Woaa That's exactly the type of tutorial for Fusion that are missing on UA-cam. Camera projections and stuff like that. Excellent!

Pretty good stuff. There aren’t a lot of well produced Fusion tutorials so I really appreciate you putting this out there.

I have been exploring UA-cam in hopes of finding advanced tutorials on Fusion, but unfortunately, I haven't come across any so far. I would greatly appreciate it if you could continue to produce these valuable videos for those of us who are eager to deepen our understanding of Fusion. Thank you for your efforts!

Is there a way to create a reusable/procedural depth blur effect, that only needs a depth map as an input? And that uses a similar technique with slicing the image into 3d layers and creatint clean plates so the depth blur wont have artifacts? If so id love to have a tutorial on it! The lazy me is just thinking it would be way easier to make a macro tool instead of doing it manually xd. (I know there are paid plugins for that, but im not only lazy but also broke)

As someone who composites virtual scenes a lot, this video seems like it could be very useful. But there's something I'm not understanding about the significance of what was achieved. You essentially created a mask and blurred the background... something a magic mask or depth map with blur could have more easily achieved. What sort of things can you achieve with this technique? I think I'm missing the "WHY".

Great question! The use cases are many!
Having a 3D Scene setup like this is good for set extensions, adding more camera movement, adding fog to scenes, and more.
The Depth of Field effect was just a really quick example.
I for one have had great use of exporting these kinds of meshes with footage projected on them into Blender, and used them as emission objects to light 3D Objects, get good reflections and implement them a little better. But first and foremost, I think it’s important to showcase what Fusion is capable of.
