I used on my chrome wheels and it changed the color of them to a more polished look. It dried for like 1 second. I sprayed in dry rim smfhhh.

No, it will damage the paint.
If there is any paint on your wheels or clear coat, treat them as painted wheels.
Use an all wheel cleaner for your rims/wheels.

Probably not that is usually the result of wrong cleaner used in the past and if you live up north road salt only makes it worse.
