What Linux Distro are you currently using?
EndeavourOs
arch
NixOS
Archcraft : Based on Arch ❤❤❤
Manjaro GNOME😊
Been a Debian user for 25 years, probably will be for another 25 😁
I have used debian for a long time, but jumped to arch for 7 years now on my main pc, but all my streaming boxes still run debian stable.
Switched to Debian 12 when it was released.
You said that Fedora has a rolling release model, but that is incorrect. Fedora actually has scheduled releases in its main edition. It does have an edition with a rolling release model, but that's not the edition that's promoted on its web-site.
On a different note, I'm surprised you didn't mention Linux Mint, which is a pretty good version for people coming from Windows.
You've got a natural talent for connecting with your audience. Impressive!
appreciate the kind remarks
Fedora + Hyprland 🎉
I'm currently using Mint but will switch to Slackware tomorrow so I can have a 'Linux of the SubGenius' sticker on my laptop.
Haha! Love it
Ubuntu stripped of snaps with vanilla Gnome Desktop on a Lenovo P50 workstation laptop.
I really like the minimalistic approach of Fedora, yet being almost at the bleeding edge of updates. I always want new Features dropping soon but not being buggy.
My second choice is OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. More up do date, a rolling release but still very stable.
Nice work mate, have a great one.
Its easy, if your new to LInux then its Debian, LMDE, Fedora, Pop!_OS. If you are an intermediate user then EndeavourOS, more advanced Vanilla Arch. Ubuntu is on the never install list as they want to be MS or Apple and force things on people to try and do it.
That's both the beauty and curse about Linux, the sheer choice that people have with regard to the number of distrbutions.
Pop OS
Garuda for about 2 years on my desktop, a varoety of distros on laptops, but i think ive settled on NixOS.
It’s pretty solid. I used Slackware in ‘95, Debian ‘99, RedHat ‘00, Debian ‘01-04, then took a break until 2020. Since then briefly Ubuntu, Suse, Fedora, Manjaro but NixOS has lasted about 3 years now :-)
Which distro is right for you? It can be any as long as you feel comfortable using it. For me i feel the most comfortable using debian.
6:15 the host name is visible, censored two out of three times
Which one are you currently using?
I’m between arch and pop for the most part. Using Axarva’s dotfiles on arch
Manjaro has been and will always be my distro...a truly gaming powerhouse
It been about 2 months since I pulled through the habit of distro hopping. I use Ubuntu nowadays and plan to keep using it. Candidly, It's not that bad even with snaps.
How is the theming with snap now?
I heard that snaps dont respect your theming
@arnorobinwerkman Is that so? I don't use Snaps. The reason I said snaps aren't bad anymore is because their booting time is now at par with flatpaks/deb packages. But their mount loop shenanigan is still atrocious.
OpenSuse kalpa, Nixos rolling, Aurora-dx and OpenSuse micro os
Hi everyone, I have a question, I started learning Azure Microsoft Az-900, networking and I would like to learn Linux. I'm a complete beginner and I don't know which distribution I should start with? Can anyone advise me? My goal is to work in Azure in the future.
Arch ❤
Long time Debian user here, though I've used all major distros and still use more than two for different tasks.
You misspoke right at the beginning, Slackware is not based on SuSe but SoftLanding. It's also a stretch to call Suse the first enterprise distro, as that's not the market it was serving when it was first released (I did buy a copy after all). RedHat started the next year and did directly target business infrastructure from the beginning.
It's strange that you set Fedora apart from RedHat though.
Two things keep intriguing me in this world: 1) number of Linux distributions; 2) number of Christian denominations - I began with SLS over 30 years ago, quickly moved to Slackware, has been through many alternatives mostly Debian or Debian derivatives now using Gentoo :-)
Fedora Workstation. Debian Server. Preference is for vanilla Gnome on Wayland.
I currently have pop os, mint and ubuntu. Installed on different machines. I do think all new users should be directed to ubuntu or mint to start with, for their ease of use for beginners. I would say pop os!, but I had difficulty installing it on a pc with only 2gb of ram. I had to install it using a second pc onto an sd and clone it. Therefore, sticking with the other two distros for a beginner is safer.
Opensuse gnome
Q4OS trinity
Debian gnome, kde, mate, xfce, cinnamon
Puppy Linux bookworm edition. My all time favorite
How do Slackware and Debian compare? Seems like you made same points for both of them.
Debian>Slackware.
slackware is like debian but more technical and difficult to get into
according to the video that is
I keep to Community Distros. In other words I avoid all Corporate stuff.
OpenSUSE Tumbleweed laptop. Debian 12 server.
PopOS, Arch, Proxmox 🎉
I never distro hope, I will change distros if my current is np longer supported for my hardware.
For me OpenSUSE TW
Manjaro Xfce👍
Pop os
Excited for cosmic?
Okay you really got your facts wrong abut Slackware, his name is Patrick Volkerding NOT just Volker! Yes it was based on SLS but is NOT SuSE based as it predates SuSE by a number of years!
Endeavour 3yrs
NixOS tho
