  • Today I'm showing you inside my file cabinets. We store curriculum, business records, family records, school records and supplies in these file cabinets. I had to organize the cabinets recently to accommodate more curriculum, so I bought a rolling file cart to add more storage space.

    I watched 2 of Andrea's office videos today in honor of her birthday. It's the first time I could watch her videos since she died. I miss her so much.
    I don't know how many people realize it, but she was the most *genuinely good* human being that I've ever known. She loved and consciously valued every moment - literally every moment - of her life.
    It's funny that it makes no difference at all that I'm not religious, and she took her religion very seriously: that has nothing to do with anything, because I know she respected everyone's right to their own beliefs. She never preached; she appreciated that we each have a mind of our own. And she loved her husband and her kids.
    People who value Andrea know that she was unique among many millions; yet she was living proof of what every human being has the potential to be. Maybe someday there will be more people like Andrea. She showed that it's possible.

      I truly enjoyed reading your comment. That’s the most important thing in life, to pay attention and think about every tiny moment. We would call it “living life on purpose.” She was an incredible woman.

    I’m new to homeschooling. I wish we still had Andrea. She was so helpful and I have so many questions. I bought this curriculum because I loved her videos about her teaching methods. Andrea you will forever be missed!

      If you have questions just ask! I was administrator of an ACE school and took their training. We still use it now! ;)

    I would love to see how you keep permanent record of grades for your kids. Thanks for showing what you have done. Those marks add character 😉

    Fun fact: I work in education, in curriculum, and to this day, several decades after finishing high school, everything I do that's related to math curriculum is color coded yellow, all English/Language Arts is red, Social Studies is green, Science is blue, and non-core subjects are all the other colors. It just doesn't feel right any other way! :-)

    I have learned more about the cool things available to help a person keep their office stuff organized by watching your videos. I had never thought of using colored folders to help keep things organized. Some of the things I see you use, I had no idea even existed before. Thanks so much!

    You are the most organized person I know. Which helps a lot when you have 8 + children. Good job Andrea!

    This was inspiring! I'm in the middle of purging 2 4-drawer, deep file cabinets of 40+ years of stuff and trying to set up a system that I can actually use. No more piles! It will feel so good when it's done!!

    That does it! I am finding at least one file cabinet! I have tons of paper and labels, tags, etc, all in piles that move around every time I try to access anything. Love the way you have it all organized by filing!

    I love seeing how to organize your family's paperwork. Ours is a mess! LOL! The one thing I do have down is our homeschool paperwork. I like how you have all your A.C.E. things. I only have one child (my daughter) using it right now but plan to have her brother start next school year. We only order 2 quarters at a time because that's the most our file crate can hold as we use all 7 subjects. I think I'll look into your system as our children get older and I have all 3 using ACE. Thanks for sharing. I love gleaning ideas from you. :)

    I wish i was half as organized as you! To a pretty chaotic person like i am this is really impressing! Trying hard to improve though! You could really make a career, helping people to organize their homes! But i guess you really don't need any more work in your busy life😘😉!

      The one I have is an older model and it's now listed on Amazon for $209. (!) This one is very similar to mine; the only difference is you have to push a button to cut the label and mine has an automatic cutter. www.amazon.com/Brother-P-touch-PC-Connectable-Label-PT-1230PC/dp/B001IKKIVM/

    I learned some good ideas for storing paper thanks! I'm curious what you do with your children's art work. I currently have a drawer dedicated to all there drawings and masterpieces 😊. I can't throw them out!!!

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  6 років тому +3

      If it's something we really want to keep, it goes in the scrapbook file. I get them used to throwing things out early on, though. We usually have a place to hang things up and then when we make something new we throw the old thing away.

    Andrea, is there a reason that you cannot keep the children's school records scanned on a computer storage drive and free up physical space? On another topic how are you feeling? So excited for your new addition!

    Hi sorry to bother on a different subject, I've just harvested my Dill seeds ,lots of them, but I'm not sure what to do next. They are dry but should I dehydrate them? And second what can I use them for? This plant has blown over from our neighbours house and I don't want to waste it so I harvest all the seeds .i use the leaves in my dill pickles. I don't know what to do with the seeds.thank you so much love Poppy XXX

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  6 років тому

      If they're dry, you can put them in a jar to use in recipes or to plant again next year. Don't dehydrate; they're fine as is.
