there was a washer under the retainer plate of the old basket. as I understood and Read on given manual, I didn't put it back under the new one . plus, it didn't fit. but you have to keep the one for the kickstarter gear
The rubber bushings and backplate are available new from KTM. The basket is available new in pieces too but the complete unit is only £50 more (less than buying new rubbers and rivets)
Hey, can you peen the top of the bolts around the heads instead of the bottom? I feel like this would make it easier to remove the primary gear if you ever needed to change the basket again. Thanks!
Is the two gears always together like that because on my stock basket it seems to be that the gears are separate will the Hinson one come with the gear already installed on it?
Most of these aftermarket clutches have Teflon impregnated into the steel for smoother operation. Can't talk about what came 2000s and up tho on OEM...
Probably the same as new stock. The issue would be wear of the fingers and grooves over time so a new basket would be good as new. Also Teflon adds a smoother feel.
*Joshua G* Have you inspected your pressure plate and double checked that it is mating properly with the clutch hub? Hinson does not indicate that you need a specific clutch cover with their clutch basket. I would have you refer to your service manual and follow the install procedure, see if that does the trick? Let us know what you find out! Thanks
i bought the bike with it in it and when i was pulling the motor apart i realized that the clutch bolts were hitting the cover and no allowing it to close right. i will go check it now, thanks
*Joshua G* Ok. Yea, maybe disassemble it and refer to either your service manual or our OEM Parts Schematic on our website for reassembly. Thanks www.rockymountainatvmc.com/oem-parts/Kawasaki
Contact cleaner is just a spray you can get at the hardware store on the electrical isle. It's also good for prepping plastic before installing decals. I think it kind of etches the plastic and removes the gloss for better adheing. A torque wrench is a torque wrench, just use inch pounds not foot pounds!
If i carefully remove the plate by drilling it instead of grinding can i re use the plate? My plate was missing on a good deal online for 50$

Great video! Why do you have to hit with a punch the bolts? To make sure they cannot come lose?
Yes
You want to mushroom the back side of the bolt so the threads can't back out and jack up your motor

Is the two gears always together like that because on my stock basket it seems to be that the gears are separate will the Hinson one come with the gear already installed on it?

Are the clutch basket fingers a better fit against the plates compared to OEM?

What loctite do I need
Red loctite #272
Permanent red
$260 for a Hinson clutch basket, and it doesn't even include the primary gear?! That's messed up.
That's all of the aftermarket clutch manufacturers... Hinson, wiseco, talon, etc.
Don't use WD-40 on rubber it's a solvent I thought everybody knew that

Dustin, how stupid is that? Pay 1200 for a clutch and you want us to grind it
Cause Henson can’t sell a finished protuct
If you paid $1200 for a busted clutch assembly you got ripped off. Even my rare wr 500 isn't that much yet for the gears.
