My dad's from India and was a huge boxing fan, he was also someone who never showed sadness. I never saw him cry in my life, until July 1, 2009 the day alexis arguello died, it was the one and only time I saw my him burst into tears. Rest in peace dad I love you so much and rest in peace to my dad's favorite boxer, the gentleman of the ring 🙏❤
Thanks. We the Nicaraguan people are very happy about Alexis, he was a true champion, we will never forget.
Wow Rip your father viva nicaragua Alexis el caballero del ring
It's the Nahua blood in us, the Nahua people are warriors, proud of my Nahua heritage 💪🇳🇮
The great Alexis Arguello, one of the forgotten all-time greats. I consider him one of the 4 kings of Latino boxing, along with Duran, Chavez and Monzon.
Salvador sanchez? Ricardo finito lopez?
Duran (Panama), Carlos Ortiz(Puerto Rico), Alexis Arguello(Nicaragua), and Jose Napoles(Cuba)
There are many excellent ones but these four are the best in Latino boxing history
This guys not forgotten by any long time boxing fan, that straight right was like a sledgehammer with speed.
No true boxing fan or historian have ever or will ever forget Alexis Arguello. I never saw him fight in person but 99% of his fights were televised and are available to watch.
His first war with Aaron Pryor will never be forgotten.
RIP to "The Explosive Thin Man."
He's definitely a top 5 jr.welterwright of all time.
MIKE TYSON just got all choked up and teary eyed speaking about Alexis to his son and Ryan Garcia, Mike said this guy inspired him to be a boxer
yes tyson brought me here
@@jl1876 same
Man I love Mike but he says that for every legend nowadays
@@D.-NeverGoBack-there’s a lot of legends in boxing 💯
Alexis Arquello the greatest super feather in history and probably the greatest gentleman of the Ring. We don't have more boxers like that 🙏
Alexis is my favorite fighter of all time and one of my personal role models. One of the classiest men to ever lace up the gloves.. beloved by his opponents just as much as his fans. He made everyone feel like the most important person in the room and it breaks my heart that his life ended so tragically.
He was something special, to be sure.
Floyd said if he could fight anyone, living or dead, it would be this guy because he respected his skills so much.
I always bring this man up when talking boxing. Most everyone says "Alexis who?". I can't believe more people haven't heard of this great boxer. I loved watching his technical prowess. He was one of the greats for sure. Aloha!
He’s probably become my favourite past fighters to watch and study
Only the greatest super feather weight in history. You are right 👍
@yaderblen2890 Aloha my friend!
I was always a fan of Arguello and I was crushed when he lost to Pryor twice, but he remains an immortal legend.
People point to those losses as though Alexis wasn't a great fighter when in fact no one gave Aaron Pryor a harder fight And forget the fact that no one else would fight him.
@@megsmith596 Agreed. He tagged Pryor with some hard shots. He was an artist in the ring. I wonder what would have happened if he and Duran ever had a scrap.
panama lewis "gimme the bottle, no not that one, the one i mixed" aaron cheated
Arguello won’t be forgotten. He was both beautiful and devastating to watch. He will always be a legend. RIP campeon. Great video!
My dad loved watching Arguello when he was active. His boxing skills were fantastic, he carried a ton of knockout power, and was a genuinely caring and respectful man.
El Flaco Explosivo was a legend.
A A is one of my FAVORITE Boxers EVER ! Only 1 word describes this BOXER's Skills : BEAUTIFUL ! 😊😀😃 .
Ruben Olivares, Rafael Limon, Bobby Chacon, Cornelius Boza Edwards, Rolando Navarrete, Ray Mancini...all were great fighters. They're fights with each other are legendary as well. Alexis Arguello destroyed every single one of them!
You nailed it
You could add Alfredo Escalara, Art Hafey, Jose Legra, Lionel Hernandez, Andy Ganigan and a whole bunch more. He didn't miss many. Something sorely lacking today.
This was beautifully done! AA was absolutely one of the best ever! Never forget the water bottle😢 What could've been!
Here from Mike Tyson
He and Hagler are my all time favorites!
The knockout of Rooney sounded like a shotgun. The precision in which he delivers the right cross is a thing of beauty!
Probably my favourite knockout
He could kill a horse
The greatest super feather weight in history
and Gentlemen of the ring Mr. Alexis Arquello ❤️
This was very well put together. Whoever did this, Thank You 🙏🏽
Was my pleasure! Thank you for the kind words!
@@BoxingLife I agree, well done! Where did you find this music? really enjoyed it as part of the video
As a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s Argeullo was my favorite fighter , id have my mom buy me that boxing magazine called THE RING!! HIM AND ALI REALLY INSPIRED ME AS A TEENAGER AND HAD A GOOD AMUETER RECORD AS A BOXER AND HAD A REALLY GOOD LIFE BECAUSE OF THE SPORT OF BOXING, AMEN AND GOD BLESS
Hermoso haber conocido vivo a Alexis , cuando era alcalde en Nicaragua, quizás tenía unos 16 años
Yes. A LEGEND.
I remember my dad back in the 70’s and early 80’s watching Arguello box. Watching him was like taking a live lesson in boxing, both technically and morally. The way he treated his opponents once he defeated them-such a Nobleman. I remember watching him live during his fight with pryor, that was such unjust, we all now know that pryor was taking some type of drug to gain back strenth during fight which was totally ilgegal yet no one protested. Life can be so unfair. May his sweet sould rest in peace until one day we all meet again. Love you champ, I will remember you in prayers tonight so your soul may rest in peace up in heaven.
You nailed it
One of Mike Tyson's idols
He was Beauty in his technique and was know as the caballero del ring ...he is the definition on how a boxer should be ...que viva Alexis Arquello
Thanks for educating us about Argüello. I grew up watching him fight. A gentleman outside the ring and a monster when fighting. RIP Champ!
Legend 💯 % but definitely not forgotten
My all time favourite. This guy was the nicest guy in boxing. A true humanitarian, and one of the classiest pugilists ever . Rip Alexis
I cant believe the commentator at the end didnt know who Arguello was. Mayweather shows he knows his boxing though.
He was a known talk show host. Not a boxing expert...
That was no commentator that was the one and only Larry King
That was Larry King, probably not a big boxing fan.
Arguello isn't a big name to people who aren't boxing fans. Most only know Ali, Tyson, Mayweather, Pacquiao, and maybe someone like Canelo, De La Hoya, or Foreman.
Larry King is apparently a boxing dork!😂
The thin man, El Chocolito and so many other names double AA was no joke and I am happy I was born in the generation to see he and other ancestors do their thing. I'm sorry he died so ingloriously. RIP to the memory of Mr. Alexis Arguello
absolute legend, one of my all-time favorite boxer-punchers.. great film study. starting boxing? study Arguello. Gone but not forgotten, RIP champ
I think him and Joe Louis are two fighters any beginner should study since their styles are so ingrained with fundamentals, and having that base is vital as your style molds into what works best for you.
Alexis Arquello was Joe Louis miniature. Arquello is the greatest super feather weight in history
The “Explosive Thin Man” they called him, what a fighter and from all accounts from people that knew him, he was the nicest man ever.
Great video on Alexis Arguello 👊🏻🥊
I am the biggest fan of Arguello. Loved his “ assassin “ style…. He was strategic in his approach and was deadly accurate with his straight devastating punches.
Not forgotten one of the all time greats the explosive thin man 🥊🥊🥊💥💥💥
0:57 just perfection.
Thank you for introducing the younger fans to some of my favorite fighters. I sometimes take for granted that everyone is aware of these great fighters. Ryan Garcia has a similar skill set and should study every one of his fights.
Thank you! Yup! R Garcia could pick up a lot from studying him. Especially vs the southpaws...😉
Ryan Garcia? The tiny flashy fast dude who's mostly fought cans and is completely unproven in terms of skill, chin and power? I can't see much similarity with the surgical præcision of Alexis Arguello.

Muchas gracias 😉
Arguello is my favourite boxer ever
what a masterpiece my friend, if alexis was alive he would love this beautiful tribute!🙏🙏🤝🤌🤌
Thank you Beto! I hope so 👊
Alexis Arguello was an All Time Great! A HOFr🏆
I, like many of those who watched Sanchez and Duran, Arguello exhibited the same range of admirable skill in a complimentary sense. That was an interesting ending...i d like to see someone like Mayweather fight against not just Arguello but those other two because there s just not too many people in the history of the sport who can fight at that level which draws people whom see the crossroads between skill sport approximating something akin to artistry. That has slowly disappeared and boxing culture, too. Nobodys fault , just figure that timespan was the end of the golden age. There have been great fighters since but the ones from that late 70s to mid 80s era are hard to overlook when compared to the history of the modern sport. Thank you for the video. It was a great teibute to a teue ambassador to the sport.
It’s a shame a fight between Arguello and Salvador Sanchez never materialized. That would of been a fight for the ages.
yessir
Arguello tenia un gran poder en ambas manos fue muy querido por ser un cabalkero dentro y fuera del ring era un clasico
Glad to see you enjoyed the film study everyone! Just a couple of extra things I should've also mentioned about the foot positioning of Argeullo vs southpaws.
*Common rule of thumb is the outside foot positioning gives you an advantage against southpaws (and vice versa). He would also be behind his opponents right shoulder by slipping left so they couldn't reach him with jabs or right hooks unit he was on the inside. Hence how he was able to set up the right hand so well. (T-Position) He would occasionally step into center line to mix thing up while throwing a left hook. But he did try to consistently be on the outside with his foot positioning, hence what made him so successful. (Just in case you were wondering why I highlighted the feet often in the video)
If you want to find out more about Arguello you can watch my style breakdown here: ua-cam.com/video/AdhN5gQFkbk/v-deo.html
I'm glad you highlight the footwork. The amount of people that overlook just how important it is to keep your lead foot to the outside with a southpaw so they walk themselves into a right can't be overplayed. That's the kind of stuff that makes it a science and Arguello one of its better teachers.
My Father Named me after this man I am glad he did because of him I found this beautiful sport so entertaining every time I practice I feel like arguello my self a great fighter 💯
Now I'm over 60.... When I was young, I watched Alex's fights and realized why they called him the Count of the Ring.
He was so gentle and cool that he always aroused my respect. The last fight against Aaron Pryor was my It has nothing to do with respect.
To me, he's still boxing's greatest hero. If he had been born in Europe or America, he would have been an even greater hero than he is now.
You might not expect it, but I have admired Alexis in Korea for over 40 years.
Te extrañamo alexi
My favorite boxer ever
My beautiful Nicaragua. Alexis ❤️
Still one of my favorite boxers of all time (I guess that means I am a dinosaur.) He delivered his dynamite overhand right from a low angle like it was a straight.
Dinosaur I always watch Dinah shore
Phenomenal!!! Loved this. One of the all time greats and personally one of my top five fighters to watch when I was growing up. Class act!!! 👏👏👏👏
Agreed 👍
Te amaremos siempre flaquito viva nicaragua grande Alexis Arguello el flaco explosivo el caballero del ring
El Flaco Explosivo 🧨
Great video as usual ! I too also agree with how precise and correct technique can make you a better fighter than raw power alone. Can't wait for a video on Dwight Muhammad Qawi soon
``The black bottle``. I relate him more, with the black bottle, because he was victim of one of the most notorious doping in sport history . Pryor got doped and stole him the glory....
Отличный выпуск..Спасибо ..Шикарный боец .
Outstanding work like always Jamie 🥊life🔥
Thanks Billy 👊
Very well done! I like Arguello so much, it´s unbelieveable that you now did 2 videos on him already! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Raj! Always appreciated
I love this man.. Hes been my favorite boxer since the day i discovered him many years ago. Watching his fights for the first time i knew in the first minute that the man was special.. I feel special to have the ability to spot an exceptional fighter.. turns out I wasn't the only one.. RIP my friend
Excellent Video Sir 🙏
Great video! One of my favourite fighters of all times. Congratulations for the great job and content you are doing. Greets from Spain!
Thank you very much!
Thank you for posting this Alexis was top drawer 👌
My pleasure!
The GOAT!
Clean, efficient and deadly. Perfect.
A very nice and satisfying boxing rhythm to watch and a lot to learn from him, he deserves more popularity... if you know any other legends that have been forgotten, don't hesitate to quote them to me !
I love ur videos bro...theyre so well done, I hope ur getting paid for ur talent.
EVEN IN LOSING THE FIRST FIGHT WITH PRYOR. YOU CAN SEE HOW ACCURATE HE WAS WITH THE RIGHT HAND AND HOW TO THROW IT.
Them angles 💯
Me recordó al flaco Carlos Monson : Campeón Argentino
Gran Campeon sera recordado x siempre
This video is really good
He has one my the best resumes I have ever seen
Nicaragua! What a legend.

2023 boxing video of the year
I hope the next video that you are going to upload is a Pernell Whitaker breakdown and also can you do also a Wilfred benitez breakdown
Genius posting that Floyd short bro✌️
I feel like floyd took some parts of his style from Alexis especially when it comes to precision and accuracy
Great video. I miss the narration but it is still very in-depth.
Thank you! I have another video with narration on him. This one just didn't feel right with it. My voice will be back haha
@@BoxingLife awesome looking forward to it. Keep up the great work brother.
That was beautiful
you did larry king dirty in the end lol
Larry should know! lol haha
Thanks.
Watching him fight on free TV was awesome. Making it hard to pay ppv for inferior fighters.
Here from Instagram 👑
If Roberto Duran was a killer then Alexis Arguello was an assassin.
here after hotboxin
HE LOOKS LIKE PEDRO PASCAL!!!
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🔥🔥🔥
Damn shame we never got to see Arguello vs Salvador Sanchez. Arguello was on his way out of FW while Salvador was on his way in.
Jorge Linares remembers me of Alexis
Cool, now i see the similarites to chocolatito..the greats teach future greats!!
What is the bgm? it sounds very good. i want to save
Like a all star pro baseball home run sluggers have a different sound when taking batting practice, Arguello's punches just sound harder with more pop.
Did you credit the music?
What song is this?
❤️🔥❤️🔥
If Mike Tyson rates him then so do I.
