IDK if it got addressed in the stream, but Polished Crystal has a feature where just pressing down, select, b, lets you reset the clock without entering a password. It might be worth reaching out to that dev to see how he accomplished it.
probably nostalgia, but I feel that overall the collection of all the themes of different towns in previous gen were all good to very good. None were bad. Now, in many towns in the new gen, the themes range from decent to very good. But that 1 decent theme makes the entire game's theme just a bit worse in comparison to previous gens.
I did a vanilla Pokémon Diamond Nuzlocke and I feel that statement about Rare Candies so much. Like… so much of my life spent grinding wild mons to get the same result as 3 minutes of candies.
I played gen 3 the most, and while the fidelity is much better, particularly the overworld, nothing beats gen 2 sprites and fighting animations. Even in the blank white void. Doesn't matter. So crisp and clean and feels just right.
Grinding can be fun if 1) you are playing on the handheld and 2) not streaming. As I'm going through Platinum blind, one of the fun things to do is to learn with each playthrough which mon do I need for the next gym and prioritizing it (I barely grind now, because trainer fights are always almost enough if I level up the right mon), where are the best places to grind and which pokemon work best for it, when is the right time to stop grinding (I used to max-level my entire team for fights that require 2 mons) and loosing psychic types to Pursuit. Without grinding, Pokemon becomes just a one boss fight after another. I don't mind getting some chill in-between.
As someone who is currently playing through Crystal with 16 badges, getting my whole team up 25 levels to fight Red exclusively on wild Pokemon is not very fun
