That Time Regular Show Had a DARK Movie
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2020
- Regular Show was one of the very few Cartoon Network shows from the 2010s to get a television movie, and not many people talk about it. So naturally, we will! A time travel story that shows us the downfall of Mordecai and Rigby's friendship, with a lot of dark, awesome moments that showcase Regular Show at its best!

I really do believe Regular show was the best show Cartoon Network ever aired, the premise of it alone was enough to keep me waiting for a new episode every week, and then the fact that they were able to do nonlinear and chronological episodes, holiday episodes, season finales, special movies and episodes and make them even better then the last and to finish it off they managed to end it in insane way with the whole pops thing in season 7 and 8 just had me speechless and happy with the good ending yet tearing up since it was the end. @@royalpain9281 The concept of being sent there to study parks and steal it and bring it back to Russia was ok. But it wasnt something that was led up to over time. Man, The scene where Rigby read the letter was just so gut wrenching
How his tone gets sadder and sadder, how benson grits his teeth
Benson was like: Geez, Sorry man this is heavy
It was really sad
They straight up roasted rigby. Questioning if he could even read the letter… that was rough
I laughed hard as shit. Rigby was a terrible friend for ruining Mordecai’s chances to get into his dream school.
What makes it even more sad is that everyone else looks at each other in pure sadness, not feeling bad for Rigby but for Mordecai cause he could’ve had a better life if it wasn’t for Rigby
Regular show, man that last scene where the whole main characters get together to take a picture, and pops saying Good show while taking the VHS tape froma TV in the heavens really got me crying. Cuz the fact where there was no more add-ons to the series.
The end of Regular Show almost feels like the end of Cartoon Network's Second Renaissance. During the time it ended, Adventure Time entertainment value was kind of sagging, AWOG had an uneven release schedule, and Steven Universe was beginning to waver in quality. Not soon after all these shows ended as well.

It's been known since basically the beginning of Regular Show that Quintel initially pictured the show to PG-13 and had to tone it back to make it appropriate for CN, but the movie really put on display the true talent of the writers who managed to focus on more mature, dark topics that were understood and appreciated by young adults but still went over the heads of the younger, technically target audience of CN.

@@gilbert3672 I watched it when I was on vacation in the hotel tv in Florida. Hilariously Florida is where I first got into Regular Show as I watched an episode for the first time in a hotel. I think it was the one where Thomas was revealed to be a russian spy
I remember watching the timer for the movie on Cartoon Network
I'm not gonna lie, certain scenes of this movie made me cry, like the moment where Rigby didn't want to go to college without Mordecai after finding out that he got rejected, like that moment where Rigby was reading the letter and the moment where Mordecai yelled at Rigby for what he did.
The reason i cried was because it reminded me of my worst fear ever at the end of middle school, the fear of growing up and the fact that i couldn't go to high school with my friends because i didn't want to talk to them about it made it worse.
A lot of people around me kept telling me to enjoy my childhood while it last because time flies and i didn't understand what they were talking about before the end of middle school.
I was scared of a lot of things as a kid but my fear of growing up was the worst one because unlike horror movies and urban legend this nightmare was real.
I didn't expect a Regular Show movie to get that deep but after all these years i'm glad i could see it after the nightmare was over, i mean i'm 21 and i'm still a Sonic fan rewatchnig the first 3 seasons of Spongebob i grew up with.

Did no one realize that the future resistance is just part of the space park program
Oh I noticed that shit right away. Really awesome how they planned that out before season 8!
It's because Regular Show Movie takes place after Regular Show in Space... It is the timeline where Pops survive the battle against Anti-Pops... Mordecai and Rigby mentioned this for a brief moment in episode 1 of Regular Show in Space...
The funny thing is, I now want to write a fanfic where Father Time protected that future from the effects of Pops and Anti-Pops rebooting the universe.
@@alexiscando5709 At least there is an alternate timeline where Pops doesn't die 😭
Honestly, it's more like Crisis on Infinite Earths. (Hey, 80s reference!) New universe, somewhat different.
What I referred to is the Legion of Super-Heroes way of resolving it: The Time Trapper, a longstanding Legion villain, protected their time from the effects, and it turns out he's Cosmic Boy, the leader of the Legion. Zero Hour gets trippy (trippier) from there. In the end, the new Time Trapper is Barbara Gordon. But we never see her again.
I realized, they can both be awful friends to each other. This movie is one example and when Mordecai put down Rigby when he finally decided to get his shit together and get his high school diploma.
It's not as serious as those examples, but there are also plenty of times throughout the series that Mordecai just plain ignores/ghosts Rigby in favor of trying to pursue Margaret.
The scene where he read the letter made me cry. Also, for some reason Benson’s expression just gets me.
Man, I feel like exit 9B should’ve been the final regular show episode
yup. the final season with the gang going into space was waaay out of left field.

the movie also foreshadowed that the park gang would go to space
The movie takes place right after Regular Show in Space where Pops survive the battle against Anti-Pops... Mordecai and Rigby talked about it briefly in episode 1 of season 8... This movie is basically an alternate timeline but Mordecai and Rigby did confirm that the timeline don't exist anymore since they changed the past by Rigby apologizing to Professor Ross...

When I was little, I would always love to see the show and movie, I figured out how to record back then so I recorded this, this was a great childhood. But seeing this, this changes everything. What I remember as an innocent (yet hilarious) film, to a complete game changer.
I had so much respect to the development crew for keeping the quality of the movie the same as an episode of the show because most movies for shows occasionally have that movie charm with higher graphics and different feel for the writing and I was just happy to watch a movie as if it were an episode of the show.

Coming from someone who is disabled, that rejection letter hits me the most, because of my constant struggles to maintain the prerequisites necessary to qualify for college. I had to struggle and study hard to even qualify, and because of my disability i had to work twice as hard. Despite many people having their own struggles and hardships, everyone still deserve a fair chance to continuing their education and improving their lives with newfound knowledge and skills, no exceptions.
Rigby on the other hand got the worst of it. No appeals, no second chances, not even so much as getting in with at least a GED. That rejection letter straight up told Rigby that he will never get into college no matter what, and even though it wasn't explicitly stated, the context within the letter shows that Rigby is illiterate, retarded, incapable of learning, and has no future, period. That is way worse than working a dead end job, because that would imply that this is it for Rigby. He has no future, no hope, and no chance of ever improving. Anybody receiving that letter would kill themselves on the spot because of the harshness behind the statement, and despite this being an overexaggerated rejection letter to knock Rigby down a peg, that doesn't change the fact that this sort of rejection does happen in real life. Thank Primus that there is professionalism in the real world so that these kinds of letters don't ever reach optimistic candidates, but getting a rejection letter is still hurtful, and can ruin any hope for anyone getting into college.
Everyone deserves a fair chance at continuing their education, no exceptions.
Also at the end of the movie rigby flying off like that’s is a back to the future reference it took me a while to realize it
I remember that the voice actor of Finn from Adventure Time did said that they were in production for an Adventure Time movie and was announced that was true shortly afterwards but as time went on I think safe to say that the movie got canceled

I also vaguely remember that the seasons after this movie focused more on the gang's personal lives(most notably Rigby's graduation arc in the 7th season) and less on how Mordo and Rigs mess up on work, mostly being late, meaning they continued using the time machine ship and never missed starting work ever again, and almost every episode starts in the afternoon or so, a time where all or most of the chores have been done already
