Mini Gold at the basement of a funeral home was my favorite. When you are up north, could be a double date 🤣

@@RuthandThomas I found it on my Roadside America App. It’s a regular funeral home that I have been to several times before. No one believed me. There are no ads for it either. So I called and had to set it up with the Funeral Director and they were so nice. Only caveat is if a last second funeral happens, you’ll have to reschedule. So fun yet very creepy. Especially since it is in the basement and next to the embalming room. One of our greatest finds.
Hahaha oh my goodness... I just found it.. Ahlgrim Acres in Pallatine!! Hahaha it looks so fun and spooky. It is now very much on the bucket list. Is it free!? Wow. Mini Golf in a funeral home. Did the funeral director give you guys a background history of why they put a golf course in their funeral home??
@@RuthandThomas It is free but we bought a bunch of shirts to help support them. They even gave us pops and snacks. The guy who owned it started with a 1 hole and kept growing. Much smaller town before. If I wasn’t going to turn myself it into a diamond after I die, I would go there.
Why when you said "paint your partner" I thought we would literally be painting on each others skin 😂 like hes going to make me a tiger or simething 🤣🐯
Haha you can certainly try that out as well! You might want to use skin-safe paint, but other than that it sounds like a great date night and really just hilarious 🤣🤣 .. now I want to be a tiger...

I used to think that way. But I disagree. From the first moment, from the first date you've got to give her off a good first impression. Which means to have an arsenal of plans ready to deploy even before the whole thing starts.
Rule number one, "get a girlfriend". Did all mentioned in this video before youtube came about. My message; you do what's in this video your going to have memories that will bring about smiles, laughs, warm feelings that'll last a lifetime, and maybe a wife or two, hopefully just one special gal.

We ALWAYS love all of your date ideas and it was great to see them again and some of the ones we have missed previously. We have tried a couple of them and cant wait to still try out more. They are so much fun and we recommend that all couples should try them out , as they are so unique and different from the norm. ONE LOVE

Love all these ideas!! Going to make our way through them all, but top of our list have to be Chopped Challenge and Hot Air Balloon!! Those sound so amazing!
Yeah! You guys should totally do the chopped one. The nice thing about it is that you don't even have to spend money, you can just use whatever crazy ingredients you have on hand! And we couldn't recommend a hot air balloon ride enough, so calm and peaceful - yet just crazy to be floating hundreds of feet off the ground!
@@RuthandThomas So true about chopped--that's what adds those hard elements! And we definitely want to look into hot air balloons around us, but will definitely have to wait for the spring/summer as Iowa winter is brutal still right now hahah we are just finishing up our blizzard warning hahah
@@CawiezellCrew 😳😳I cannot imagine what it would be like to go ballooning in a blizzard, I'd probably just throw my hands up and surrender to the elements hahaha - and wow! Kinda jealous.. we haven't had any substantial snow all year...

These are some really great ideas guys! My favorite was 'Chopped'! For sure going to try this out. The outdoor movie one sounds fun, haha at least you don't have to deal with as many bugs as in the summer.

Yes!! You should totally try Chopped! We've done that date 4 times now and we're always surprised at the delicious and weird dishes that come out of it. And really good point about the bugs... Should have included that in the video! Our backyard is a mosquito haven in the summer, so no bugs is a BIG plus. Thank you guys for watching and commenting!!

Most of them are relatively cheap and easy to do, but I (Thomas) cannot recommend going on a hot air balloon ride enough - it was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Thank you! Yeah, we had fun with the normal Netflix and dinner date but found that it wasn’t as fun or interesting as trying out new things together. Adventure is out there and it’s exciting to discover it with a partner! 😁😁

Hahaha yeah... Ruth might have fallen back asleep as soon as we got back home - can't mess up that body clock! 😆 And you should really do it some time if you ever get the chance - we thought it would be fun and interesting, but we had no idea just how cool it would really be. We started lifting off the ground and didn't even notice, and honestly - if we had kept our eyes closed the whole time we might not have even noticed that we were in the air. It was so smooth and peaceful; truly a remarkable experience!

We've done beach picnics with our little boys, usually at sunset, not sunrise, but it might be fun to try early morning picnic sometime. Painting date night, we've done that one at home, but we should do it again! The acrobatic yoga thing...would be very much a fail for me, haha!
Haha yeah we had a pretty rough time with the couples yoga thing.. but yes you should try to go out and see the sunrise sometime! We had never made a breakfast picnic before, but it was so fun to be able to watch the sunrise and have breakfast all prepared for us on the hill. Truly one of the best ways to welcome the morning (tho it may be harder to coordinate with a handful of kids) 😊Do you guys have a place that you like to watch the sunrise??

You guys totally should!! It was such a bizarre experience because it was so smooth and quiet. Because you are floating along with the wind currents, there is no wind! It was so bizarre it was like we were just legitimately floating. You guys would love it. Do you know when you'll be able to be together again? And do you guys have a date for when you want to get married??

I always take my dates for a day at the amusement park. I want to make sure they are up for a variety of thrills! Have you two been to Six Flags St. Louis or Great America in Chicago? Or maybe even Holiday World in Indiana?
Ooh, that's a great idea! I used to LOVE amusement parks. Not sure about now that I'm old and get headaches and have bad joints... But... 😅 I (Ruth) have been to Six Flags STL, not sure about Thomas, but have not been to Great America or Holiday World!! Would you recommend?
@@RuthandThomas I've been on over 300 roller coasters in 25 states and Canada. Six Flags Great America is a fun larger park with some smooth steel coasters, but it can get crowded.
Holiday World has a great atmosphere and is actually known for its award wining waterpark along with its wood coasters, which can be a little rough. It doesn't have quite as large crowds.
One I haven't been to yet, but is on the shortlist is Silver Dollar City in Branson MO. A good variety of coasters "with down-home charm" This should fall between the other two in park size and crowds.

Hot air balloon ...it's like 1,000 dollars... it made me wanna cry because I dream about it all the time and it literally is on my bucket list. But yeah I do love this video.
It's definitely a pricey excursion!! Something you'd probably have to save up for. But, if you can find a group balloon ride they're often a lot cheaper. And maybe if you go in the off season too? Anyway, we're so glad you liked our video! Thanks for watching & commenting!!

Where did you get those chairs for picnic date?
We actually got them from my sister! She had them when she was in college and was getting rid of them - so we decided to take them off her hands. We've used them so much because they're so comfy and portable! We found some similar ones on Amazon, butI think she originally got hers from Walmart and the brand is "Big Joe"

I don't know why but my first thought for "paint your partner" was literally getting a paintbrush and covering them in paint... I don't know why that was what I assumed you were about to say 😂 He would probably be more likely to go for your version of paint your partner.
Now there's an idea!! Haha that's actually something we considered after we saw them do it a couples times on The Bachelor.. but then we thought it might be too intimate or romantic of a date to make a video about lol. Something about painting another person and rolling around on a canvas just doesn't seem family friendly... 😂

We did a draw ur partner in art class and so that it wasn’t bad we made it abstract by putting a plate around the pencil so u couldn’t see what u were drawing on ur paper and all u could look at was ur partner

Hmmmm sunrise picnic. Not sure thats a good idea here lol not even allowed to meet for a coffee without a fine due to lockdown. Being serious though great ideas 💡 👌 👍 we had 4 staycations in 2020.
Woah, you guys are in serious lockdown! Where are y'all from in the UK? I will say, coffee shops are probably the thing I miss MOST since lockdown started. Well that, and travel!! How cool that you were able to do 4 staycations! Did you stay at an airbnb or a hotel?
@@RuthandThomas well Ruth it was a real mixup aof staycations. We mainly stayed in mobile homes during the year. We were due to go to France in August but at the very last minute 10pm we were due to leave at 4am the goverment banned travel. So we had everything cancelled. That very next day we drove to Scotland. First we stayed in a hotel then more mobile homes. We live in Nottinghamshire England :) we visited East Coast, Devon, Scotland, and a weekend in Cumbria. This year will be Cornwall, Lincolnshire, France, Norfolk, Devon! No further im afraid. Yes our lockdoqn is very strict right now.

I'm always jealous of you Europeans and your ability to country hop. And you have airlines like Ryan Air that are super cheap!!

Hi guys! I love some of these ideas, my boyfriend is blind and I’ve been looking for romantic things we can do together that aren’t very loud or visual. Let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks for these ones.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching our video. Some low-key things we've done that I can think of off the top of my head have been trivia nights or doing those Buzzfeed quizzes together, taste-testing the same food item from different fast-food restaurants and ranking them, recreating some of our favorite things to do as children, or surprising each other with a spa night - whoever comes home from work first draws a bath, lights some candles, plays quiet music, gets out the essential oils, gets out partner's favorite snacks.
Hope some of these help, but we'll let you know if we think of more!
Oh! And one of our favorite ideas we've done a few times is picking a completely random country and we "travel to it for the evening". That means we research a little about the country, learn some key phrases in their national language, make a meal inspired by foods they eat, and listen to music from the region! It's really fun and you end up learning a lot!
You aren’t kidding about the last idea being grand.. closest one to me is $600-800 for 2 😳
😬 Yeah, it's definitely one of the most grand experiences we've ever done. We don't like to really get each other gifts, but instead like to use our money for the occasional really awesome experience we can do together. That's a good question! We actually started off our relationship as a long-distance couple and had to get pretty creative with dating. We would write letters and send drawings in the mail - snail-mail style. We also would get dressed up all fancy for Skype calls and I know some people that start a video call and then try to cook the same meal together - or watch the same movie. And if you're meeting your online boyfriend in person for the first time, we are always big fans of getting coffee or doing something low-key like going for a walk / playing a board game / going to a festival so you have time to get to know each other. It's such a good show! I love how it seems like every character is going to be a stereotype and kinda 2 dimensional - but as it goes on the characters become really endearing and experience their own growth. It's so fun - It might be time to watch it all the way through again 😆
Publish fatality rate for hot air rides
From the year 2000 to 2016, there were 21 fatalities from hot air balloon crashes and accidents. Hot air balloons account for the least amount of deaths in a major flying machine every year!
@@RuthandThomas thanks Ruth. What needs to be done is to divide that number by the total number of passengers. And compare that to driving or flying just saying there's 21 deaths over those years is not as helpful

Must have about $1000 for a private Hot Air Balloon ride...make sure she's worth it.
Hahaha while she is definitely worth it.. it can be an expensive experience if you want it to be. We never thought we would be able to do something like this and were absolutely amazed when we got the opportunity - IT WAS SPECTACULAR. And actually, the company we went through - Bloomington Balloon Rides - offers rates as low as $125 - $225 and their private Hot Air Balloon flight is only $700!

Knowing that it can be hard to do other things beyond pizza and a movie for date night, we set out to create and try unique date ideas that would challenge us and build our relationship. Actually, according to the FAA hot air ballooning is the safest form of air travel! And certainly safer than driving a car. But of course, if you're not comfortable with it, then don't do it.
