    I was completely prepared to dislike you. Even before I clicked play (the bedroom video was the first one I watched) I had formed all of these judgements. You shouldn't have more kids than you can afford, you have to be some crazed super Christian with children who act more like robots etc. Then I watched the video and that all changed. 15 or so videos later and I completely admire you and how you have chosen to raise your family. I am single and I don't have any children yet I still find myself watching your videos about homeschooling, unassisted births etc. and I hope that I am able to incorporate many of these things into my family when the time comes. I hope that your channel continues to grow you have some excellent content.

      Linzee L, One of the most important abilities to have in life is the ability to change your mind. It seems like few people cultivate that, but you are clearly a person who does. I think you will make an amazing mom. Your comment is really a blessing to me!

      I completely agree! After watching several more videos my entire perception has changed. I truly admire how you've made a wonderful, moral upbringing for your children !

      She's pretty awesome right! Her ability to manage her family and guide them while still allowing her children the opportunity to be individuals is remarkable.

    Every video I watch I think, "she thinks just like me", haha. I think you are one step ahead on the organizing though, which is why these are so helpful! i am a pile-er as well, but I like to be organized. I need to find somewhere that I can have a little desk for me !

    I'm a college student and I thought I was organized. You have 8 kids and are more organized than I am for one person.. I am jealous! Maybe you can make a video about it, but how did you pick out names for your kids?

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  8 років тому +3

      All of our kids have Biblical names. Thomas is also named after Tom. Sophia's name is the Greek word for wisdom, so her name is only found in Greek Bibles. It's nice to meet you, Ally!

    I cleared the piles off of my desk because it was desperately needed and you gave me the last push. I recently moved my desk into my bedroom and everything was just piled on top of it. Since I'm starting from scratch, I'm going to implement some of your ideas. I like the idea of temporary and permanent files. I won't be able to file on my wall but instead I have some vertical files and magazine holders that I got on clearance. Now all I have to do, is a rough draft of what I need my desk to do for me. Sort of like when you spoke about going through every room and thinking about it's function. Great ideas!!!

      I use a Brother P-touch label maker. It's PC compatible and plugs into my laptop with a USB cable. I can design labels using any of my fonts and pictures, too. The labels come in different sizes and colors. If you haven't seen my Beard Oil video, toward the end I show my screen while I am designing the label for the bottle and then a little bit of the label maker as it's printing: ua-cam.com/video/3YA5rCXig04/v-deo.html

    Andrea, there are so many great ideas here. I have "stolen" your ideas for filing and for the kids' schoolwork assistance requests. You have made this journey into homeschooling so much easier with your wisdom and wonderful help.
    God Bless,

    I am totally a piler too! I like to call it organized chaos because even though it looks like a crazy, hot mess, I still know where everything is (unless someone messes in my stuff), lol.
    Thanks for sharing your ideas and what works for you. I could see a system like this working for me by still allowing my piles, but making things more tolerable for my husband by reducing the cluttered look.
    Additionally, I wanted to say that I've really been enjoying your playlist series showing how you make a smaller home work for your larger family. It gives me confidence that my family of 6 will be able to make a ~1700sqft space work for our home office/homeschool/living needs, when we move in the near future. We will be losing about 800sqft of storage space compared to our current home so we are definitely going through a bit of a "stuff" purge. It really is freeing to get rid of the "things" that aren't important to make room for the people, who are, to live.

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  8 років тому +4

      You really start to realize how much of the stuff you own just sits there. In a closet full of clothes, we tend to wear a few favorites and everything else just hangs there. Getting rid of it all means you're not losing the things you need and love, you're getting things that just take up space out of the way!

    I need to do something like this. Since I am visual (out of sight, out of mind also) I have not been able to find a good system that works for my brain! I am in need of a total redo in my office.

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog

      I am convinced that the reason we pile is simply that: if we put things away and can't see them, we forget about them and we procrastinate on making decisions about what to do with things. I've attempted to overcome that; I still don't keep a "perfect" desk, but I feel like its much more under control. I'm hoping that over time, re-labeling my file bins by how soon I want to get things done will be another step in keeping order.

      I use a Brother P-touch label maker. This one is similar to the one I have (mine is an older model now) www.amazon.com/Brother-PC-Connectable-Label-Maker-PT-1230PC/dp/B001IKKIVM/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1472579500&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=p+touch+label+maker+pc+connectible It uses cassette tape-like cartridges that you can get in different sizes and colors. I use mine all the time and highly recommend it!

    What kind of label maker do you have? I love it. Is it the same one you use for white writing on a clear label?
