    Excellent kit.
The 1/2 inch ferro is really the best size, and the BlastMatch is an outstanding piece of kit.
I like to keep a steel for making flint-and-steel fires. It will virtually last forever and if you can find a sharp rock, you will always have a spark.

    1, fire bow (friction)
    2. ferro rod
    3, lens
    4, potassium permanganate & glycerin
    5, matches
    6, lighter
I carry char cloth, waxed cotton pads as well as lots of tampons because they are so compact and fluff up well when unpacked.
My thinking is opposite to yours in that I’d attempt to use the hardest method first because friction is renewable and the other methods are gone once they’re used up. The easier methods would always be last resort as a fall back.
    Great info though.

Absolutely, we do practice more traditional methods but convenience does make different situations easier. Knowledge of how to make fire is the core foundation to focus on!
