    Great video, thank you! I love the Flextail Tiny pump - never seen it before. I watched this last Friday, ordered the pump from Amazon (via your link, of course) and it arrived on Saturday, just in time to be charged up and used to "encourage" the BBQ charcoal, which it did really well. I reckon I could have melted the grill bars with it given a bit longer. And then as a bonus (ie: what I actually bought it for) I tested it as a pump on my Alpkit Cloudbase mat and it worked fine. The lamp is pretty good too, once you've worked out how to turn it on. Maybe I should have read the instructions?
    I'm sure I saw a YT comment from you somewhere a while back when you said you didn't understand the hype about the X-Mid "I'm not feeling it..." or something like that! Glad you decided to give it a try anyway. I've just used mine for the first time and I was really pleased with it, plenty of room for one person plus the two huge vestibules. My main concern was how it would behave in a wind but it was fine, despite some strong gusts coming off Ben Lui (I thought I'd picked a sheltered pitch) but it didn't budge at all, or even flap very much. Light and easy to pitch too.

    I'm considering lightening my load by getting one of those.
    I'm drawn to the Notch for how I *think* it'll shed wind (and perhaps easier squeezing onto tiny pitches), but I fear it'll be like sleeping in a coffin - which finds me leaning towards the X-Mid.

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the coffees mate, I seen the email ping up a short while ago. The Notch is an excellent tent, and for the CWT where I was knackered and just wanted to cook my tea and go to bed, it was fine. But as you noted it is a bit coffin like, the Notch inner groundsheet is wider by 2" at the centre, but as you know it tapers at the head and feet, which I don't like as much and could feel a bit claustrophobic when you're chilling on a summit camp. The vestibule space in the X-Mid is more generous, I felt confident enough to sell the Notch when the X-Mid arrived. X-Mid takes up less room in your pack as it doesn't have the rods at either end. Both as equally easy to pitch.

      @@neilmccartney6573 hi Neil, it can be an expensive hobby. I've worked out roughly £1,600. However rarely anyone starts out with the best gear and build up over time. I tested an Aldi tent for £40 last summer and it done a job. Plus if you're already into hiking, you'll have stuff like waterproofs, hats, gloves etc already.

    Hi Robin. Ever been out on a high camp and had thunder & lightning? I was planning a trip recently but saw there was a chance of lightning in the forecast so bottled it. Seems quite exposed when camping high and surrounded by metal rods. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on your next high camp video. Cheers!

      I was once caught in a thunderstorm heading up Ben Lui, never got off a hillside so quickly. Touch wood haven't been caught out camping in a thunderstorm, you'd be a sitting duck on the summit. I'd drop height down to the bealach where you'd be a bit safer. Would rather be in a bothy. 😂

      Hi Jennifer, fair question. Zoleo are new to the European market so invited me and a few others to try out their product with no obligation to review it.
