That Time Regular Show Made Thomas A Spy

- Thomas is a character that was introduced in a big way in season four of Regular Show. But for two seasons Thomas didn't get much development. Or at least that was until the Regular Show writers made Thomas a spy out of absolutely nowhere.

Imagine if Thomas has his own spin-off show
I’d honestly love that! It would have been nice to see more of his background as a spy, like how he was discovered by the Russian government and all the intense training he went through and the missions he went on and what have you.
Better call Thomas
@@NeaDann I like that name
The show should be called THE GOAT
@@User-endernothing2 Dude, nice 👍🙂
I loved the Thomas twist lol. He did absolutely Jackshit in the series and pretty much everyone watching the show forgot he existed until the spy stuff.
The only thing I hate about the twist is that Thomas had to ultimately leave the park just as he became an actually interesting character
@@Smith-fg1qb Truth.
THAT WAS THE PLAN!
That Thomas twist really came outta nowhere and I loved it. He was literally the background character for so long and then with a single episode and no warning or foreshadowing, that happened
actually, theres a fair share of foreshadowing in the show. for example his ability to absolutely body muscle man that one time
@@imanormalpersonYes, not only that, his plannings he did when they stole genes statue from his park, and the snow when rigby and mordecai went into his head, which didn't indicate anything but Russia is known for its winter lol.
Makes the joke about Thomas wondering how Muscle Man knew where he lived even better!
I love that he even was at muscle man's wedding
tbh the Thomas twist i liked the most because it was just SO random LOL
Yee
But they somehow made it work
TOTES RANDOM AND QUIRKY LOL JUST LIKE YOU HUH NOT LIKE OTHER GIRKS HUH LOLL
@@MarauderM00gi someone is clearly miserable and unloved at home, hope your parents show you the love and affection you clearly crave! stay blessed!
@@MarauderM00gior maybe a show where everything is supposed to be random is good at doing random stuff
I adored Thomas and wanted more of him , he was immediately my favorite character.
The twist of Thomas being a spy from Russia does fit with the many, many other obscure moments that happened within the show.
They must have ret-conned SO MUCH to make this work
Surprisingly, no because Thomas was in the background and didn't have very many focused scenes there was nothing to retcon, plus with him being a trained spy he'd know how to not break character
The only thing I know they retconned is him taking off his pizza costume before eating on the Thanksgiving special. In one of the flashbacks, he’s shown wearing his costume eating with one of the pepperonis being a microphone for him to ask Benson to explain how the park’s electrical grid to the “pepperoni”.
Everything else was cleverly hidden foreshadowing
the creators didnt actually want Thomas as a spy at the start, he was just supposed to be a regular intern until they later decided to give him more depth
so not even the creators knew he was a spy lol
Thomas truly is the GOAT.
No shirt dumb bass
"Exit 2b"💀😭😭
Fun fact Thomas was actually in the Muscle Man's wedding he was in a disguise the whole time in the background
i like how everyone forgot thomas but to me as a kid and even now rewatching the series hes one of my favourite characters
Originally he wasn’t gonna be a spy but for some reason that I forgot they just made him one 😭
The creator confirmed that there were no plans to make Thomas a spy at first. He was created to pay tribute to everyone who works on the show, who started as interns as well. However, fans complained that the intern was very boring and had no character development, so they invented the spy thing to justify Thomas' absence.
@@lautaroromero2964 man that's a raw message, the tribute being used to show that those employees that started as interns are really interesting in their own ways behind the scenes
Honestly I liked the addition of Thomas when season 4 premiered because I had just finished two intern jobs for my senior year of high school (food service worker at a nearby hospital and helping out with puppies at a dog day care), both which were wonderful experiences even if the former could get overwhelming at times, but that is food service for you. I was also starting my first year of college, so in a way, it felt like a new character I could really relate to.
That said, I was a little bummed he…… didn’t get much of a chance to shine at all in season 4, but I was happy to see that he was becoming more recognized in season 5, even getting an episode of his own when his job was on the line.
Regarding the plot twist, it shocked me when the episode first premiered. At the end I was sad to see him go and had a lot of emotions going on regarding his departure. But once JG confirmed the honest story behind the decision and rewatching the episode a lot more and going back to past episodes that gave some hidden clues aside from “Thomas Fights Back,” it made me appreciate it much more. And at the very least, he went off with a massive bang, even getting a chance to hide away from the CIA agents forever. So I’m glad to see it all played well for his character.
At most, I do think perhaps some kind of TV movie or spin-off show that showed more of his life as a spy would have been cool, but I don’t ever see that happening personally.
Can we just come together and realize how crazy it is that we find Thomas being a spy the most random thing vs every other episode. Not saying I like the spy I just found it funny that Thomas being a spy is the most random thing
Not a burrito it was a pizza pouch
That fact that this episode was banned in Russia was even more hilarious.🤣🤣
A FULL SUPPORTER OF THOMAS TWIST SPY ARC
I had to go back a season because one day regular show popped up on my tv, it was the guys night episode and i was so confused why Thomas had a russian accent 😂
For us(I live in South Africa)the Real Thomas never aired so I was also confuse initially.
The fact that rigby was the one to remind skips about something personal he shared between them, just goes to show how much even more of a W friend rigby was 💯
I don’t think it was random. They foreshadowed a great chunk of it during the episode where he infiltrates Gene’s park.
It was randomly thinked and created, but actually not random. As you might remember he was frequently talking to his mom through the series and this didn't have any contribituon to the show. Although it turned out to be the kgb.
I wish he had something to do in the big finale of the show. But his story was pretty great on its own.
I think it was really clever. A lot of people might criticize it _for_ how random it was but think about it, if they didn't do this spy crap with Thomas then he probably would have just truly faded into the background, which people would DEFINITELY criticize. So it was a way to make sure he wasn't wasted, even if it was one of the biggest "wtf" moments of the show but come on, that whole damn show was a "wtf" moment 😂
The episode is called exit9b
I feel like Thomas could've done something in the finale, even if it was just a cameo at the very end
0:52 dont u mean exit 9b?
I miss Thomas
This is funnily one of the most normal episodes
Awe i love what they eventually did 🥹 Thomas is great
Exit 9B
my favorite show of all time
You know who else got made as a spy?
i love how the writing on the russian sprinklers says "SHARP" and later in the episode rigby uses them to cut the rope. that is amazing attention to detail.
I'm surprised no one's said this, but why are the future versions of the Night Owl and The Urge there? The timelines were changed by the end of their respective episodes, so they technically shouldn't even exist.
It’s shown that alternate timelines exist at some point in the main timeline to allow the main timeline to happen. The guys went back in time and saw the rockstar versions of themselves teaching their younger selves. The Urge died before his timeline was deleted, but the Night Owl makes no sense. Funny thing is they got the wrong zombie boss in the final fight. They chose the one from the movie rather than the boxer who was actually real.
One thing I love about Thomas is how he has the same voice actor as Sonic - Roger Craig Smith
Crazy as hell
It would be cool if there was a spin off about Thomas
I remember seeing it live on tv it was the craziest twist ever 😂
It was interesting but was obviously random,Even though they did'nt plan it from the start they should have started with hints already when they did instead of the hints only dropping in the same episode of the reveal
Thomas is just looking at the park being sent to space in his submarine while drinking beer and he raises up his beer is there gonna be a season 9?
Nah the show ended like 5 years ago
They should make cartoons like this more but I guess cartoons aren’t like they used to cartoons had great story telling in the past.
Every generation says this lol
What modern cartoons do you watch? Teen Titans GO?
I can easily name 5 cartoons from the past 5 years with great storytelling lol. Just because you don't wanna watch them doesn't mean they don't exist

Pretty regular ngl
Ngl Thomas being a spy is one of the more normal things in the show.
I think he should’ve showed up when the park crews return from space
It's exit 9b not 2b
It wasn't random. Literally the first day he appeared he would do sneaky stuff like calling his "mom" and saying he has managed to get into the park. He was always secretive and mysterious. It was obvious he wasn't who claimed to be
the fact that sonic the hedgehog is a russian spy
I always feel that Thomas betrayed the park workers
0:04 typo...
the twist may be overrated but the execution was on point, I bet no one predicted that his character developed into a spy.
Making Thomas a spy as so random!
Last season: 😶
Put me on that outro song bro
Vlone Thugs by PerryVsTheWrld on Apple music
I liked the reveal episode cause two of my favourite voice actors were in it (Laura Bailey and roger Craig smith )
I like how they were all were working respectable jobs and went back to work at the park for jack shit prolly
You're complaining about how thomas being a spy is random
When the entire show is escalated randomness
It was 9b not 2b
When has Regular Show ever not been random?
Why Thomas was not here during the season 8
After 1 min and 19 seconds I realized Cartoon Network screwed me out of some episodes so I’ll se you guys later
Whats the theme music at the end?
nice
When the start of the Thomas is a spy I saw the credits where like Spanish or Russian like uiduhudeifjivrjvirfivhcyhcruhd jdejoduneocnuric jdwjjidu djiejidieujduije
i liked this because i thought he was a horrible character then that russian spy thing was random

beans feed you coffee from its tits, and the world rips apart if you don’t do someone a solid… all that is well and good but the second they make a character a spy that’s when the show gets “too random”? 😭😭
Tbh the show would've been still as good without thomas making an appearance
i hate spy thomas tbh, i liked when he was just the new guy
Yo man😃
I hate that twist so much.
Worst episode of the entire show by faaar.
