    I've put over 500 miles on my Bandit in about 5 weeks. I love the feel of this bike. I opted for the cafe racer bars and fairing and I really dig how you can stretch out on the bike. I would love to have more info on how to upgrade the motor/batteries.

    I did register my Bandit with California DMV and got insurance for it as well through Foremost Insurance by way of Gieco. Liability coverage only per year is 84 USD (that is of course with my experience, age, and record etc. ). Well worth it.

    I would save it once a person has explored all their local areas that are open to bicycles, these expensive mopeds don’t really make sense. Something like a 150 cc class scooter is loads more practical: no range limits, no cold weather issues, no huge battery expenses. Just regular cheap and easy maintenance and a cheap ongoing costs for registration and insurance.
    Cost too: you can get a 150 cc class scooter and clean used condition for less than the cost of one of these with a questionable battery.
    I say this as a new owner of a Juiced HyperScrambler 2 and as a former motorcyclist and scooterist.

      Unfortunately neither will make a dent for the environment. Sedentary civilizations desertified the fertile crescent thousands of years before petrol. We will still be increasing the unnecessary suffering, evil, and environmental destruction after all vehicles are electric. "Progress" itself is incompatible with either human or environmental health. Disney movies will still fund genocide and the sexual slavery of children, and the spread of suburbia will continue wiping out habitat for all other species, and the industrial food production required for our bloated populations will still be unfathomablly unsustainable, dependent upon petrol for NPK synthesis, and requiring monocrops and herbicide/pesticides. You, your culture, and your values (if it includes participating in society to provide financially) are bad for the environment period. And ev won't change that one bit. You were lied to in school about a great many things. Not on purpose but because your teachers were also ignorant and lied to.

    I like that the bike is made in USA. But I don't see the "next BIG thing" part of it. There are other bikes with similar performance available. Having a VIN is cool, but I don't think many people will actually want to plate their bicycle. As a registered motor vehicle, it would no longer be usable on bike paths. What is the innovation that makes this the next big thing?

    • @CitizenCycle925

      @CitizenCycle925 I agree that the registration ability is nice, even though I doubt the usefulness of it. But aren't all ebikes customizable and upgradeable? I'm pretty sure that I saw a cool guy on UA-cam with a fast dual motor old Radrover that upgrades and customizes all sorts of ebikes.
      The Bandit looks like a fun and fast ride. I hope you have a good time testing it out. Since it came with nice suspension, lights, and brakes, it needs less upgrades than most bikes. I appreciate the nice review of a nice bike. Great editing as usual, too. Next big thing? Agree to disagree, lol.

    Customizable, tough as nails, and I loved the brakes on the Bandits I've ridden. Pedal assist setup is odd, but their engineer Matt is a genius, so there may have been other limitations or directives he had to accommodate. The way I did my setup is to use a mode switch for class 2, class 3, and unlimited, then have the pedal assist control how much power you get instead of speed. Great review my friend!

  • @randynovick7972

    Will it cargo? Gotta say, all that extra seat length is just begging to be sacrificed for a more utilitarian rear cargo shelf/container than that flat accessory shelf they have hanging off the back (hiding the rear light). Looks like I'd have to drill my own holes depending on my panniers or bungees or baskets, and there's no real apron or support on either side of the accessory shelf to keep rear bags off the wheel. Also, I like the standard battery position down low where the weight should be, but the dual battery upgrade puts the second pack up high at handlebar height, wasting the chance to use all that great space inside the frame and keep the CG low. I really like this concept, as a well-powered platform on which to do many things, but it seems like there are some overlooked opportunities. Nice bike! I hadn't been considering Spark in my search, but they're in the running now.

    • @CitizenCycle925

    • @jimmyjames8736
      @jimmyjames8736 Рік тому +1

      I think the main thing that has held back LFP battery use in ebikes is the difference in energy density. Since they provide less watt hours per kg, the equivalent LFP battery is larger and heavier than lithium ion. There have been improvements in LFP energy density, and they will be available in some EV autos and trucks. Our relatively small and lightweight ebikes make packaging a bigger and heavier battery more of a problem. A fat tire bike like this does have the room and weight capacity for a 3kwh LFP setup, but it would be very heavy and look bulky. I also think that it would work out fine, though, lol. You would get extra years of usage and safer charging in exchange for some performance loss due to weight.

    I've watched a lot of your reviews with interest, but I've got to admit I have reservations about this bike. You touched on it with your comment about "heavy" steering.
    It seemed like there was a lot of vibration and wandering laterally in the tires/suspension when you were at top speeds even going straight ahead. Road surface really affected grip. It would be even more disconcerting to me if pavement is damp or wet. The diameter of the wheel/tire is probably too small for my comfort. Something seems off in the suspension or the tires, which results in that vibration.
    And I would hope the suspensions front and rear have lockouts. When you were pumping the pedals to ride without throttle or PAS, the bike suspension really dipped. I wouldn't care for that "bottoming out" feeling. I'm 6'5", 215 #, so I think it would be worse for me than it was for you. This ebike has a place for people wanting sporty usage and short trips, but for me my Aventon Aventure 2, with larger diameter tires and frame/wheelbase is better and more comfortable for the longer trips I take. Tbh, the 40+ mph seems much less safe on that smaller ebike, even with the better brakes it has than mine does with its 32 mph top speed.

    • @af3787
      @af3787 Рік тому

      I've also experienced some lateral movement at high speeds. I have the zig zag tires and cafe racer bars with the fairing. I spend a lot of time at around 38-40mph and that vibration and movement can be a sudden problem. Other than that no real problems with the bike.

    I have bought ebikes with adjustable seats because I would like to move my legs a little. I can't stand when my knees are in my chest. My knees get worse every day and these moped type bikes just don't make sense to me. I live in an area where there are steep hills. I would need like 40ah battery to do all throttle all the time. My weight isn't friendly to any ebike.

  • @JeremiahMcintosh

    Hey Brian looks like an awesome bike but I was surprised with such a big chainring in the front but still what looked to be a 14-28 freewheel. 11-28 would’ve been better for the higher speeds but I agree most people buying this bike wouldn’t pedal anyway.

    It’s usually just a plug to disconnect if somebody wants to disable the PAS. I did this on my cadence PAS e-bikes. If I want pedal assist, I’ll just turn the throttle while I’m pedaling. This allows for more exercise if PAS isn’t torque controlled.

    Too bad about limited PAS levels. This is one of the few "mopeds" that could be converted to backrest recumbent with tilted back handlebars. 60T chainring should be standard on every class 3 bike. Long seat does allow for tall people pedaling, but good shoes and "low leg extension" allows spinning faster than tall position even though much less torque can be applied. The only downside to 60t chainrings is that its not easy to have those ring chainguards with it.
    The PAS programming is aweful even for customers like yourself (lazy American, sorry). You still need a 10mph max setting. Beginners especially.

Even kids 12 years old. And under 12, no E bike for you. When you get these things going over 30 miles an hour, you’re begging for that to happen. The problem comes in when you start getting these bikes there, fast enough to be on the street, governments going to step in and start regulating them. They are already pushing this in California with AB 530 that if passed, will require even a 12 year old to get a state issued license to ride an E bike that they will have to take a test for.
