The girl you liked is called Rami, she's one of the best vocalist of babymonster alongside Rora. If you want to check out ore of her you can watch her cover of pick up your feelings (ua-cam.com/video/jtd6Nn1Wc5s/v-deo.html) , she did this cover during the last evaluation and back then her stage name was Haram.
You can also chack out the video introducing Haram on babymonster yt channel, you can hear her sing and progress as she trained at yg.

I honestly thought Haram would have lead a bit more in this song. Her voice is so smooth and her tone breaks apart from the other members
I dont think it's a wise move. Rami's vocal is incredible good but she is the best in giving the adlibs and support this is the best. In the next song I think Rami will slay and also Rora.
Saw someone say you should react to Haram's (a.k.a. rami) last evaluation Pick Up Your Feelings cover and i 100% 2nd that because her vocal abilty is INSANE! She has a certain tone and soul in her voice that i dont hear a lot in kpop.
You should check out Rami’s (the girl you were impressed with) solo performances from last evaluation. There are clips for that.
rami and ahyeon plus rora are the voice that can i really love😊
RAMI/SHIN HARAM, AHYEON/JUNG AHYEON and RORA/LEE DAIN are my favorite members in BABYMONSTER. I really love their voices. They are so talented. They are so good at singing. Their vocals are superb. I love them so much. They have so much potential. They are great.
Honestly I feel, batter up was the tail end of black pink’s flavor for them to try out.
Pharita is a solid vocal, but I think they are letting her and Chiquita take some of Ahyeon’s vocal lines for now until she returns.
Rami is the ultimate vocal of 5th gen so far. Her tone, her agility, her execution is so clean. I think right now they want to showcase the group, so she has been relegated to more of a support, not because of a lacking, but because she is that strong to help carry the rest of the girl’s overall vocal color. Rather than being a forced standout in the beginning.
YG is smart to change this up and show a softer side, despite the ludicrous backlash of the concept.

I do agree with you, in this track IMO only Pharita and Chiqi vocal suits this type of song, Rami and Rora is more deep tone so Rora only get little line and Rami do the support with the incredible adlibs or I think they want all members to shine, but when the song release, people also show interest to Asa vocal tone. So, by not letting them show themselves to public, these 2 songs just for the thirst of the fans and the fact they already filmed this MV in December proves that they already prepare 'something'.

I am also kind of expecting something big from them for the complete debut.
These songs are far too tame for a company like YG.

I agree with the belting part. Pharita is a good singer, I LOVE her voice on verses, but definitely not a belter. They keep giving her that role and not sure why cause she even had it in their winter song. The belt hurts the ears and how you described it was perfect. I’ve been waiting for YG to let Rami loose on the vocals. I was hoping it would be on this song but again they got her tamed. All Baby Monster members are so talented! Can’t wait to continue watching them. Big stan🥰

Yeah the over-produced high note by Pharita sounded weird. But its the producer's artistic choice. Pharita belting it live is so much better.
Pharita has been trained to be a belter (maybe the rest as well) as shown in her Intro.
@@ignatiuschua5268 I think Pharita is a natural belter. I even think she had voice lessons pre-YG. Always sounded stable in all her live performances that were shown to us.
Pharita's high note always in piercing tone which where to fit in the song the producer have to use it well. In DREAM pre-debut song, she belt around the end and harmonize to Ahyeon voice which turn out emotionally grandly impact for audiences.

I said the same thing. That belt felt very nasally and piercing ; didn't really fit there but its a beautiful song.
Completely agree with your analysis, critical review, and constructive criticism. The belts, the tightness of the vocal, it did not sit right… and could have been done differently. Overall they did great, however, there’s room for improvement, absolutely.

You should also watch the Special Stage version. I think this is the actual live version in that the girls have the microphone in hand and actually is able to express much better with freedom of movement.. The live version you watched I believe is the raw studio version used in the m/v but because they are recording for the m/v their movements are more restricted. YG marketing dropped 3 versions to keep us fans guessing and reviewing which has boosted the views hugely.

Batter Up just smashed the fastest 221 million views in kpop debut history. Baby Monster has also signed with Pepsi Thailand as their brand representative with a series of advertising releases of the Baby Monster girls. Batter Up is the official Pepsi Thailand advertising jingle. Stuck in the middle struggled and finally got to 66 million views from clever YG marketing. If they just dropped the m/v by itself it would not even get to 50 million views but by dropping 3 versions of the same song, the 3 songs together is cracking 100 million views. But mainly from fans listening again and again wondering if the Stage version is live or is the live version actually live.

I totally agree with you about Pharita's belt, and i feel that in all of her notes in the predebut performances too, there's somethingh about her tone that i don't like at all, Rora and Rami are my fav vocalists
Yup, her voice is really powerful but it didn't fit the high notes her powerful voice is more for a pure singing not belting but they are fresh for sure she can really improve in years to come. For me the belt part is more suitable for Ahyeon and Rami and maybe that the missing factor cuz ahyeon is not there and pharita needs to feel the part cuz Rami is doing adlib. 🤔 But neither the less they are all doing really great hopefully more ballad in the future!

Not sure if you’ve watched it on your own, but Last Evaluation showcases their voices a bit more. You reacted to those intro videos (and those were pre-last evaluation too) which were just a taste. You get to hear them sing 3 times in the show (as units, a full group and solo performance).

As a YG stan, I liked Batter Up but I do agree that given the vocals they have in this group, they could have differentiated them from the start and even go the rnb route. I guess they wanted to cement the "We're the new YG" thing first? I'm just sad to see the hate and people calling them Blackpink 2.0 the same way BP were called 2NE1 2.0 back then.

That high note on the end of the bridge, i also dislike it. It's not that the vocalist is bad, but it was placed so weirdly.
The back hair girl in the bridge who you thought had a nice tone to break it up is their Main rapper Asa.
the girl you are searching for in the beginning, is Chiquita, she is doing the ad libs before she opens with the first lines of the song. you can see her better in the special stage version.
And Teddy is not taking part in BabyMonster. He is not in any of their songs dating back to the beginning of BM Evaluation clips.
Nice reaction thank you. I do hope you check out the girls' performances before their debut. Rami was Haram then and had black hair haha. She and Rora are the strongest singers in the group but all the members are excellent singers even the 2 rappers.
Edit: laughing at your outrage at YG starting with Batter Up for the group. "Look at this! Look at the material!" Definitely. Batter Up was a headscratcher esp since YG created pre-debut videos that showcased all the girls' talents. It's like they didn't know what they have in their hands.

I agree with you, but the funny thing is that this group is so capable of belting and do great things with their voices, but whoever produce this song didn't let the best vocalis shine.
The closed vowel in the belt made it sound very nasally, forced and sharp. I would have had another girl take the top line and have her harmonize.

I feel sorry for the ladies as Sheesh was just kicked from local rankings. It didn't generate enough votes & Babymonster latest stunt of a soft re-Debut is not going over well.
What was YG thinking on this as this is amateur. The ladies are talented but their management is at present not doing them any favors by these latest stunts.
I say take off 6 months and try to fix where their weakness are & start focusing on their strengths. Which is their dancing & rap vocals. Maybe a change in the lineup is also in order.

YGE have Batter Up as Baemon's debut song for one reason. They wanted to secure first the YG stans who love those beats and swagger. Some people may hate it but we can't deny that more people actually loving it by hitting 200M views the fastest by a debut song. What I really wished YG have done was had Batter Up and Stuck in the Middle released at the same time like what was done with Blackpink debut songs, Boombayah and Whistle. This could have lessened the amount of hate that debut song Batter Up was getting. BUT again haters always came with something to hate...them be saying, they copied Blackpink. lol
