I agree on generalizations "the will of the people" being basically the "whatever I want" of some politician, but i reject his idea of individualism as I think all our thinking is lastly something created by inherited language and concepts
I think there are four problems with this philosophy that stem from the same source which is the Achilles heel of all individualism: 1. It is entirely possible that my own conscience tells me to reject individualism and align myself with a group in fact I think this is almost inevitable as humans evolved as social creatures 2. Our individual conscience is ultimately a product of those around us so even in isolation we are dependents 3. Collective group identities and interests exist in fact I would argue they are the most important ones 4. One individual may not have a great impact but a collection of individuals is what makes society. A rejection of political and social involvement on the basis of inability to change anything becomes a self fulfilling prophecy As you can imagine I’m not a fan of individualism and consider this philosophy to be fundamentally at odds with human nature
My God is my moral perfection My reason, my liberty... For those are the other names of my God . - Han Ryner Thanks for the video! I still recall mentioning his name in the comments on your Mainlander video ❤❤❤
Okay, so I've been a fan of Stirner for awhile and dealing with the issue of morality and being organically predisposed to compassion, self-sacrifice etc., and had arrived at a similar conclusion to this guy. And then the algorithm gives me this and reminds me how unoriginal I am. Can't wait to read him.
Thanks for the video, it was informative and has given me a new philosopher to research. Here are some other largely forgotten individualists and egoists to look into for future videos: - Sidney E. Parker - Renzo Novatore - Enzo Martucci - Dora Marsden - Georges Palante
Ignoring the existence of systems doesn't stop them from affecting individuals. Attempting to help individuals being hurt by a system without addressing that system is not wise.
What if the customer was a working as a waiter himself / in need of money? Shouldn't that give him a pass on tipping others? You could argue that the customer being a waiter himself for example, should make him understand of the struggles of waiters wages. And thus he shall tip like he would like customers to tip him. But.. isn't that a bit counterintuitive? He's in need of money, yet has the luxury to tip? Isn't it futile? His living conditions are unchanged. Not all people who eat from restaurants are financially well off, most are about average. This is why as a customer I shouldn't be obliged to tip if I can't. I went on a rabbit hole there lol.
wow, he already said things which im thinking about

I think Ryner's last point addresses your first point, in that if your individual conscience tells you to reject it then that's fine

Thanks for suggesting him
He reminds me a lot of Ernst Jünger, and the difference between the Anarchist and the Anarch

Oh shoot, I'll check em out!
Love it! Especially the silly and hurtful idea of not tipping the servers.
Tip culture is insane. It’s stupid and hurtful. Don’t blame those who reject it
Thank you!

Totally agree.

@briancooper2833 oh! I'm new to the channel. Gotta check those out. Thank you for letting me know!
He thinks like me, but like a lame version of my thoughts.
individualism is cool but then you either run out of money or end in jail
Or you fail to understand it and write lame ass comments.
Maybe the dumbest thing I've ever heard
Can you specify why you feel that way?
Boomerism 101.
Explain how.
