Oh Dave forgot to tell you her other nickname is the new queen of Jazz, The guy on the candle is Screamin ray hawkins the original singer (1956) There is a vid of him out there. Summertime is going to kill you but you must be getting the idea by now just about anything you pick to do is going to surprise you. That is AJ, that is what she does. Welcome to the super fan club.
Angelina's heart belongs to JAZZ and her idol Billie Holiday. Angelina said to the American Songwriter last year, “I have to say if it wasn't for the unconditional love that came from Billie Holiday’s legendary music, there would not be Angelina Jordan today. I am very blessed today that her music found me very early, " ✌️😎✌️💯 *AJ* 💯👣
What’s really interesting for me is where she says Billie’s music found her..that’s a fascinating use of language..it’s almost the personification of music itself..
Angelina singing I Put a Spell on You is exactly what she has done to all of us what a beautiful voice she has I have listened to over a hundred reactions to this video I never get tired of it watching people's minds getting blown by her singing. She has captured all of us. Her voice is a gift to all of us.

Great reactions. I am in the rabbit hole of Angelina jordan for 2 years now n still going strong and still listening to her songs everyday to lift up my daily strength n take away the stressfulness of life. See you soon
Well, well, well, what is it you said Dave "im busy on weekends with other stuff we will get to Angelina on Monday" You are done brother enjoy the ride it is epic.....
That face you were making through this whole thing... I do believe that is the exact face she was trying to invoke with this. You said your music background is jazz... I can predict Angelina is going to be a favorite artist for you for many years to come. She has jazz in her bones, and it shows through in everything she does. Even when she does a techno/edm song (Above the Water), you can still hear that jazz coming through. I have watched many thousands of Angelina reactions, and I don't always sub to the channels.... I am now subbed to yours. I am really looking forward to following your journey through Angelina's journey. I can tell that you really "get it" with Angelina.
Yes, Dave appreciates jazz. I just subbed him on hearing him for the first time. I believe that I was saying for a long time that jazz is her first musical language, and it infuses itself into her covers of other music genres. When I was a kid you would see those jazz greats (like Ella Fitzgerald) covering pop songs and show tones on variety tv shows in the 50s, and 60s. I always enjoyed that.
Ok Dave...how about Angelina doing a cover of Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind." Oh boy, hang on to your chair when you hear it. And what about Dinah Washington's "What a Difference a Day Makes" ? I've got so many suggestion I about explode with them! Have a great day Dave and get your vitamin "A".
How did you like the sax player's work in this video? I consider the tenor sax to be the 2nd-best expressionary instrument. The reed allows tonal expressions better than every other instrument except the Human Voice. And in the second instrumental break, where Angelina's powers forward with a band-leading whoa's, she is flat-toning every other instrument...including that pretty darned good sax player - he too is flat-toning it. Letting her vocals power on. I also think that Angelina is probably younger than any instrument used! Just think of that - I'll bet every instrument in this performance is more than 9 years old.
Angelina wrote the last notes and gave to the director just before they started to play. She did her own arrangements already as a toddler, and know exactly how she wants it.
Good one! We know how you feel. Enjoy this journey. We'll be here. Your enthusiasm is contagious. "Fly Me to Moon" is an Angelina standard. React to whichever, but at some point you should watch them all to experience her development from age 8 to 13. Her earlier stuff is more classic jazz. Go back to Norway's Got Talent. She will amaze!
👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ I really enjoy watching a knowledgeable reactor who also has a great passion for music, and who can appreciate the all-around brilliance that is Angelina Jordan. Oh, and if you love jazz, you have hit the jackpot in Angelina. Angelina has a number of different versions of Fly Me to the Moon, all of which are outstanding, but the one I like to recommend is her performance on the TV show The View when she was 8.
Hehehehe laughing my head off and I’ve not even watched your reaction yet )) you clearly understand music and so this will blow your mind I’m guessing 😂 A Capella? “I’m A Fool To Want You”. In front of a panel of judges, pitch perfect and the WHOLE SONG!

I know and have great respect for the reason Angelina does not wear shoes when she sings, but I can't help thinking that she discovered at a very early age that wearing shoes can be particularly uncomfortable, if not downright dangerous, when blowing off your socks!
Hey Dave! So glad I decided to check out your first Angelina reaction, and now found the next 3 - so 4 in a row from you this Saturday morning. I'm here with you for the long run! And with Jazz being your 'thing' - well you found the right artist. Now we'll just sit back and wait for you to get to 'Feeling Good' and all the other Jazz covers she does.
Great reaction! ... so - why do we love jazz? .... 'cause it's more "real" than any other genre. And AJ's just THERE! ... jazz lets you BE the character of a song without seeming false ... AJ just seems to sync with each song she sings ... she beCOMES the character meant to deliver the words - and WE become the intended receivers ... when AJ really HITS it, it's almost an out of body thing where we're there, in THAT moment with her ... freaky!
You’re surprised by hearing what Angelina can do with old school jazz, but I’ve listened to Angelina for about four years, and she still surprises all of us. Last week she released Seventh Heaven,. It a combination of old jazz with pop vibes-and it surprised everyone because Angelina is always pushing the envelope, even though she could so easily fall back on the styles that people love. And like I Put a Spell on You, she brings absolute authenticity to whatever she sings. Close your eyes today and you’re in a 1940’s jazz bar. Open them, and it’s a nine year old. You’re just starting to hear the genres she crushes so cleanly and effortlessly. You know your music, so pick what you like and be amazed. There are several versions of Fly Me to the Moon. Angelina’s debut on American TV was at eight years old singing this. Of course, it’s indescribably good. Your screen showed a later version that’s also crazy good. Two of my favorites that will make your head explode: the Etta James cover of I’d Rather Go Blind, and James Brown’s It’s a Man’s World.
This is one of them ones. Talk about her control already. Many artists throughout time his covered this song, but Angelina is the only one to pick the headrest person to cover because of his particular style of singing/screaming and growling.. AJ more then Soul captured the authenticity of that old school Feel of screaming Jay Hawkins.. to be able to get anywhere near that stylistically at that age is insane.. It almost damaged her voice in the process and she has inherited a slight strain/ break in her voice for her mastery of this song style . What a testament to a legend of the past, from a young prodigy who is already a Legend in my eyes. Angelina Jo also cover another one of his songs and changed some of the words.. Portrait of a Man, to Portrait of a Child.. it’s a jamming session. I told you she will blow you mind.. it took me some time to explain it myself but I can say most of Angelina Jo genius is in her Subtlety in her approach to these songs.
@@stevek5332 ok, if you have attention to detail theres is a ever so slight strain/ break to here Voice, I can hear it in some of her runs/ riffs and when she is conveying a certain emotion in songs.. Also I can hear it when she opens up and Belts at times. It’s a little something left over from the screaming and growling so much with such a young voice box. Don’t get me wrong I love it. This is what I’ve coined, perfect imperfections in her Voice were it adds emotion and corrector to her voice and the songs she sings.. I was making a analytical observation , That’s my basis.. I’m glad I’m not a Vocal coach.. being a vocal coach can sometimes make you develop a ego wear you think you always know best and no one else can have a opinion better or opposed to your own..
@@intuitiveempath8988 ..and so what formal vocal training do you have to make such technical observations? In contrary to your comments, not one vocal coach has noticed what you seem to be seeing. You are quite welcome to your personal opinion(s), but writing them as facts, as you have, in comments is a disservice to the public and Angelina.
@@stevek5332 I used to MC myself sing Roots reggae + Lovers Rock which is Jazz influenced Music and believe it or not, to Dave if your reading, I used to battle.. something you would probably kno about. So my taste in music is diverse. rap, am also a player of the drums, steal drums and Bongo , I’ve performed live up and down the uk and Caribbean and play other Afro traditional instruments.. I also am a song writer and wrote song for my mother. So I really appreciate well written song with emotional substance. ., I also belong to a very Musical family and had music around me all my life but this is beside to point. One don’t need technical training to have a analytical point of viewing things.. also there is things within to art form we call Music that you just can’t teach.. Angelina Jo’s Talent is a prime example of that thing that you Just can’t teach. What she has is innate & intuitive. I now question your motivation, and wondering what your trying to get at?? What’s making you so touchy?? And taking what I’m saying out of context? Are you saying we should not have a point of view.?? On this open platform?. Or is it you just don’t see tha details I’m picking up on so your taking a fence ? Anyone would tell you that any over amount of screaming or growling over time can damage you voice box if you do this to much.. this is common sense and a Actual fact.. lots of great Jazz singers coming from a gospel music background had that strain / break + rasp to there voice as well because of the style of Music they was singing for many years.. Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Billie Holliday, just to name a couple.. I did not say it was a bad thing.. am I wrong in saying this ? I also went on to say I actually like this in her voice because it adds something to the emotion of the songs she sings, this was a compliment, but you did not say nothing about this.. you was more hell bent in trying to have a go at me. But it’s ok, I’m use to it, I can handle it, I’m a big boy 😉
This just might be the best reaction to Angelina’s version of “I put a spell on you” that I’ve seen yet! I look forward to your next Angelina reaction.
I love your reactions to our barefoot princess (here at 9yo)! You are coming face-to-face with the stark reality that Angelina does the ridicoulous on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and saves the impossible for Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday! Great word you came up with for AJ "epicness"!
Wow, what a great reaction Dave! You say you absolutely love Jazz? You have found your home brother! I’m convinced that we will look back on these times and realize that Angelina Jordan was (will have been) solely responsible for the resurgence of jazz’s popularity in the early part of the 21st century. She’s THAT talented. Keep doing what you’re doing - LOVE your reactions. 👍
Love your honest, no pretend reactions brother. Often I cant hold the tears listening to this precious Jazz Princess. I am Mexican and was never into jazz but Angelina converted me. The first time I heard the name Billy Holiday, I thought it was a guy. For me, this little girl has been a cultural education in good music. Looking forward to more of your fine reactions.
A reactor, Ceci said "What she has done, has no name" in the middle of a reaction, just blown away! So we have to come up with a name for this new vocal ability!
What a great reaction! You will love the outdoors "It's a man's world." She did that at 12 years old, with our full military orchestra. Love from Norway. 🇳🇴
Another heartfelt reaction, Dave! If you plans to do "Fly Me to the Moon" next, I highly recommend The View 2014 version. It's in my view the best performance in her early years.
I believe this is your fifth video reacting to the Barefoot Angel; thank you for all your reactions. FYI, Angelina started her music career by watching YT video of her idol legendary Billie Holiday one night when she could not sleep. In order to appreciate this music prodigy, I suggest you watch her 4 performances at Norway Got Talent (NGT) where she sings Gloomy Sunday, I Am a Fool to Want You, Summer Time, and Bang Bang. You should definitely read her bio in Google to understand why she sings barefoot. Starting at age 6, she has become the advocate for the voiceless children of the world who are the victims of poverty. Some Angels (Fans) call her as “Princess of Jazz” or “Queen of Jazz”, I refer to her as “The Barefoot Angel” because I have not seen any PRINCESS, QUEEN, or PRINCE with her level of social consciousness toward humanity without self-interest. Except “Princess” Diana who detested the title of PRINCESS.
I'm down the Angelina rabbit hole too, and I've seen so many people reacting to this song in particular. And let me tell you man, your comments were way better than 90 percent of people out there claiming to be "vocal coaches"... Just saying... Great job man :)
It's about time someone noticed she was reading lyrics while giving that AMAZING performance, and on top of all that, English is her second language... at 9 years old. She is ABSOLUTELY GIFTED. We, the audience are the lucky one's, we get to enjoy the " GIFT ".
Haha, it's hardly a coincedence that you danced on 'All of me' and sang 'Fly me to the moon' at your wedding! You will be surprised again! She had done a couple of recordings of the latter song. It will be hard to choose. She was asked by Quincy Jones to sing it at his 85th(?) birthday concert. Nice to see the rehearsal. But even when she was 8 she sang it already so impressive (see the performance in The View 2014)
Yes Sir, Angelina is pure singing magic, love your reactions, you have stumbled on to the one if not the best emotional artistic singer on planet earth period!! looking forward to your next one, we experience through you our first time with Angelina's magic,
Love it Love it Love it.....Watch "I'm a Fool to Want You" her audition at 7 into Norway Got Talent....She sang it A Capella...... plus at 13 on American Got Talent champions she started the song Bohemian Rhapsody a Capella
Dave, just another fantastic reaction to our Angel prodigy. 9 years old here, can you imagine that? So glad to be subbed to your channel with your wonderful reactions to this young lady. You are a breadth of fresh air for all the hundreds of Angelina reactors. Can't wait to see more from you Dave. This one here is what hooked me a few years ago and there is no looking back.
I love watching the joy you are getting from this remarkable young prodigy- and your reaction - enjoy this wonderful adventure. This young lady has helped me get through the pandemic- ps I am 77 and so glad she will be in the remainder of my life
Great reaction and analysis Dave! I went down this rabbit hole with other Angelina's angels last year and have been on this wonderful ride since. The Barefoot Princess of Jazz will take over the world! Love her!
When you react to "Fly Me to the Moon", there are many versions. One of the best is the one from The View in 2014 when she was 8 years old. Another variation is when Quincy Jones invited her to sing for his 85th birthday concert in London with a full Orchestra backing her. Either with a Orchestra or acoustical guitar, she's amazing. She started off with jazz at around 3 years old. She did covers of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Dinah Washington. Who ever heard of a 7 year old girl singing jazz as good as the original artist? Answer : No one.
I've been listening to this performance for a year and a half and, over that time, many other thoughts occur to me. One - how did the financing for this happen? She'd become famous in hometown Norway at age 8. Now, this was filmed when she was Age 9 + two months. So, somewhere between TV Fame Age 8 and 8-10 months later, interest in her is SO HIGH that financiers say, "OK, here's a studio. Here's a professional director and crew. Professional musicians." And someone else says, "What's she gonna sing?" She had to have THIS SONG tucked away in her arsenal, and probably demo'd this plus ?? how many others ?? 3? 5? At least. Because the financiers want to make sure they get a jaw-dropping recording for their money. Just imagine how long it took to gather those resources? The band. Then having them hear AJ - which was probably jaw-dropping for them, too. Then studio rehearsals. Filming rehearsings. This could easily have been a 6-month project, from financing to talent-gathering to production.
I have my own thoughts on this. I suspect that after winning NGT, she gave away much of the winnings (about $80,000 U.S.), but kept some to finance just this. She continued to hire bands for a while until the money ran out. Then she started to perform in her home studio with guitar accompaniment. I also suspect that she was paid for some of her gigs, and even the non-profits.
That's completely reasonable. The PUT A SPELL video had to be fairly expensive, and I imagine there were contributing funds from ?? somewhere. The point is, this took FAITH not in her abilities, but in her future. Throwing away $50k or $100k once in a family's life is one thing... but before Republic Records, AJ's bills were probably beyond "one shot deals". It's rather amazing - to me - that there was fiscal support. It's wonderful.
Angelina speaks 3 languages, plays 4 instruments, writes & composes her own music. She recomposed this song as well. Her nic name amongst her band members is " THE BOSS ".
She was 9yrs old when she sang this song. She has written a book, she writes, arrange her own music, speaks four languages as and her jazz influence came from growing up listening to her grandmother records. At 7yrs old, she won Norway Got Talent and now she is 15yrs old and signed with Republic Records. What ever you listen too that Angelina sing, you will be amazed! The good lord sent us an angel!
Such a gift. The instrument of voice, using it like a Yo-Yo Ma plays a cello or Mozart composes, or Einstein equates ... a true outlier and we are all blessed by her sharing this gift with us.
Hi, Angelina was 9 when she did this song. At the beginning of the video, UC shoes off, her changing some of the arrangement on the music sheet, director smiles, grandma wishes her luck, Screamin Jay Hawkins on the candle. Angelina chooses the song she sings. She also changes the musical Arrangements on her songs.
You get it Dave!! Your seeing what the rest of us see in our Barefoot Angel!! I watched three of your reactions and love every single one of them!! Subscribed
P.S. Do you know why Angelina Jordan Performs Barefoot? When Angelina was 6 years old, she met a homeless girl around her age in Iran. (Her grandmother is Iranian artist Mery Zamani.) The girl did not have any shoes, and Angelina says her feet were scarred. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes. According to her website, Angelina then “vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world’s children had them.” She keeps that promise to this day, as she says that little girl “is always in my heart.”
you say un-natural... you mention.. she is reading the lyrics, yet it sounds as if she has sung this song this way 100 times already, or more. How is it explainable? We do have to NOT RULE OUT that maybe she is supernaturally channeling the dead... souls inculcating her body /soul which allow the control from her brain to body physiology, to put out all this sound and do so in this incredible way.. IN EVERYTHING she does, it seems. YOU now face a long long journey in our path.
This, for me, is the best performance I've seen from her. Don't get me wrong, all of the ones I've listened to from her are fantastic; but this is still my favorite one. I've probably watched this video forty or fifty times and that's not counting the reaction videos!! 😅
Some reactors say that Angelina has perfect pitch that's why she is able to sing acapella without going flat or Sharp you can see her do this to the beginning of Bohemian Rhapsody on America's Got Talent simply put Angelina is a modern-day Mozart there's no other explanation
Isn't it amazing enjoy the trip bro but you've got to listen to her singing in the Norwegian talent show when she was 7 years old which she won by the way she sang Billie Holidays gloomy Sunday trust me she'll blow your socks off
The paper the director is holding, is a polite request note she wrote for the last changing of the arrangement - 9 years old. A cappella? Listen to her I am a fool to want you!
Her timing is like if John Lennon, Joni Mitchell and Eartha Kitt had a Zoom meeting on timing then put it into a baby. This girl’s career is gonna be ridiculous if the world can get our collective shit together.
You're officially "in the rabbit hole" now brother, welcome.

Angelina is the gift that keeps giving.
You just realized what AJ is capable of - there is no cure. You are addicted now. She is music.
What source do you have as a basis for this comment regarding damage to her voice? What strain can you identify?
So my taste in music is diverse.
rap, am also a player of the drums, steal drums and Bongo , I’ve performed live up and down the
uk and Caribbean and play other Afro traditional instruments..
But it’s ok, I’m use to it,
I can handle it, I’m a big boy 😉
@@stevek5332 , I agree with you! This guy certainly has a right to his opinions ..... but opinions are often not synonymous with actual facts.
This just might be the best reaction to Angelina’s version of “I put a spell on you” that I’ve seen yet! I look forward to your next Angelina reaction.
Etta James . Billie Holiday . Angelina Jordan. Legends
this is why it is hard not to listen to all her songs
Another heartfelt reaction, Dave! If you plans to do "Fly Me to the Moon" next, I highly recommend The View 2014 version. It's in my view the best performance in her early years.
Ohhhh! When I saw you were reacting to this one I had to see your reaction to this little jem, you didn't disappoint great reaction. 👏👏👍🤘😊🇨🇱
Fly me to the moon on the program the view the best version, jazz all the way!
She is the real thing...
Yep yep. Dave = all of us the first time we saw this.
Dave I introduce you to the new Queen of Jazz and Soul, Angelina Jordan Astar. Enjoy your journey to Angelina's special world with EVERY performance.
Prodigy or what? A new star is born, jazz the new way, Angelina Music
She rewrites and rearanges every song she does. And she controls the band so she knows exactly when each part comes in
It's about time someone noticed she was reading lyrics while giving that AMAZING performance, and on top of all that, English is her second language... at 9 years old. She is ABSOLUTELY GIFTED. We, the audience are the lucky one's, we get to enjoy the " GIFT ".
Thank you for this Dave, she amazes me every time 👍👍. Have a great Angelina journey, youll love it.. 👍💞👍
Angelina Jordan's iTunes or Spotify song collection is like the American Express slogan -- "DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!"
I love watching the joy you are getting from this remarkable young prodigy- and your reaction - enjoy this wonderful adventure. This young lady has helped me get through the pandemic-
ps I am 77 and so glad she will be in the remainder of my life
Just like all of us, you feel her music like Angelina breathes and feels it.
We are all family, a family of angels cheering for her...for more!
132 to go lol your reactions are brilliant and love your excitement each time
I've been listening to this performance for a year and a half and, over that time, many other thoughts occur to me.
She started singing jazz at three, won Norway got talent at 8. Prodigy is an understatement. Also check out Amira
Man's world whith the band .
And .... all the songs that she sings.
I've gotta be here for the party. party on.
So glad to see you do this one! Great reaction and analysis as a lover of jazz you in for the ride of your life!
I'm left speechless... WOW
You can react all her fly me to the moon from younger time to the performance practice to Quincy jones concert which is very Jazzy n beautiful.
DAVE, WOULD YOU PLEASE POST AN 8 HOUR VIDEO OF YOU READING ANYTHING, I like your voice, I think you could keep me asleep.
If you listen carefully she is really telling the world "I'm going to put a spell on you."
great reaction Angelina who you will discover is the best of the best in any era
Angelina Jordan dropped a music video of 7th Heaven this morning. It's awesome! Can you react to it please? Thank You!
Hi Dave - I just LOVE the way you react to Angelina's singing. You make me laugh sooo much. Keep on doing a great job.
I listen to this often, I can't even imagine the boys in the band going home and talking about this little girl. Love your reactions Dave !
With you loving jazz you will appreciate her norway's got talent all songs when she was 7
This is almost better than Screaming Jay's!! Better than any other cover.
******YOUR REACTION WAS PRICELESS, & MADE ME FEEL THE SAME WAY I DID THE 1ST TIME I HEARD THIS******
Awesome Reaction, this is one of my favs of hers and I love that last part aswell!!!
