    I find seeing someone do something a lot easier than having to read instructions. I always look too much into the instructions and thinking I'm doing something wrong.
    It's always a lot easier when you just do it!

    Thanks a lot for this! I have a 1985 Dodge D150 4 speed that needs one. It's only just rolled 26k original miles with zero rust and It's like a time machine inside. I really baby it although if I could find a well put together small block 360 I would consider taking out the original slant six and making it a fun truck.

      Wally Works on Stuff it went really smooth, the only Problem was finding the power as my electrical is a rats nest lol. It looks really cool but honestly it hasn’t been that useful, I still use my ear, I’m just so used to it

      You Grow I Grow haha I know the feeling of electrical problems. I’m the fourth owner, and every single one has added their own stuff so there’s about a million wires going a million different places. And thanks for the info, I’d assume for the lights you just ran it off the same post as for the other gauge lights?

    Was pretty sure how to go about this but as others have said, its nice to see some video of it. Luckily I preemptively bought a box of spade connectors so hopefully that will fit my hei. I bought pretty much the same autogauge/autometer but its black. Need mine to regulate that big block during burnouts lol Last show I was at I just hung her out there and said if she goes she goes.. I won so that was bonus. Plus im installing a new carb so id like to see what the idle is and be able to adjust. Thanks

    Just bought one of the cheaper ones and the installation instructions tell you what the various functions are...after it's installed?! So thanks a bunch for this video. Also, if no one else has mentioned it, your tach was stuck on 1k rpm before powering up and then it worked right. Mine was stuck on 4k. Had to tap it pretty hard to move the needle. I thought it was defective.

    Question-- I need a tachometer just for timing purposes. I don't want to install it inside my 1970 C10. I know about the tachometer connection on my HEI distributor. Since I just want to use it for when I'm under the hood, can I use the " battery " connection on the HEI and just unplug it after I'm finished? Thanks for your time---

    I appreciate the video, but I have to ask. Why would you mount it there like that? why wouldn't you keep the clean look and mount the tach next to the speedo and reloacte the fuel gauge to one of the left 4 gauges? Just not sure why someone would want a big chunky gauge sticking out from somewhere is's not suppsoe to be.

    I don't understand :( what actually measures rpm of the driveshaft? I mean, shouldn't we add something, a mechanical tool, that is directly attached to drive shaft?

    • @FuelInjectionSucks
      @FuelInjectionSucks  5 років тому

      Not really, it's not important unless you are doing ridiculous high speeds or have a vehicle with a known weak driveshaft. Engine RPM's are critical.

    • @65oh7
      @65oh7 5 років тому +4

      The reading is caused by counting the sparks that happen out of the coil. They're directly related to the rotation of the crankshaft. You'd want to measure the driveshaft rpm if you were using a speedometer.
      If you notice the set of switches that can set the cylinder number in the back of the tach, that's how many pulses from the coil it knows to count before moving.

    • @FuelInjectionSucks
      @FuelInjectionSucks  5 років тому +1

      There should be an extra port for illumination on your fuse panel. You can also just hook it to key on accessory or ignition and then it will light up when the key is on.
