OCD isn’t just about physical compulsions, there are mental compulsions as well. Compulsions are compulsions whether they are physical or mental. All of them serve to make OCD bigger and more overwhelming.
So how are you supposed to handle mental compulsions?
In this week’s UA-cam video I talk about what mental compulsions are and the best strategies to decrease them.

I just want to cry for myself, this is agony. I know not to do compulsions but I just haven't got it in me not to... Each time it worsens, ocd that is. Which is obvious but I can't bring myself to do any of the steps to help, it's pure hell.

Hello I love your videos! Can you please do a video on how to deal with metaphysical ocd. I always feel like everything gives off a certain vibe or energy and the good energies get contaminated and take on the bad energies of other things in my life. It feels like I have to constantly have to avoid everything I enjoy in fear that they will develop a negative vibe attached to the past traumatic event.

Natasha-thanks so much for all the work you are doing. We just signed up for one of your online courses. My 25 YO Son has thoughts of death and dying-we are always checking to make sure he doesn’t mean Suicidal thoughts-gratefully it’s not that. We are trying to brainstorm ideas of exposures-death is a tough one. We watch a lot of movies that have death in them-horror and such. I’m spitballing hear but how would you approach exposure to death? Look at pictures of dead bodies, like you’ve mentioned about vomit-black and white pictures then color pictures, videos, the movie-“Faces of Death”? We came across a “Radio Lab” Pod called “ Cheating Death”. Someone said pickup a batch of newborn kittens that are in rough shape-nurse them along-but most likely one will die-I personally think this is really extreme. But maybe ask the Humane Society if he could witness a euthanasia? What do you think the steps are?

Is it possible that your mental compulsion is to have a thought of harming someone? I have no intention of hurting someone and the compulsion brings me distress and guilt. Is this still like pure OCD?
