I so wanted her to portray Nina Simone. I always felt she had the perfect contralto, style, and beauty to do it justice. This only convinced me more. No one else has the guts to sing Nina's songs. That band is the Bizness!

I love her, but in fact her French diction and pronunciation are far from perfect. She's singing it almost as though she doesn't understand what lyrics mean: "Don't leave me . . . I'll do anything to make you stay . . . I'll be the shadow of your shadow, the shadow of your hand, the shadow of your dog." The way she tosses off the lyrics you would have no idea of the desperation these lyrics capture.

How do you arrive at your conclusion? Lyrics are subject to intrepretation by the artist! Therefore, the way she sang was her interpretation of the lyrics and no one should try to pigeonhole her into how she should interpret music! To do so is tantamount to censure!!💯

she didn‘t shake before, her voice was very good before the miseducation. maybe she didn‘t practise much in the recent years. also her voice sounds damaged. even in 2005 her performances on block party were nice.
