Y'know, I feel like they should add a character with a shield projector. Taking a card from Evolve: Stage 2, in that game there's a character that can place a shield drone. It's a hovering, stationary turret that will place a shield on any character in range that is actively being attacked. The shield has HP and the drone slowly regenerates the shield's HP when it's not in use. I feel like that'd be such a good idea for Overwatch. Place the drone in a good spot like Illari's turret, you can still snipe and one-shot a squishy, but if the squishy is getting hit with sustained damage they essentially have a second health bar. In Evolve: Stage 2 the drone uses a very obvious beam towards its target, and it's very easily destroyed. You can ignore it to some degree with enough damage, but it's easier to focus the drone.
I don’t understand why they fully remove some of this stuff. If you already coded it in the game and have the effects made for these leave them in for custom lobbies. You know how much time this might save some of the creators that make custom game modes? They don’t have to make so many new effects that way and could use existing things that were already in the game at one time. Just make it selectable. I guess that would force them to innovate tho since they use a lot of old stuff and bring it back as limited events now 🤦♂️
