We should be grateful to Lufthansa and Korean Air for having 747-8. At least, we can still watch and see the Queen of the Skies for another 20 years or so
So cool. Airplanes really are at the peak of many human disciplines. They are marvels of science, engineering (materials, aerospace, industrial), technology, design (they have to look good and be comfortable for people to like flying on them), and even business (getting all the parts to build them and designing airline routes and fares is complex). Not to mention they look and sound amazing.
Most definitely a 747-8. The pylons stick straight forward with no downslope to them. Note that the APU provides enough air to start two engines at a time. The big military start carts can also provide enough air that I once started all four engines on a DC-8-63 simultaneously in Ramstein, Germany. The air pressure from the start cart only dropped from 45 to about 42 PSI with all four JT3D-7 engines turning. Two of these -8 engines use more air than four DC-8 engines did, so that is a really high output APU they have.
Wow I miss this view. I used to work for ACS servicing Korean Air and Omni’s Vacation Hawaii flight and occasional military contractor flight. This was probably the funnest job I had because I was up and close to the planes watching them come and go. I was on the ramp when a Quantas A380 had to make an emergency landing on our reef runway due to a medical issue onboard. At the time we didn’t have any stairs or jetways that could meet up to the doors. Seeing that huge bird up close was something else. A memory I’ll never forget. Thanks for posting this pushback. It brought back so much great memories. One thing I do know is, the 747 is the easiest plane to pushback.
@@greyhamlogan2255 I wouldn't put the A380 in that because the A380 was designed by computers, the computers calculated what would work and what wouldn't, even Airbus admitted that without today's computers and technology they would have an extremely hard time building the A380. The 747 and the Concorde was all designed by people with rulers and pencils, which is extremely hard to do and you need extremely smart people to pull that off.
That sound you are talking about is the compresser/compresser blades all beginning to fully rotate and actually initiate the combustion process happening within the turbine! I learned this when I did my internship with GE at their testing facility and literally said exactly what you commented ahahahahha! Sorry for the useless babble!
I used to do a lot of pushbacks out of Sarasota Florida back in the 90s. Biggest I ever pushed was an l-1011 by ATA. I know what it feels like pushing out a very large aircraft. Sure was a lot of fun.
iM OVER 60 NOW I did my time on these wonderful machines - they will never leave me. No greater engineering feat has ever been achieved. There is nothing more when you have the best.
The first plane I ridden on was a 747, and the first time seeing it up close in person was a 747 Northwest Airlines sitting outside the hangar at MSP, had up close view of the nose and fell immediately in love with airplanes and especially the 747! There is no better machinery that’ll ever beat airplanes, not even cars can’t beat the views of planes.
In 1982 I was at JFK for a big air show. They had 747 on static display with the tow bar attached. The tow bar had its weight clearly listed on the sides in large letters: 6000 Pounds
Thanks for the great video Ryan. Great perspective and view that most passengers won't ever see. I've pushed a few heavy's in my career (DC-10's were the largest) but nothing as big as a 747 (Still Queen of the Skies). Were you driving or on the headset or both?
I was looking at a map with the Flightrader24 app and saw Korean Air B747-8i going to Honolulu airport. So, was it Korean Air when I first turned on this movie? I was thinking like this, but I really like it
those big old high bypass engines are what she should have had from the very beginning. They fit her so much better than those teeny low bypass/turbojets she had originally.
Why is the camera focused on the engines??? It’s far more interesting to see how the tow gets disconnected and the bypass pin inserted and the ground crews job...
Sorry my ignorance, but why when the engines are with that power (like the video) the airplane doesn't move? 🤔, I mean how much power need to move it? , or it has a break or what, I don't understand... , and another question when an airplane engines are turning slowly very (slowly), it's dangerous getting close it for someone? I love the airplanes but something I don't understand, I just ask
At idle power with the parking brake set, the aircraft won't move. When the engines are off but spinning, it is not dangerous to walk near the engine because there is no power and the engine has no suction of air. If the engines are running, yes it's dangerous to get close.
The 747 literally changed the world we live in.She will always reign as the queen of the skies.
Sad they’re being used for cargo now.. QFA gave their last 747 a flight this year on August 5-7
Why this plane is addressed as "she" or "queen" when it's a super macho "jumbo jet" :)
gaurav shandilya shes a fat queen
At least the queen if the skies is still operating
And the King is the A380
The 747 is a magical machine...can’t believe they were conceived in the early 60’s and have been in service ever since!! Remarkable...
This is a rare perspective of plane videos to find on UA-cam, especially for a 747-8i. Good Job.

Shehzad Akram yes sir, u r correct.
@@Max-eu9ge they do they us it to get to US destinations like new york and san Francisco

Trump will be big pimpin in two custom air force 1 747-8 in 2021

She? She? Really? It's 2018 and you are still using gender labels. You are a male chauvinist pig.

Yeah it was pretty awesome servicing Air New Zealand’s all black 787!
Hands down, Concorde and the 747 are the most beautiful and most iconic airliners ever built.
The P-38 would like to have a word with you.
I would put the A380 in with that group, and being old enough to see all 3 fly i feel blessed.

Thanks to the late Joe Sutter, the father of the 747 who created this wonderful machine.May his soul rest in peace.

Holy shit, it does! 🤣

I did this back in 1971 from this same airport in a brand new United 747......... one of the first ones to fly the LAX to HNL route.
I'm from Korea, and I love Korean Air and B747-8I!! This is wonderful video!!
Last of the grand large aircraft. Great perspective otherwise never seen. Thanks for the upload.

Not the weight of bar, but the pull force.
Nice vid, hope to see more ;)

Nice to see start from windmilling opposite and leading edge slats extended!
OMG. Good video. Nice view
The korean 747 left honalulu and they used the 777 on this route but they brought it back in fall 2018 as a fall and winter seasonal
My first flight on 747 was on the 400ER, very few in the world today. It was QF75, seasonal but great.
Thank you for the awesome video that is a awesome view I always wanted to see that, I appreciate that thank you.
Right on the line! Nice job, driver!
This was awesome!
AWESOME pushback and "4 good starts."

Boeing is also the creator of the A10. A serious piece of military hardware
The A10 Warthog?
🤔
Awesome!
What a beautiful boeing 747!!!
That airplane is so beautiful.
Great seeing the engines starting. Do they all spin in a clockwise direction (viewed from the front)?
I don't know haha
Yes, viewed from the front they all spin clockwise. You can tell by the white stripes in the engine nozzle.
This video was so visually satisfying, I watched till the end, the sound was kinda blocked out by the truck but it look so good, it dident matter
fantastic footage
About 2-3 feet of ground clearance on inboard engines! The Queen!! Finally got a chance to fly her 2 years ago JFK-FRA.
Best job in the world. Right airport, right airplane!
Absolutely bad ass :) I have only flew in one 1 time and that was from LA to Honolulu! what a treat it was!
Thanks I love Honolulu was there in2000
Going to miss flying on 747's the start up sounds are so different to other aircraft such a nice vibe you get. They are such a pleasure to fly in.
korean air!!!!!!!!
Just effing awesome!!! Let the Queen fly
This plane is currently on route from soel korea to frankfurt germany. Its at 32,550 feet and 434 kts

ok..so why does the front right tire look bald asf??..do they not do a inspection prior to takeoff?
Does it push back pretty straight? I pushed back a 747-200 quite a while ago and it wanted to go everywhere except for where I wanted it to go!
I did not push back the aircraft. I was taking video.
Damn. That was badass.
Super,super video.

Is it me, or does the left front tyre look like it is on its last sector? Super video
No
is ture that the apu gives power to the cabin and things in the cookpit or no
No, the APU is used to start the engines.

I love ground staff duties
The front right tire looks worn and bald. Is this acceptable?
the right side engines first rotate counterclockwise, then they stop, and start running clockwise (around 2:20) Does anybody know why ?

You would get tired of it
Engine start sounds like a spaceship
Well done bro
cool vid! hnl is my airport
Can anyone explain why the fans was spinning in wrong direction then they stopped and started spinning correctly?
The fans flow freely with the wind, when the engines start, they spin in the direction that the engine turns them.
That's like moving a building on wheels.
Best plane ever built the 747, even the President agrees with this......
Must be impressive to have this enormous plane in front of you when you have this job
Yep done it for years .
