nicely done video of Iloilo city. I've been planning on moving to Iloilo city for the last 6 months, and I agree, the infrastructure, less pollution, cheaper rentals, esplanade walks, and safe bicycle lanes, makes it a great place for an expat to grow roots. I'll be there mid november.
I really liked Iloilo. I was there Nov 2023 for a week, and May 2024 for 10 days. I would certainly consider living there. In fact, it's on my list for my long stay there for up to a year.
Hello Aaron, it's amazing to know you're here in Avida, too. We are staying at Tower 2. We've been here for more than a month now. Hoping to meet you up sometimes, whenever you're available.
When builder's give discount that means sales are slowing down, signals that condo bubble is popping. There are over supply of condo's for investment (airBnB) in Iloilo, soon there will be a lot of distress seller selling this units in the market due to negative income per month. It will get worst soon due combination of pre-selling units, RFO's and distress sellers, they will be competing each other to sell these units. There will be a firesale coming.
Aaron thanks for the great video on Iloilo! Excellent info particularly on housing costs ( both rent n buy) and food. Are you still staying in Cebu City as a home base?
Hi Aaron, on the face of it, Illoilo looks nice and clean...BUT it looks desolate, no crowds or population frequenting the roads, streets ..Little atmosphere.
Iloilo is very near Boracay island. You may also try to visit Baguio it"s just 4hours away fromManila. You don"t need to go for an airplane, just by bus and you'll get there.
I wonder how inheritance works with property; can you leave it to your US family/children (I mean, odds are you would hook up with a local gal but what if)? 180K USD is decent for a modern 2BR condo situation.
Yeah I think you technically could with a condo I believe a foreigner can have full ownership of it. I do know you would have to get lawyer there and they could be expensive. Cheaper than US of course
Yes, condos can be willed to anyone, regardless of nationality. Legal services are very reasonable & accessible in Ph & the cost of registering a will & testament is very modest.
I made a mistake and moved to Bacolod a few months ago and this place doesn't compare to IloIlo. I've been in the Philippines for almost three years and I lived North and Angales City before and I am moving back up there in a few weeks because I just don't like this area at all and neither does my filipina wife.
My wife is from Bacolod we’re living in California now. I have watched so many videos on UA-cam about iliolo and have fell in love I told my wife we’re moving to Iliolo instead of Bacolod. Anyways it’s only a 1 hour ferry ride there.
No, the price for new condos are fixed but currently OFW or foreigners are the only folks you can afford them. They are pretty pricey right now, we actually have a two bedroom unit in town. I am assuming there will be a downturn at some point but right now Iloilo is hitting on all cylinders so folks want to buy in, condos are not sitting on the market they are selling rather quickly.
@@stephenr2195In the top end / most luxurious condos in Cebu city, 80-90% of the sales are to Filipinos, only 10-20% to foreigners. The actual rich in PH are local business owners and elite.
Question: You're an American. You probably have an American Driver's License from your respective state. Is Renting a car/motorbike allowed with your American Driver's License? Or ... Are you required to fill out more paperwork to operate a vehicle in Iloilo? Thank you in advance.
Yes as far as I know you only need an America license although you probably technically need an international license, and for scooter you just need money
If you dont examine medical costs, you are misleading retirees, not to mention the medical care is very sub standard to western standards....you are not doing accurate portrayal...of real costs....
Lol substandard? I came to manila for dental implants and it costs me 1/4 of New York price. No waiting. Walk ins accepted. Better standard than US. 😂😂😂 where are you getting your fake news? Maybe you are talking about public hospitals. 😅😅
@@pektowanderlust Not public, I have spent the night in private hospital for treatment, first hand experience, dental too....I am not saying you would always have bad medical in PI....depends...I dont trust PI medical....
Looks desolate. No character. No people walking around. Happy Cebu has the variety and mix of local and modern it does. Ill probably skip and check out Davao.
This video was probably taken in early part of the day (morning) or the weekend( i assume).I have lived in Iloilo City for 2 decades. This is a typical early part of the day or lazy weekend in this city. Normally it gets crazy traffic during peak hours and the streets get crowded especially in the main thoroughfares and the downtown area during the day and late evening. Still you get that mixed quaint country feel and peaceful city vibe in Iloilo City compared to the chaos in huge metropolitan areas in the Philippines like Manila and Cebu. Iloilo has its distinct character and full of history. More conservative in a sense. However, Ilonggos are friendly and loving people thus the monicker "City of Love". :)
Video is stupid, you are looking at real costs to live in Philippines,,,Been here 12 in Cebu, very misleading what you say....Tell costs to fly to Thailand and seek medical attention when serious illness....I have lived thru all this personally with partner getting $75,000 pesos shots for 6 months for real issue, and received very bad info on my echocardiogram in Cebu....I had redone in US, Cebu info was bull shit, I was okay, told different in major Cebu private hospital....

Hi Aaron,..thanks for a great 👍 video of Iloilo city.
Take care and keep up the great work.
Thanks for that! Take care as well
Hi Aaron, iloilo looks great. Definitely up and coming. Can you make more videos for there please.
Night life perhaps? Bars, nightclubs, etc..
Yeah what I showed driving by on the motorbike is pretty much the extent of it maybe 40 well known bars in the area
red lights are banned in Iloilo, but if you want bars that's available everywhere.

Awesome to see you on the road to 10k
Thanks I appreciate that! It's been slow but almost there! haha
Thanks for sharing the price info. If you stay long term or maybe you could look around for a better long term lease or buy a certified used one.

Yeah I think that would appeal to a lot of people. Quieter less chaos wider roads... more relaxed overall
Most of ilonggos are professionals they are busy working during daytime on weekdays..
Quite the opposite of Manila, but seems good for retirement when you want peace and quiet.
Thanks for the video. It's expensive in everything. They just wanna make quick buck in Iloilo.

Not only Iloilo City. There's a couple more hidden gems in Panay Island that some foreigners would like to keep a secret.

The condo purchase prices are too high for ilo ilo.
yep, agreed

Demand is very high in Iloilo especially on real estate.
