Alpe d'Huez's WILD neighbour: The Col du Sabot

- This is one of the lesser known climbs near Alpe d'Huez. The Col du Sabot is a challenging 14.8km climb through Vaujany averaging 8.6%!
There isn't much cover near the top, so in the hot sun it was sweaty work! After Vaujany the climb becomes a lot more rural and remote, with only the cows to keep you company!
We finally reached the top, where the road just ends. At 2103m high, it offers some fantastic views looking down onto the road to the Croix de Fer/Glandon on one side, and back to the climb we just conquered on the other.
Here is a link to the Strava segment for the climb - / strava
Jenny, that was absolute superb!
I feel quite honoured that the recommendation made such an impact. Brought back many happy memories. Cheers. Dave (Directeur Sportif)💪👍
Thank you. See you out there sometime soon I hope 😊
That looks great 👍
Really is beautiful 😍
Beautiful video Jenny 👍
Thank you. It’s such an incredible climb. Absolutely beautiful 😍
@@jennycycles I'd not heard of it tbh but it sure does look lovely.
It’s another secret wee climb but one of my favourites. Challenging but so worth it!!
@@jennycycles I'll soon be in France but on my fully loaded touring bike, and north of there but it looks like a climb for my road bike on another trip.
I have not done this one. Very much on my "to do" list next time i am there. Trouble is so much to ride - Did the Pyrenees this year and they are simply amazing! I will have to go back there again. My next Alps trip is to BSM for climbs like Petit Bernard and La Plagne.
I’m in the same boat. So much choices!!! Just stunning places to discover. Makes it so hard to choose.
@@jennycycles - certainly does. Pyrenees are amazing. Less imposing but proper scenic. I can recommend Pyrenees Cycling Lodge as accommodation if you want to explore that area.
