    "you are not a procrastinator... you have the habit to procrastinate ... " this sentence was slap to my face made me leave the bed immediately to make a drawing exercice that i procrastinated all day long to make ....

    yes!!! take action now, stop waiting to feel motivated, stop waiting to be "perfect", just start!!! you'll get better and better.... and.... better!!!!

    Actually procrastinating stresses me out even more because I'm not doing what I need to get done.

      You are diciplined. And you are comfortable with being uncomfortable. I commend you on it. Its a create thing

    • @b1_ferg
      @b1_ferg 4 роки тому

      What's funny is that the act of procrastinating is, in fact, stress relieving, but the stacking of such procrastination inevitably lends itself to more stress, as you say, due to the fact that you are often compounding the effort needed to complete the task, whereas it could have been a much less stressful thing by just taking that first step.
      She is certainly right in that it is a habit and one that you can and must break. I still struggle with it to this day, but the areas of my life which are affected by my procrastination are dwindling. I am chipping away at the habit.
      Lists. To-do lists have become my very best friend on this regard. The endorphins from crossing things off the list is what keep me going.

    • @alexschwarz4749
      @alexschwarz4749 4 роки тому +2

      @@b1_ferg What also helped me a lot, as to-do lists often get too cluttered in my case, .... taking a sheet of paper, writing down the time when i start working on one thing, and writing down when i stop(start a break). Then writing down again when i continue ..... even if it's just in 15min (or even less!) steps ..... looking at the growing list of starts and stops, reaffirms me that i ACTUALLY can get stuff done! Instead of beating myself up for not doing anything. Once i really get into it, it also really encourages me to "add another timeblock" to my list of todays achievements.
      It's not yet perfect, but it totally helped me tackle the uncomfortableness that procrastination caused in me, and also helped me get started easier.

    "The mistakes are where all the learning is." Such a valuable lesson and not taught in school. In fact, it's the opposite.

      Although Jim Rohn said it’s better to learn from other people’s mistakes, life is too short to keep spinning your own wheels.

      Why wasn't it teached in your school ? Un our poor post USSR country we were told to make mistakes while learning. In school. Any student could use this philosofy everywere in a live.

    • @LedgerAndLace
      @LedgerAndLace 4 роки тому

      @@SmeWnulya It's not an easy answer. Mistakes are looked on as failure. Add in punishment, public humiliation, and embarrassment and you learn very quickly that it's not OK to make mistakes. It's more important to score higher on tests with the right answers. Students, teachers, and schools are judged based on their test scores. Real learning understands that mistakes are a part of learning, not "wrong." Rote memorization is valued over critical thinking or curiosity, and obedience is valued over creativity. Politicians, who have no background in education, child development, or neuroscience, make policies based on measurement and performance. They have made what's measurable important instead of what's important, measurable. It's a broken system, and even those who are graduated from high school have spent their lives doing paperwork.

    • @LedgerAndLace
      @LedgerAndLace 4 роки тому

      @@georgehristov8874 I think the point is that schools don't allow that mistakes are a part of learning, not a failure. Now if you keep doing the same thing over and getting the same result, as Jim would say, then change your approach.

      My partner is constantly trying to unteach those who are afraid to make mistakes in college. I think it stems from perfectionism more than what any teacher is teaching. There seems to be a lot of pressure on the younger generation to be perfectionist. They are afraid to fail. He encourages them to fail and just try. I taught sewing and honestly the more you do it the better you get! That’s how I became a professional! Just keep doing it.

    This is the first time I hear the waiting disease. I laughed a lot. It's so true, sad and funny at the same time. Why on earth have I allowed diseases in myself?
    I heard about you Mel in September I believe, last year. I just wanted to thank and congratulate you for sharing your knowledge to the world. It's helped me so much and deeply to unlock the keys to my own success, and for that Mel, I'm forever grateful.

    ✨Yes! You could not be more correct. In my life, I have struggled with all three at different times. I finally was able to give up perfectionism, which changed my life completely. It’s so important that we look at our mindset and mental habits and really be aware of the things that are secretly holding us back. Thanks for being amazing, Mel! It’s incredible how much we can change our lives when we have true self-awareness. ♥️

    My reasons for procrastination are strange, at least I have not heard anyone else having this problem. My procrastination is something like ''delaying a pleasure''. Instead of doing what I should (writing, drawing), I revel in the idea that it's waiting for me later. Like there is something fun on my schedule and I proceed doing anything else, enjoying that feeling.
