Demon blood sword honestly had to be my favorite sword fin used. Not only is it a gift from his father (from Jake's family) but also was a huge lesson for him to learn. He learned how to gain confidence through himself better and stand up to any challenge no matter what.
One reason I love adventure time so much is bc of how well they handle continuity and details. Any other show woulda just gave their mc a different sword every now and then that looks cool with no explanation, but almost all of finns swords have as much lore as any character in the show!
Agreed. Like even the Root Sword, when he replaces it with the Demon Blood Sword, we never see what he does with the Root Sword. Fast forward a couple of seasons and he's using it in the "Normal Man" episode. So cool to see

It’s eye acting like a compass to point to dark entities is excellent and it shows in how the eye, rather than being perfectly centered, is staring at Sweet Pea directly. Now that either means that the sword can sense the dormant/sealed Lich within him, or the Lich is closer than we think in the far future.
You saw that greenish-yellow tint when the grass sword and night sword collide? I like to think that's the night sword adapting and giving finn the stats he needs to go toe to toe with the grass sword. While it's not destructive, I think the night sword is the best in terms of defensive capabilites. A reason that sweet P may be weilding the night sword in the future is because of its magical suppression capabilites keeping the lich within him in check.
Didn't Billy's power gauntlet also have an eye too? I might just be making a weird connection but it seems like a strange coincidence that both characters, Sweet Pea and Billy who fought the Lich and keep the Lich in check end up having similarly designed weapons
A lot of people just really underestimate Scarlite (AKA the golden sword) for me it is an iconic sword and the most powerful after becoming the 4th dimension sword (a black hole) its my top one because how it is the first sword that interdroce us to the series
the root sword was always used as a substitute sword by finn whenever his current main sword is either lost or destroyed. I honestly love its design and its kinda sad that it gets abandoned in the episode where patience apepars.
Can you talk about the Adventure Time comic swords Finn uses? Because they get even crazier with their abilities. In one comic Finn gets something called the Ultimate Sword which is basically the Sword of Grayskull from he man and another he gets a sword called the Blade of the Defender which shoots lasers as long as he doesn’t get hurt, in the Simon and Marcy books he gets a literal dimension Sword which cuts a portal through dimensions and in the season 11 books he gets a Ribbon sword
My family friends had this sick collection of toy swords when we were younger bc their dad is a huge nerd (I am too and my family are not so this was greatly appreciated) and I’m just now realizing my favorite sword that had was FINNS GOLDEN SWORD!!!
Adventure time needs a epic RPG where you can play through as Finn, locate all the swords befriend PB and Marci ,travel to different parts of the world to all the different destinations epic boss battles and gear can always fast travel to the treehouse learn about magic and gain awesome abilities. Would be amazing
I'm pretty sure this can be used as a lessen for designing magic items for DnD. Most shows would either have a single change of sword in the form of a major upgrade or character moment, or they would have it be repeated as part of power scaling. This show however let's each sword be special and magical in it's own way, and while some are more obviously powerful, they aren't the main power scaling mechanic it seems, simply a tool to enable feats of the main character.
Couldn't agree more! I think the Adventure Time creators did such a good job at progressing Finn and a character. Like I think someone pointed it out earlier, but they could have easily just given him a new sword every couple of seasons, but each sword has its own backstory, which is so cool to see!
Honestly, the Night Sword was the peefect one to land on. It has a sleaker designs than the Demon Blood Sword, while still being very showy, it has magical abilites, durability and even sentience comparable to the Finn and Grass Sword, but without it being cursed or paradoxical and its also just an effective tool like the Small Sword It genuinely feels like a mix of the best traits of all of Finn's previous most notable swords.
The small sword doesn't only bear a resemblance to rattleballs sword it is rattleballs sword. In the episode where he died the swords design changed to have the gold guard and after rattleballs died finn took it

There were still other swords. When Finn was transformed into fire Finn, he sported a blue fire sword, he even had something similar before hand. An old sword was used by Finn when he was trying to kill Jake for the fight king, he later used the fight king’s magical sword and shattered it to kill the fight king. Finn also used a lightning sword on the infinite train and had some other unknown sword on his side at the time. In the future orb on the same infinity train, old Finn was using a gold sword of some kind. Also can’t forget about the two Jake swords. Jake sword one was to try and fail to kill the Lich. Second was shorter triangular sword.
This video was amazing, I can tell you love this franchise by how much effort you put into the editing! Sadly I just finished watching adventure time today (including distant lands) and I feel like I’ve been missing out for all these years lol, I remember wanting to watch it when I was younger but it aired pretty late for my age at the time. I’m now looking through videos of it and looking at how long ago they were made makes me feel like I’ve watched it too late lol. The night sword is the most disapointing one in my opinion. All the other ones had their time to shine and prove themself (even the small sword) but this one was used only ONE fraking time, we never see it's full potential or even in the last battle in come along of me. To me this sword didn't have any meaning and was there only to give fan service of finn vs fern in "gumbaldia"

I liked the Oot Sword but The Demon Blood Sword is so freaking cool being from the demon that haunted Joshua's and made from its blood is METAL AF. The grass sword is cool as its power but at a cost and the fact but became Fern is really cool. That's cool that sweet p gets the Night Sword.

Finn didn’t take good care of Scarlet. A good swordsman would’ve kept that blade sharp and repaired when those chips happened. Too bad the Finn Swore ended up merging with the Grass Sword. Its a super cool sword. Thankfully it returned after growing for 1000 years. Reunited with Finn in his, presumably, newest incarnation, Shelby. I wonder if Sweet P will tell them the story of Finn and Fern. And eventually Fern’s consciousness returns to it to guide Shelby and Beth.
Chips of those size aren't really repairable. Maybe someone in Ooo can do it, but chips that are nearly 1/4 through the blade can't be fixed in real life. Realistically, a sword with even just one of those chips would be retired as that is pretty significant damage.

Scarlet was probably my favorite sword. But with the Finn sword I thought it would have been entertaining if they mirrored Soul Reaver. Ice King tries to strike down Finn with the Finn Sword but it shatters against him. Left weak Finn's spirit briefly drifts into the low level Dead World where he finds the ghost of the Finn Sword. There it bonds to him and can manifest whenever he needs it, residing within him in spirit form when not in use. Then he goes on a quest to find the souls of other great swords to bind to his own. In the end the newly evolved Finn Sword looks like the sword from the title. Just like in Soul Reaver when Raziel binds his soul to the spirit of the Soul Reaver blade. Only there it's more like a lightsaber coming out of his hand rather than a physical blade.
One thing I really like is how no other sword feels like the grass sword. With the grass sword slicing and fighting felt effortless and more like the sword was doing the heavy lifting instead of Finn. With all other subsequent swords it felt much more like it was Finn's power and skill that won him fights.
I always like the parallel between the Demon Blood Sword that was forged forcefully and the Night Sword that was forged willingly. It highlight both the rise and the peak of Finn imo. Finn wielded the Demon Blood Sword after proving his confidence, and the Night Sword out of compassion to stop a war is mesmerizing But even with that being said, Grass Sword and Finn Sword remains as his most iconic swords imo
The red blood 🩸 sword goes so freaking hard bro.. I want them to add this to his character in multiverses so bad.. all of his swords are unique in their own way. But that particular red demon sword has always been ingrained in my memory.
Great vid. The swords deserve more time, but with how it feels like a fantasy game or DnD it feels realistic how they change them up. Even them treating the enchiridion like a paper weight later feels legit 😂 the cool item just gets added to the wares
Funny how Finn's journey began with a cool heroic sword that'd look perfectly at home in a high fantasy setting and ended with the total opposite as his personal journey became darker and darker.
The Night Sword almost reminds me like a smaller version of Soul Edge. A demonic sword with powers beyond imagination, AND with an eyeball in the middle
My favorite sword has to be the Finn Sword as I always viewed it as a symbol of Finn's growth and self actualization, literally coming to wield his own heroic spirit as his weapon of choice. Then it only got more interesting when it fused with the Grass Blade and became Fern.
I believe Finn actually still has it! And he uses it occasionally even after he lost the Finn Sword. I like to think he still keeps it with him as an emergency weapon.

Great vid. The swords deserve more time, but with how it feels like a fantasy game or DnD it feels realistic how they change them up. Even them treating the enchiridion like a paper weight later feels legit 😂 the cool item just gets added to the wares

Funny how Finn's journey began with a cool heroic sword that'd look perfectly at home in a high fantasy setting and ended with the total opposite as his personal journey became darker and darker.

Demon blood sword and the grass sword are, in my opinion, the best looking and the best concept
My favorite sword has to be the Finn Sword as I always viewed it as a symbol of Finn's growth and self actualization, literally coming to wield his own heroic spirit as his weapon of choice. Then it only got more interesting when it fused with the Grass Blade and became Fern.

I believe Finn actually still has it! And he uses it occasionally even after he lost the Finn Sword. I like to think he still keeps it with him as an emergency weapon.
