You did a great job at editing the footage and incorporate the music of the corresponding game. Well done, this perfectly done video is what a perfectly well crafted franchise like Metroid deserves.
Just found this channel and I love it. My only criticism that I’d like to pass along is maybe putting more emphasis on when you tell the audience you’re about to start talking about a new game, sometimes I had to rewind to figure out when you started talking about a new one. Great video, dude. Please keep on going.
Yeah, and I heard it was ready a while ago, but they wanted to wait until Prime 4 is closer to being finished so they could release the trilogy to build hype. With all the Prime 4 delays they really should just give us the trilogy to help pass the time while we wait.
Through a pure stroke of luck (or fate), I got Metroid on Christmas of '91 about three months before I turned 6 years old. My mom ordered a copy for my cousin and the retailer accidentally sent her two. She pulled me aside and said that while she usually doesn't want me to see my presents before I open them, she had an extra video game and wanted to know if I would want it or else she would return it. I looked at a box with the name "Metroid" on it. I didn't know anything about the game, but I immediately said "yeah I want it!" because it was a freaking Nintendo game! And that's how Metroid came into my life. It's been one of my favorite franchises ever since.

If I recall correctly Metroids only evolve on SR-388's natural habitat. That is why Sector 1 from Fusion is a recreation of SR-388's habitat. In Other M, a plot point revolved around editing Metroid DNA (removing weakness to ice) so it is entirely possible that they were able to breed a queen from that even though it was not on the right habitat. As to why the hatchling was a bigger Metroid, I assumed it was because of Space Pirate experiments considering the size of the other Metroids in that game. Glad you enjoyed!
Good video. I don't have a GBA anymore but it makes me want to go try to set up Fusion on my 3ds.💚 I really hope we get a rerelease of the prime trilogy on the switch when prime 4 finally comes out.
I played return of Samus when it came out loved it and Metroid prime the only two I’ve played in the whole series but they’re some of my favorite games of all time.
I've only played/grew up with metroid and super metroid and man do I still suck at them to this day. But they have always been some of my favorite games ever. Maybe one day I will get more than halfway through before getting too frustrated!

I loved metroid 2 as a kid and still do. Not sure why it gets dumped on so much. I was a huge gameboy fan and this game solidified my love for the system, as a young kid.
It blows my mind that Super Metroid didn’t sell more copies. I think a LOT of kids got their SM fix by renting the game as opposed to buying it. This was the kind of game you could finish over a weekend without too much trouble, especially if you had a sub to Nintendo Power at the time. They had maps and walkthroughs for most of the game. The hype was through the roof and its a shame it didn’t sell as much as some of the other franchises on the SNES..
Metroid Fusion is my absolute favorite of the 2D titles. It's sublime & is very suspenseful throughout due to the fake Samus stalking you throughout the game. It actually doesn't make much sense why the fake Samus would save you at the end, considering all it's tried to ever do is kill you.
I mean the x are after Metroids. At the end, the sa x decided to "help" Samus by battling the Omega but actually the sa x decided to go after the Omega Metroid since it was the powerful threat there
Was Zero Mission really "well received" at the time? For some reason it sold less in the main serie. (Not included in the "milion sellers" entries, while Hunters is) Reading reviews, it was close to Fusion and praised a lot. So what happened? Just bad marketing/bad timing?
I assume it sold less due to the fact the market was saturated with Metroid games at the time, and that game was just a remake. Also, the GBA was winding down a bit since the DS would ship a year later. Critically though yes it was well received.

It's a bit confusing too, because one would think that right from the beginning a side scroller where you shoot things while looking like a futuristic robot thing would be more popular than a game like Zelda. Then again, Zelda at least has a defined identity as an adventure game that takes place in a medieval setting. Metroid's problem might be that it looks "cool" on the outside but then when people play it they realize it's not quite the Contra style game or Halo style game they expected. Meanwhile, people who like the Zelda's of the world might think it is just another futuristic action game or 1st person shooter.

To be fair, Nintendo did wait until AM2R released. I think they wanted to keep the Metroid rights under lockdown but didn’t want to punish the fans for making a game. It’s a compromise. Once it’s out there it’s out there forever. Nintendo knows this. They get to keep the rights under lockdown and AM2R circulates anyway.
I'm actually happy that they didn't get an N64 Metroid title made, the blocky polygons would not age well. This way we had the whole Prime trilogy on the Gamecube / Wii with smoother graphics and gameplay.

I've always wondered what that "other company" was that turned down the opportunity to make a Metroid 64. My first guess has always been Rare, but I really wish/hope the exact details will be revealed someday. Someone should ask Sakamoto who exactly it was that turned it down.
I'm from the Future. Other than Super Metroid, AM2R is probably my favorite game in this video. I get why Nintendo hit them with a DMCA, but damn it's a great game. In my head cannon, this is the official remake, not Samus Returns.
While I love the hacks that have already been made for the original Metroid, specially the ones that added a Map to the game, I still REALLY want to see someone add the ability to crouch and shoot! Not being able to do that is a SUPER pain in the ass & keeps me from playing the original very much. It would be a LOT more fun if someone would add that into the game via hack at some point. A full screen map to reference would also be great instead of just the tiny little window we get via the hack.
This video is getting a like for not blaming Team Ninja for Metroid Other M's shortcomings. To me, the game mechanics were rated alright to good, while the first person did feel kinda thrown in haphazardly.
I agree. Other M is by no means a perfect game, but gameplay wise it had some pretty cool ideas. In the end, I think people are a little to hard on the final product
I disagree about Zero Mission being the way to remake a game. It was cool for what it was, but it was not the same game and could have just been rearranged and titled something else, especially with the awesome stuff that happens after Mother Brain is defeated that wasn't in the NES version at all. The original was a totally different game and I would have preferred a remake more like how Super Mario All-Stars updated the NES Mario games without really changing the games, just updated the graphics and sound quality.

While Super Metroid is not the holy grail of the series, it is an awesome game and is my second favorite Metroid game. The Holy Grail of the series is Metroid Prime 2. No, I’m not some stupid ass young kid who’s 1st Metroid game was prime. I’m 45 years old and have been playing the Metroid games since the 1st one on the NES. And my favorite thing about Metroid games that caused me to fall in love with them is the feeling of isolation,dread, and being stuck somewhere on an alien planet. And the only way to survive is to prove why you are the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy. No other Metroid game does this better than MP2. Plus all of the awesome mini boss and main boss battles along with Dark Aethers toxic atmosphere and the higher difficulty level, no other Metroid game puts you in that dark place like MP2. 🤯
While I love Super Metroid, I agree MP2 is amazing. I honestly go back and forth between MP1 or 2 being my favorite of the series. I actually talk about it a bit in the Prime Keyboard/VR video I made. I can definitly say Echoes is the most punishing, and has the best atmosphere (post Agon Wastes that is). I absolutely love Sanctuary Fortress and Torvus Bog. Also, Echoes has the best power suits in the whole entire franchise

The Zero Suit was not named after that game. It was called Zero Suit in Nintendo Power Magazine articles back when the series was young.

Metroid prime is my favorite Gamecube game. It's the sole reason I kept my gamecube....out the gba player.

It was cool for what it was, but it was not the same game and could have just been rearranged and titled something else, especially with the awesome stuff that happens after Mother Brain is defeated that wasn't in the NES version at all. The original was a totally different game and I would have preferred a remake more like how Super Mario All-Stars updated the NES Mario games without really changing the games, just updated the graphics and sound quality.

While Super Metroid is not the holy grail of the series, it is an awesome game and is my second favorite Metroid game. The Holy Grail of the series is Metroid Prime 2. No, I’m not some stupid ass young kid who’s 1st Metroid game was prime. I’m 45 years old and have been playing the Metroid games since the 1st one on the NES. And my favorite thing about Metroid games that caused me to fall in love with them is the feeling of isolation,dread, and being stuck somewhere on an alien planet. And the only way to survive is to prove why you are the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy. No other Metroid game does this better than MP2. Plus all of the awesome mini boss and main boss battles along with Dark Aethers toxic atmosphere and the higher difficulty level, no other Metroid game puts you in that dark place like MP2. 🤯
While I love Super Metroid, I agree MP2 is amazing. I honestly go back and forth between MP1 or 2 being my favorite of the series. I actually talk about it a bit in the Prime Keyboard/VR video I made. I can definitly say Echoes is the most punishing, and has the best atmosphere (post Agon Wastes that is). I absolutely love Sanctuary Fortress and Torvus Bog. Also, Echoes has the best power suits in the whole entire franchise
