    It would have been more fair to use the Taylor Baby

      colaboytje I agree. They are all nice guitars. I've always wanted to test out a Maton.

      Price point. Gs mini is closer to the other two

    My findings testing these three were that the Martin sounds ok but plays very nicely. The Maton has a more open and balanced sound than the Martin but factory setup is absolutely woeful.The GS Mini is louder than the Maton but can also sound a little crude at times.hence why I chose a Maton EMM-6. It literally blows this lot out of the park and is well worth the extra dollars.

    Having as I do a Walden all-solid guitar that started in perfect intonation and has drifted over the ten years I've had it, the adjustable truss rod on the Taylor is a big point...

    Taylor GS Mini in new Koa version sounds pretty remarkable..

    Another thing to remember about Ed Sheeran''s guitar is that it's not just built for its sound it's built to take a beating. As Ed uses it as a drum kit in his live performances. He beats it with his knuckles, fist, fingers or the palm of his hand to get different drum sounds which are then repeated via a loop pedal.

    Even Maton admits the Mini isn't meant for unplugged / mic'd performances. The magic is when it is plugged in.

    The mini maton sounds real sweet on the treble, the gs mini is a bit muffled on the treble but definitely has bigger volume. Would be glad to have both 😂

    I actually think the maton sounds a lot better than the taylor, although its lacking a bit in fullness compared to the taylor the maton has such a nice tight sound. The taylor seems really jangly, or sloppy, maybe. I don't know, i do think the maton sound a ton better, though.

      Not with laminate back & sides you won’t - solid timbers get better with age, laminates well you’re stuck with how they sound at the beginning

    Sound comparisons don’t give much away as to how a guitar feels or responds to the player. I’ve owned and played Taylors, and they feel “loud”; a lot of noise from my fretting hand, not as much nuance as I would like (but of course the “playability” is great).
    The Mini Maton has solid back and sides. It feels great and responds well to subtleties in my playing.
    The Martin is pretty dead. Wouldn’t buy or recommend one. Too bad because I own a solid wood Martin and love it, but these mini M’s want to be plugged in to a pedalboard.

    I think you should tell us the strings you've used on these guitars. I think the maton has Elixer nanoweb 52. That's why it's brighter.

    Only trying to help...using any type of stereo micing is going to catch the movement of arm strumming etc. Use an MS set up so you get centre focus but can adjust the room...much tighter focus. A wider variety of playing would help greatly to highlight each guitar strength. I ended up with a Chinese Caraya solid (all) mahogany for a third of the price and intonation is great. The GS has the best intonation by far, of those 3.

    Playing the mahogany Ed Sheeran+ (each) Signature for several years now. Like it a lot. Sounds very nice acoustic & terrific plugged into an amp. ( Fishman Loudbox & Roland Cubestreet) Someone else's ears may like the Maton or Taylor ....tried them all & decide for yourself. All are great travel/busking guitars. :-)

    E' la chitarra ideale da utilizzare soprattutto con la loop perchè ha pochissimo ritorno di suono per via della cassa piccola.Non a caso Ed Sheeran usava solo la Lx1.
    Francamente non ho mai provato la Maton ... però il rapporto qualità /prezzo lo vince Taylor a mani basse.

      In my opinion, Matons are the best sounding plugged-in (emphasis on plugged-in) guitars in the world and one of the best feeling guitars to play. Very comfortable and easy to play with a very balanced and rich tone. However, if you are not going to play plugged in then get the Taylor.

    • @DelScully
      @DelScully 9 років тому +2

      awesomebarnes The martins have a much more warmer tone to them compared to the taylors. Most people where I live say martin or many other brands over taylor. Taylor might sound a bit more loud, less bass I find, and more high pitched. I hate it personally ahha!

    dove hummingbird aj 220sce or martin lx1?? ( the martin is just acoustic). I need a versatile guitar to play blues, indie, rock, funk.. i know the martin has a lower volume but it would be great if you can advise me knowing that i also play together with a piano.. thaks a lot

    • @bettermusic
      @bettermusic  9 років тому

      Iñaki Caffera Meidana Thanks for your comment. It's really going to depend on your situation. Are you playing with the acoustic mic'd up/plugged in? If so, then it really isn't going to matter. If it is purely acoustic, then you might need to work with your pianist so that you are both around the same volume. Certainly possible. Feel free to give us a call if you would like more information (6282 3199).

    couldn't you have just named the guitars onscreen as titles as they were played because your voice interrupts the sounds I came to hear. Also, play exactly the same, for the same duration. AND..as noted elsewhere, tune all and use same strings. I wish I could see that occur. Cheers

      @NS-qj8xj 3 роки тому

      I agree, the Maton sounded the best in this video. The Martin just sounds bad... And the GS Mini (in this demonstration) also sounded terrible. The Maton had a nice tone, even though it wasn't very loud. Which brings me to the second point. Matons blow away the competition with their pickups. So once you do a plugged in demonstration, I think you'll find the Maton blows the Taylor away.
      now we just need to see a side by side with a Cole Clark Little Lady

      Do a plugged in comparison; a travel guitar for stage use is useless unless it sounds good plugged in...
      The Maton absolutely anhialates the taylor plugged in! Beautiful AP5 pick up system and sound

    • @jm3494
      @jm3494 9 років тому +2

      ***** from a playing perspective and non comercial / selling i'd definitely say the Maton.
      The maton doesn't give as good-a unplugged sound, however plugged in it sounds better than many full sized acoustic guitars.
      The taylor mini, sounds pretty good unplugged, though not as good as a full sized, and pretty awful plugged in.
      so you get a guitar thats not really 'good' at either, whereas at least with the others like the maton or the martin they sound great plugged in at gigs
      just my 2c
