  • Airline: Lufthansa
    Airplane: Boeing 747-830i
    Registration: D-ABYA
    Flight Number: DLH418
Route: Frankfurt (FRA) - Washington (IAD)
    Date: 16/06/2012
Yet another first for me at this amazing airport - a passenger 747-800! Seen a Cargolux 748F at LAX but this was something else. Departing here from Frankfurt on its daily flight to Washington. Much prefer the design especially of the engines to the 744.

The greatest aircraft I have ever been on, took it twice IAD to FRA, unbelievably quiet

Absolutely agree with you. And this is coming for an Airbus Fan. 747 is far more beautiful than the a380.

Such a beautiful aircraft, much better looking than the 380. Still Queen of The Skies.

The first 747 I ever saw was in 1970 when I was 15. I walked on board one parked at the gate at O'Hare. No security. I went into the cockpit and sat int he pilot's chair for about 15 minutes. The cleaning crew came by and smiled at me. It was a different world.

I remember this big fella; I was there about a week ago lol (FRA-EWR, but on a 744). Saw more 747s and a380s than I'll ever see at my hometown airport.

I saw one of these at Dulles just over a month ago, and I agree that they look a lot better than the 744s. I flew back to LHR on a British Airways 777-200ER, a wonderful aircraft.

Lufthansa leads the way with their fleet.................and the planes are spotless clean inside. American carriers should take note.

Flew that exact route from FRA to Dulles, but on a United 777. Which was honestly much better in my opinion.

Delta doesn't fly the 747-'800'. They fly the 747-400. Besides, it's called the 747-8 not the 747-'800'.

B747-400's aren't going to ever be replaced by B747-8i. The -400's will be flying for a long time ahead. Some do get retired though, but not all.

It almost seems that the 748 is meant for Lufthansa. Its like they just treat them better. Maybe it's the livery.

I am glad that Lufthansa order 20 new generation aircraft of Boeing 747-830i for long haul route, it will be much comfort, quieter than regular plane 747-400 too much noisy engine..

I like that Best safe engine is GEnx2 against bird strike. I hope future that B747 will be full double deck and more GE's powerful thrust engines than GEnx2. ever than A380.

    • @robbae9307

WizardmasterNZ this was meant to be the last 747 :((( also what's worse is it's probably one of the last quad engine jets boeing will make

How come both right wing engines were turning as the plane was being pushed back, and then quit ? On every plane I've flown, the 1st engine is started JUST prior to the tow tractor being disconnected Before that, all power is being provided by a cord from the tractor...

  • @YankeeTango748

I agree. But I like the -400 more than the -8 (the engines are ugly and too quiet)

    • @nigahiga6400
      @nigahiga6400 9 років тому +1

***** That's the APU exhaust. The APU is a small turbine that provides electrical power and powers the air conditioning without needing to start the engines. Most aircraft have a straight APU exhaust at the rear, with the exceptions that I can name off the top of my head being the 777 and the MD-11, both of which have a sideways facing exhaust.

yeah the 380 looks like a fat mosquito (sorry but true). i can't help but liken it to an a320 blown up to double the size with two more engines. the 747 has a confident look to it.
