After listening to Kyuhee paying this piece "Choros N°1 - Heitor Villa Lobos" I can't listen to others playing this. She raised this piece to a higher romance / feeling level. Thank You Kyuhee Park!
She plays it even better here, She just spoilt a few notes right at the end by rushing them through Most of it is goodCheck ua-cam.com/video/-9Yk9qxC3Pg/v-deo.html
@@Agnaldo533 Thanks, Turíbio Santos it's the greatest interpret of Villa Lobos there is. Not that her version isn't amazing coz it is, but there is nobody like Turíbio when it comes to Villa Lobos.
The best interpretation I have ever heard of "Choros". It lacks nothing. Incredible that an Asian girl can give "Choros" the right tempo, the exact rhythm and cadence Villalobos dreamed of.
True. I scanned UA-cam and listened to about 10 of these pieces by some of the greatest guitarists, and this one is the best. Manuel Barrueco is good too. I was surprised to learn that it was a little Korean girl who did better than John Williams and Julian Bream! In fact, I found Julian's peace horrible. He rushed it way too fast and played without feeling.
She is a virtuoso guitarist. It seems to me that she loves her guitar more than anything else in the world. She simply caresses the strings with love and passion.
Best dam guitarist on the planet. What is up with so few hits? Incredible sound - clean musical playing and style. So often you hear players slop through this... It's fantastic that this got posted to UA-cam.
This interpretation has so much body and sweetness. You have all the technical beauty and added romantic beauty that was not even part of the canon so far. Very impressive and keep doing things your way.
Choro is a very unique and traditional music performed in the streets and around bar tables with pandeiro, mandolin, cavaquinho, 6 and 7 strings guitar and flute. This song in particular is a too formal choro composition for a 6 strings guitar solo made by a brazilian genius maestro in the 20's. Her interpratation of this song is even far away from the roots of that music, she has a different heritage, different influences and she is probably have never even been into a roda de choro in brazil. What I mean to say about that is: it's just different! Imagine a very traditional food from your country in a gourmet recipe of it, then prepared by a professional cooker from another country of a very different culture in her/his way? It may tastes better for a mexican a sashimi of piranha with malagueta, to an indian an strogonoff of pheasant with curry, and so on...
Eric, thanks for posting this wonderful piece, played so expressively by Kyuhee Park. Such a relief to have some of her great playing free of terrible background noise. She deserves only the very best recording of her exceptional playing. THANKS!
When I started to play the guitar an old musician friend of mine told me: "The guitar is the mother of all instruments". Andrés Segovia said that the guitar is like a small orchestra. Both things are really true in the hands of this virtuous woman.

This is great!!!...I was searching for a version which played the opening secondary dominant chord sweetly...and hear it is....The Julian Bream version also has a uniqueness to it...but this is really a beautiful performance..wonderful playing, tone, expression, dynamics and interpretation.

This is definitely not how Villa Lobos heard it. THIS (Villa Lobos playing) ua-cam.com/video/UZkEYK4WKKg/v-deo.html is how he heard it. I prefer Kyuhee's version. Yes, she swings.

Loved it. The dynamics of the first F# chord is unbelievably sweet. Usually they play the first three notes mp and the chord fortissimo :-)
Playing that chord like that brings a completely new dimension to the whole piece. How I hated that slamming chord.
truly a ladies' view of the piece. beautiful!

Other people play it so fast. I hate that. This one is very nice.
she is playing with small hands and short fingers over my imagination.
she must do many effort for standing on top level player.
Sounds so square, doesnt sound like choro. feels like a mitilary march.
