The bear would have had me quite emotional too! I’m glad you packed up and left as fast as you did. We know it’s their home but it’s not often we wake up to the destruction of a bears visit to our site. The mushroom sightings were so good. Take care and be safe.

This was the first time I’ve had a bear cause damage in my camp. I am usually so careful! I used to backpack a lot so I knew better. Yikes! Just goes to show you how extremely scent sensitive we need to be when camping. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Stay safe! 😊

FYI - If you are my camping neighbor, I won't get mad at you if you lay on your horn because you think a bear is in your camp.

I figured Kipper’s barking would have scared it away! Eeek. I will definitely blow the horn next time! Thanks for watching!

Amazing u were not aware of bear attractions. Scent ...on cooking utensils is enough to attract them... now do a bear awareness video to educate without the emotion. U are in their world. As amazed as u are a bear tore your stuff apart, I am as amazed u are so shocked it happened considering u post being from Sayward. Signs every on Vancouver Island about bears especially this time of year. Goggle videos of bears breaking into cars in past month in BC

This was a case of human stupidity, nothing else. I knew better. I have backpacked and camped since I was 5years old. I got lazy. I had been leaving out my coffee and tea (as well as fire extinguisher) on my table and never had a problem with a bear being attracted to these items. Even though they have a scent. I know toothpaste, soap, gum, anything with a scent can attract bears. The one time I leave a small amount of my dogs food (stuck it in my bin after she was finished eating because mice love her dog food but had planned to put in car later, but forgot) in that bin and this is what happened. I will take your advice about the educating without emotion. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
