- I want to show you how to recycle and reuse old PVC fittings. This method of undo old glued up fittings would possibly save a trip back to the hardware store and few extra dollars in your pocket. Those old used pvc fittings you have removed, don't discard them, make them reusable again.
Bam…just saved the day. I glued the heatpump fitting without the crown. Big scare solved in 5 mins. Thanks!
Love ❤️ from 🇳🇪
Thank you very much! I followed your example and was able to remove the PVC pipe from the in-line fitting in preparation for gluing in a new valve.
Excellent video! Thank you Sir! And to think that I’ve been wasting fittings all these years.
No problem. Any time!
Thanks this helped a bunch!
@@Moondust_857 no problem
Brilliant thanks.
@@jamesallen6007 or cheap and frugal. Along with hating to drive to the store to get more fittings. Lol
very helpful, thanks!

That’s great thanks so much!

Homeboy, you just saved me a ton of money!
Sweet.
How do you clean the old glue out
There shouldn't be much glue left on it. If there is glue not allowing you to push the pipe all the way in, then plung a flat screwdriver knockdown on the high spots. If you really want to remove all the glue, use a round cylinder flap sanding attachmentvon a drill and polish it. I don't think it is necessary. I first use primer, then when you apply plenty of pvc glue over the old glue. It will melt the old glue. It will be plenty strong.
Does a hair drier get hot enough to achieve this?
Nope. You can use a propane touch.
How did you clean the reused connector? Sandpaper?
Normally, there are no chunks left on the surface. If there is some or excess glue, scrap it off with a utility knife. the purple cleaner to clean the surfaces. When you apply the pvc cement, it will get hot and dissolve anything on the surface. Apply a little extra cement. This will fill in any gaps or imperfections.
I guess I will go and spend $10 on a heat gun instead of 50 cents for a fitting.
I'll do it so I can save a 2" schedule 80 union that starts at $50.00
Your .50cent fitting doesn't exist anymore. A 2" PVC Sch40 fitting is closer to $5.00 now.
A $10 heat gun is useful for a lot of things and will save you money over and over again for a lot of things.
