Hey, healer player here, you correctly pointed out some things about you not pressing your cds enough. Generally as a beginner shaman, I would recommend just pressing one of your cds (link, healing tide totem, ascendance, ancestral guidance) every pull (unless the tank is pulling something super small or there's literally nothing to heal). Then you can slowly start moving things away from certain pulls when you learn what you need and what you don't need. By using cds, you also save mana cuz you won't have to spam as much. And a very minor thing, poison cleansing totem dispels afflicteds, so you can basically just press it and it will deal with both of them. It's important to make sure that riptide never has two charges - it does an insane amount of passive healing, and whenever you press primordial wave your next healing wave will cleave unto everyone with a riptide on them, which does a good amount of group-wide healing. Chain heal is good, but you should never spam it since it costs too much mana. As you mentioned, damage is important, but obviously healing is the most important part and damage is a bonus. Shaman has great passive damage through acid rain (healing rain) and flame shock - you should always try to have these up as much as possible. Then when you have free globals you press lava burst on cd, lightning bolt on single target and chain lightning on 3 or more targets.
Hey, with regards to pressing damaging spells, its absolutely okay to do damage as a healer, main concept is know when you can do damage, for example on that first pull, once the debuff is gone from the stingers, go for damage, maybe help the tank a little, also make sure youre pressing ancestral guidance with your stormkeeper chain lightnings for healing while damaging :)
Great stuff man awesome content. If I could make one suggestion it would be, take what the other peeps were saying into consideration. Riptide healing will save you so much mana. Paired with cloud burst with the acid rain talent for awesome heals and DPS not to mention the mana you will save. Riptide cloudburst and chain heal man for the win
If i see my healer running ahead of me and to the direction of more mobs im assuming that he wants more action and im slow haha 😂 maybe just type 1 sec or mana
On Morchie boss you can slow+CC the adds with earthbind/capacitor totem. Give you a bit of breathing room if you need it.
Cleansing totem destroys that affix
