This is the path that led me to build an electronic Drum kit 2 years ago. I wanted a Kick and HiHat pedal to trigger sounds. Grabbed an Alesis Nitro brain and voila
May add a small video frame in the bottom left or right corner of your foot. That way the viewer knows what’s going on. Funny thing is that I was debating getting an expression pedal for my Rytm. Not for finger drumming but for adding more expression to a programmed beat
I've been learning finger drumming with my 8x2 horizontal pads on the Novation Launchkey (and launchpad) and man I just feel shame watching you work. Your timing is impeccable with the drums
Keep practicing :) No need to feel shame! Keep in mind I'm coming in with 20 years of experience of actual drumming haha. Just keep working at it and you'll see improvement!
Love it! I think you should start a finger drum dawless channel, or focus on that even more here cause that is your strongest card I would think. It is so much related to the drums to be able to build a good track and get the dynamics from start,.
@@FreeBeat it has 4 zones. I think it’s the kmtp1 but don’t get me to lying. I’ve always used it as a percussion module with my acoustic set. You can play it with your hands like a djembe or bongo also. Which is how I’m using it except 2 snare zones 2 Tom’s and bass drum input.
That is genial, I tried before using a sustain pedal as kick pedal in a PC and it works also unfortunately is not velocity sensitive, and also using a pedal basic on/off midi triger, they are very cheap, but of course it lacks the proper real kick pedal feeling and no velocity.
Update: I found a Alesis Trigger IO at guitar center for 40$! I couldn’t believe it! And it works!!! Now I need a decent kick trigger. How do you like the Yamaha? It’s looking like the most affordable that isn’t crap. Thanks again man!
That’s a pretty handy tool! I’m trying out finger drumming literally just today for the first time on the Akai MPK25 with Garage Band, it’s SO fun! I’m a far better finger drummer than set drummer and that’s super exciting.
I got myself an NI Maschine a while ago, and I feel I could use an extra pedal with it (or two). My choices are exactly these 2 devices, or either a Keith McMillen 12 Step. At the moment I'm using a simple sustain pedal connected to a midi keyboard as hi-hat pedal. I can open and close the hi-hat with it, but it can't trigger.
Very cool, even though I’m not a drummer and I’m horrible at finger drumming, this does free up a finger….Mmm. If I can play descent wah wah stuff, I could do the bass drum pedal trigger. Thanks for another great Mpc one tutorial.
Very very cool! I have a similar set up with a high hat pedal too running through the Yamaha multipad 12 so that’s my version of both the Alesis and the MPC combined. Lol I’m not worth a damn at it but it’s there should I choose to practice it!
Do you think you could use the footpedal to change which drum kit is selected but when you let go with your foot it goes back to the original kit? I am trying to get it so I can flip through drum racks in Ableton while I'm finger drumming at the same time essentially giving me immediate access to more samples that I can trigger without having to go through a menu or twist a knob with my hands.
Are there other midi controller pads that this set up would work with? I cant see myself shelling out $699 plus the pedal and trigger IO just to add a bass pedal?
What I am choosing to take from this is: you can plug a kick pedal into the MPC, therefore you can plug TWO kick pedals into the MPC, therefore the MPC can be used to play Speed Metal.
Hi! So its not possible to connect this pedal directly into a midi keyboard or drum pad controller? I must have some kind of other gear to use it? I would like to plug it into a midikeyboard or drum pad controller, and trigger the kick drum in ez drummer in Cubase!
If the drum pad controller has additional trigger inputs then it will work just fine, but whatever it plugs into needs to have have a proper external trigger input to convert the trigger data into MIDI.
@@FreeBeat ok, thank you! i hope abletone Live could give me possibility to use it for the kick. As i saw theres also ddrum ddti (which is copy of alesis i guess) and eDrumin4 with a program on pc(dont know can it actually help me)
maybe you could easily keep it from retriggering with a piece of plastic and duct tape^^ before you have to relearn your foot movement. that would annoy me AF

Oh yeah, I love my Roland TD-17 so much! I figured this would be a nice combination of the two!
Absolutely amazing finger drumming. This is how it feels when I am doing it, but it's certainly not how it sounds, lol!
Very impressed.
Haha thanks so much! Keep practicing :)
Wow that's incredible! You are really good at finger drumming. Can't wait to for the next show💪

O.o Double kicks or not. This is a game changer. I've been wondering how to do this.

This is amazing!
Now I gotta get this set up.

Take an old Korg Padkontrol.Put a footswitch or Even a BD Pedal like yours im the pedaljack and it work also fine.🤗

Wow, cool Setup! Great Skills! Is it somehow possible to connect pedals directly to the MPC? I saw something in the settings talking about pedals!
I believe so, but I don't think it would work like I have it setup.
😍 funny 😍 i need this too! Do you know the fullbody musicians like the one man orchestre of the past? 🤗🤗🤗
I'm not familiar!
@@FreeBeat oh, you’ll recognize a One-Man-Band when you see it. Mr Orkester is pretty cool, and I’m about to check out some videos by Anders Flanderz…
Great work. Do you have any idea if this could work with Maschine 3? Maybe without something without the Alesis in the middle?
I believe you'd still need something to convert the drum trigger signal into MIDI data, which is what the Alesis unit does.
Great man, thanks

Good video... it shows how versatile the MPC-One is 😁👍🏾. What's the layout of the pads for finger drumming?
It's the stock layout of the pro studio kit from MPC-samples.com

do you have any other suggestions? The Alesis Trigger IO and the Ddrum DDTI" are not available i order the Ddrum DDTI" been months
Any drum trigger module should work, it really depends on if you're okay with 5 pin MIDI or if you want USB as well.
This is rad
Thanks so much!
Are there other midi controller pads that this set up would work with? I cant see myself shelling out $699 plus the pedal and trigger IO just to add a bass pedal?
mpk25 can do that without any extras. i used a rock band kick petal with mine years ago.
The Alesis unit has more flexibility when it comes to programming my show, otherwise I probably would try to find a way to go straight into the MPC.
Do you consider buying another pedal ? having wireless pedals would be a bless
I don't really play double pedal so I haven't considered it haha.
