      Honestly it took me years to realize every common cg method of conditioning and styling were the absolute wrong things for my hair. UA-camrs with perfect curls will have perfect curls regardless of what product or method they use. UA-camrs in their 20s have the best hair of their entire lives, no wonder their results always look good. UA-cam won't put normie curly people in the search results, they'll only put the best heads of the thickest hair in the results so you'll definitely watch. I eventually just accepted that nothing exists to change my hair onto hair that it is not. My curls are ugly, even at their healthiest, its as simple as that. Its fine, I've just gone back to an easier and less mentally stressful place of living.

      @@artax9683 my hair is super thick and coarse but I even still have days were I think it looks ugly and it’s all frizzy. Frizz will always be my thing and even after embracing my natural hair for almost 6-7 years now, I still haven’t found the perfect product that gives definition and volume while also being frizz and flyaway free. You’re right, a lot of curly and wavy hair UA-camrs/influencers aren’t fully honest about what actually goes on with their hair behind closed doors. I also think edits and filters are used a lot too. It’s so unfair as they get away with it. They know what they’re doing too, and it’s sad to see “normal” ppl like you and me struggle with all these insecurities and intrusive thoughts. The over moisturization was the thing that killed my curls

    Hair masks abbbssolutely over-moisturised my hair, leaving my waves frizzy and undefined, but I thought I had to be using them even MORE because I was trying to copy influencers with much curlier hair types. The change for me was actually embracing my natural wave type and leaning into the routines and products that I liked - not others!

I have low / medium porosity, 2B type wavy/ curly hair and for the dryness I had a hair stylist tell me to use the Helene Cholesterol hair mask and I did but made my hair very dry, when I told her this she told me to just keep using it and that it will make my hair better in the long run but I don't agree. I since clarified and used my other deep conditioner and my hair was so much better after.

    I love your informative videos. You have been so helpful to me since my curl pattern is so similar to yours. I saw recently that the squish to condish method actually applies to the rinsing method not the conditioner application according to some people. It involves cupping water with your hands and then putting parts of your hair in the cupped water to rinse out the conditioner rather than just letting the shower rinse your hair. I have found this method to be tedious and time consuming so have stopped doing it.

    I'm late, but I'm loving these tips, mainly the claw clip right after the shower ❤❤ and I have 2 tips I love doing on my curls:
    1) using the hair mask before the conditioner, that way I don't have to spend much on conditioner given the hair mask already does what the conditioner does, so using the conditioner becomes optional (to a point I don't even buy conditioner anymore, I just use a hydration hair mask);
    2) acidify my hair, now I know this may sound weird, but by doing this once a month I feel like my hair gets less porous and the hair mask effect lasts even longer, plus it tones down my frizz;
    Congrats on the new house btw 🎉🎉

    100% agree with adding water on top of conditioner! I shampoo, add conditioner, then pin up in a huge claw while I soap/shave/whatever to my body, then when I let down my hair it needs something more before I can comb it through, so... more water! I use a pretty thick conditioner (Wella FusionFlex), so a little water thins it out after it's done its job so I can actually get a wide-tooth comb through it. My hair is longer than yours and a bit thicker, but not quite as wavy, and it is freaking hard to comb without a lot of slippery goosh! 🙂 And those roots take freakin' FOREVER to get dry!

    Thank you for this video! You and your hair are stunning!
    Thank you for stressing that it depends on your hair! I always say every curly head is different!
    I have fine hair w/ medium density and high porosity (from coloring).
    For me, leave -in conditioner is a must (Giovanni Direct Leave-In™ Weightless Moisture Conditioner. It's a MUST for my hair). BUT curl cream is not. I can skip curl cream completely.
    For diffusing, I use the Remington D3190 Damage Protection Hair Dryer with Ceramic + Ionic + Tourmaline Technology. It comes with a diffuser attachment and costs $19.16 on Amazon. It does the trick!
    LOVE your videos!

I've tried cleaning better there with scalp massager and serums, treatments, and oils but nothing has helped. In FACT, it seems worse after a good cleansing??? Have you ever experienced this? Cause and treatment?? I can't tell if it's the products or the diffuser heat?? No dandruff or oily scalp btw, my hair is VERY porous and dry.

    I apply my ton of conditioner, work it through & then in order to comb it through, I get my hair wet (step INto water & right out) in pretty warm water (Luke warm the rest of the time). I use a wide tooth comb to get through it & THEN rinse it pretty well. I do a second conditioner (a thick leave in), squish to condish & rinse that but leave a nice slick. Wrap my hair 10-15 min while I dry/moisturize & then go in with products. Indias methods are "Holy Grail" for me❤

      😬 I'm no expert but try shampooing with like the blue suave clarifying shampoo but do it bent over with your head hanging. I've been told the hair follicle is oval shaped for curlies and this helps to wash the underside of the follicle. Hope that helps!

    Talking about throwing money down the drain. Why would you use a hairmask after you've had a conditioner in ? I mean doesn't a conditioner close the cuticle layer of the hair ? And you wouldn't get an effect of the hairmask ? 🤔 Just asking

    Why don't you just use a shampoo brush to massage in the serum.

      what I was trying to say is that hair masks are expensive, but you can’t wven get the benefits from them bc of your dirty hair. Where as if you use an oil, while it is expesnive still you can actually reap the rewards even if your hair is dirty. Hope that makes more sense! And that you can get something helpful out of this video I worked very hard on

    Using the claw clip is so much better than trying to add water back after the towel absorbed it.

    I love educating my patients, so I’m not being mean, just trying to help..
    It’s “SEB-OR-REE-IK” dermatitis.
    I would want to know if I was making videos, and I’m sure there will be times you have to say it again.

    Diffusing hack: I lay on my bed with my head over the edge and use my space heater to dry my hair. Dries super quickly and my arms don't get tired :)
