      Gravity fed carbs on the old XR's... are so much nicer for maintenance

    Why should you replace the fuel pump or fuel pump assembly if there is more than a 1 mm gap between the tabs and hooks? I just replaced my filter on my 2016 crf250r and the tabs and hooks were holding firmly just fine however the gap between them was more than 4 thousands of an inch .004 . or 1 mm. Should I take it back out and replace the whole thing because of this? PLEASE HELP

    After replacing the filter is there any sort of priming that needs to be done? I just replaced my fuel filter and am having some trouble getting my bike going again. There is fuel running through the line and everything seems to be connected but it doesn’t even try to turn over when i kick it, any suggestions?

      @rmatvmc  5 років тому

      It might take a bit to start but it should prime itself after a few times of trying to turn over. Just make sure all your connections (fuel fittings, battery terminals, fuel filter wires) are all connected properly.

    I have a 2019 crf450x and it has been getting harder and harder to start could this be the issue?

      Depending on the hours on the bike, I’d suggest checking valve clearances. Incorrect clearances can cause hard starting

    Old video but i hope i can get some help anyway. So im about to remove the fuel tank and was wondering if i can skip the step where u start it and let run until it stals? Because it has not been running for several years so the oil and filters is not the best atm hehe. Is the step just so you dont get fuel everywhere? ^^

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  21 день тому

      You don't have to; it helps from spilling the fuel when removing the parts. Emptying the fuel system.

      Big scrap heap out back. A loader onto a flabed to a yard where metals are seperated and crushed and shipped back to asia to build 2020 models from (lead time in processing)

    Wish I would have known this before buying a CRF.. these kits (OEM) are £105 UK. Every 30 rides!! Wow

      Why not super filter the FUEL before it even gets to that filter? THEN how many rides? 100?

      Nobody does this unless they’re making money riding their bikes.

    Video might be old but hopefully someone can help me out. I got a 2008 crf450, at low rpms it bogs out, needs the throttle cracked to start, runs rough up until its past 1/4 throttle but when Im in high rpms everything seems fine. After doing some research I found that it should probably be the fuel pump filter just like in this video. The problem is I cant find the filter in the manual nor fuel tank diagram. So my question is does it have the same filter, is it a different one or doesn’t it have filter. In case my bike does not have a filter what could the problem be? Perhaps something with the carburetor?

      @rmatvmc  7 днів тому

      The 08 models did not have a fuel pump, they were gravity fed into the carburetor. You can get a fuel filter for your model. They are little cone shape fuel filters. You might have a clog somewhere in your carburetor. Pulling it out and cleaning it could solve the problem. If that doesn't help, new jetting kit would be where I would start.

    Can someone tell me if a dirty filter can cause the engine to stall while riding please??

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 роки тому

      Yes, a dirty air filter could potentially cause your bike to stall.

    Anyone know why fuel would continue to come out when the line is taken off? Just replaced the pump and filter and can’t seem to find the problem.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 років тому

      *Jaxon Slocum* So, the fuel is coming out of the fuel pump? Did you follow all of our steps in this video? Are you disconnecting the fuel feed hose from the pump? This should stop the gas from coming out once disconnected.

    TOTAL turn off! Makes me say SCREW IT! I want something Ican ride not stress out with ridiculous assemblies ...I am so sick of modern engineering...CRAP CRAP CRAP! You just wont convince me that stuff needs to be this elaborate stupid for things needing service so frequently ...RIDICULOUS!!

      BTW service intervals for racing bikes have always been over the top. But you know what? Some kid living out in the dessert who's dad buys him a race bike to play on? Chances are he wont even read those intervals much less pay attention to them...I have seen ridiculously thrashed Japanese MXers that just keep going and going and going without all the required maintenance ...I even bought a used one from such riders multiple times ...you dont want to do that is my experience but I'm just saying there is keeping a machine "in spec" maximum competitive status...and then there is just riding the piss out of one until it's not fun anymore for whatever item is slowing things down LOL ...two different worlds man!
