A fellow local! randomly came across your videos as I've just picked up a folding bike and this exactly what I would love to do! super helpful as I would start around Deptford
I've been meaning to spend a weekend at Almost Wild for a while now. I recognised some of the route through Deptford(I live in Ladywell). The Lea Valley is a great route out of London. Fab video!
Good vibes! If you're looking for a similar route south, there's a nice camp site off the Pilgrims Way called Badgells Wood, which has a quiet/adult area at the furthest part from the carpark and kids. From there you can go to Dover or Folkstone in a day's gravel/bikepacky ride along the North Downs. When I did it I went from there to Folkstone and reversed the last section of the North Downs, this is a good section of mostly fast gravelly bridal way and quiet roads.
Good to see you riding round my neck of the woods🤣 not the most exciting areas I’ll admit (broxbourne and Hoddesdon) but it’s good if you want to get out of the busy aspects of London quickly. Give us a shout next time you’re around!
How heavy was all the bags and equipment you had on the bikes? Did that affect the riding a lot? I wantto bikepack, but have never had anything on the bike with substantial weight before.
I didn't weigh it but on a previous trip the fully loaded bike was around 20kg (the bike is usually around 11 i think). The route I did on this video is entirely flat so it didn't affect the difficulty at all (although you can feel it in how the bike responds). A route with more climbing would be a lot more of a challenge for me!
@@JakeMay Aww ok thanks dam, that seems like a lot of weight haha I am goingto need to get on my bike with some bags and see how it goes, thanks for the video it was great.
That brought back some memories, from when I used to live in Tottenham. My go to route to get away from the traffic. Nice one!
Thanks! Agree it's a great way to escape the traffic
Nice panniers and rear rack

16:55 🤣 🤐
Nice ending - oh geese !
Very nice video ! And nice trip too 🙂
Thank you for your support as always!
Nice one mate. Coming from Sydney where our city is spread out over many kms, the idea that you could ride 34ks and be camping in bush is bonkers.
Cheers bud!

Great vid mate, you're really opening my eyes to what's accessible for a bit of fresh air near to London with these bikepacking vids. Nice one
Cheers George you kind man
Broxbourne to Waltham Abbey is a good ride
Nice maybe that'll be the next stop on a future bikepacking trip!
@@JakeMay in fact the full ride from Hertford to Waltham Abbey via Ware and Broxbourne is a highly recommended

Heading up the river is a great option! Last time I came I did a really nice walk too. The pubs... maybe less up my street 😅
