This has been a genuine carnage project in every way, stick with it, love the trials and tribulations, makes me feel like I'm not alone when things go wrong with my cars....
hahaha On a future episode of Dumpster Fires!!... oh my gosh Scotty I feel your pain mate, been there so many times, its soul destroying. How ever true to form, you always bounce back and sort it out. I look forward to seeing that. Have an Ace weekend fella 😆👍👊
been subbed since the OG taxi build. you have learned so much i reckon you can make this a fast car this time around i mean it was already fast but your current builds have been insanely quick scotty
What a timely episode, just about to replace my radiator, water pump, hoses and pulleys in my FG, the tip with the water pump bolt hole is awesome, I was wondering if you could do it in the car. Thanks Scotty👍🏻
I’ve had a couple of early barras that don’t even have that little saddle clamp on the back of the water pump or even drilled for the threaded hole. They were still genuine pumps on them. Still got one somewhere in my stash haha.
Two things I'd highly recommend doing and only because I've proven it works. An inline efi fuel pump between the tank and the converter is an absolute must. If you don't, the gas will boil in the tank and cause cavitation in the feed supply when you need it most. The pressure sensor doesn't compensate for that. Water injection is also a very inexpensive way to reduce the combustion temperature, which will keep the piston crown cooler. A cold piece of aluminium is a load stronger than a near melting one. I'd do it for you if I was close enough. Love your work
Liquid form lpg in the injector rail is the trick. Once there squirt it in with vialli 1000cc injectors. I would use a last model fg fuel tank which came with a built in electric pump to an external 044 through water cooled into the rail.
These are the type of episodes that make me feel good and prove to me that I just need to keep going with my ute rebuild and one day I will drive and race it again. All the world needs a Scotty and a turbo taxi. Don't change FFS😂
Had that no start the other week... load of shopping in the back, did all the diag and was the starter trigger wire, little sand on the terminal and a half twist on the wire to make it snug.
When I did the water pump on my G6E-T, I had no idea that hole wasn't tapped until I was trying to put a bolt into it - I ended up giving up and just putting a bolt, nut and washer through to hold it. No doubt wherever that engine ended up, someone thought "what a f**k*ng bodger!". I kinda figured it was because I'd bought a fairly cheap unit off ebay - good to know it's "normal" - though also disturbing...
Professor Dumblescotty and the magic serpentine belt! Ignition barrels are normally a Holden problem so I understand. Don't set it on fire just yet cos you'll get it going. Good job with throwing everything back on the Barra.
Run a set of injectors for oil injection and the top end will be indestructible. Only downside is that the plugs can't be read and timing might have to be advanced.
Oh yeah mate, these things have big problems with ignition barrels at age. IIRC it's steering column replacement by factory, but I think there's aftermarket ways around it
my fg had a problem like that. i drove it to the pub n went to leave and it cranked like that. i took it to auto elec. they said the key has a low battery and isnt reading but would lock unlock ect
I just chucked a Pulsar 3584 Gen 2 with External Gate/Screamer on my Grandpa Spec BA Futura BTR. Only running 7psi for a start, but im still scared for the Transmission 😅
@STREETMACHINETV won't be more than that yet. Doesn't have Valvesprings so I'm aiming for 250rwkw then I'll collect some more parts and go from there. Gets tuned monday
Scotty, is the FG ignition switch prone to failure like the BA one is? If so, might be time to rebuild it, or replace it. I've rebuild one, and on another BA, I replaced it with a switch from a 1994 ED falcon. Yes, had to modify the wiring a little, but it works like new.
People give up on the zf instead of getting them built to handle 1500hp/8sec full weight, it ends up costing similar amounts, but you get the inconvenience of a 3 speed with no overdrive with a th400! And the FG also had a 5 speed btr type auto too.
@STREETMACHINETV i will admit my 2010 i can turn the key to start and flick it back to ignition and engine starts so its got my thinking is it electrical connector on the back of barrel or computer issue
I'm running a built BTR from DTM Transmission runs grate good for 650hp but o know the oner was running up 800hp in his EF street machine did a article on it, that's how I found out about it
So what stops the rear main seal pushing out / leaking on the Barra? If you can push it in by hand, I would expect some kind of bolted down cover over it. I am guessing the steel plate between the flexplate and the engine does that?
@@STREETMACHINETV well unless you have some significant blow by, it probably never will be a problem, but that goes for any engine leaking out the real main seal.
@@TheNuggetProject you obviously never owned an early Holden V8 with the rope seals. Those were very hard to make not leak. After fitting them you need to tap them with something round to get them to fit right into the groove. The later model rubber ones were much better.
I'll put $2.50 that it's a dud starter. I had a BF that sounded similar. Pulled the plugs out and it cranked over fine but when it had compression, it would crank a little and that was it.
Scottles, waddaya prefer - in order of preference: spannering, racing, cruising, or being a UA-cam superstar?? Also, can you use either Spice Girls or Tay-Tay for your background music, so that I can 'get my girl on'.. ? 😁
I've never understood the fascination with titanium it is a shit material to work with. When machining the titanium valves on the race car (frequently had very small bends, sometimes they were Z after a meeting) trying to machine a smooth finish on them is a lot harder than a regular stainless valve. I can understand not using regular steel nuts on the exhaust studs, but I don't know if titanium is the answer for everything.
Sons VS key doesn't work for his brother. Sons been driving it for a year, no issue. Moment his brother uses it, nothing. One of the weirdest things I've seen.
I literally cracked up out loud when you said the car “might be running, or it’ll be on fire”. We’ve all been there at times.
"It might be running or it might be on fire". Had me in stiches🤣🤣🤣
Same here! 😂 when I travel interstate I take 2 Jerry cans of fuel. One to fill it and the other to burn it if it doesn’t start!
This has been a genuine carnage project in every way, stick with it, love the trials and tribulations, makes me feel like I'm not alone when things go wrong with my cars....
You'll be right Scotty. Walk away and come back with a fresh mind. This taxi is going 10's for sure I have zero doubt.
Cant get enough of the Turbo Taxi Scotty, got my S M T Shirt thanks✌

Love a bit of shifter action in a Friday morning
keep it LPG! it's the only original idea on YT
I do have an idea that could keep it LPG, we'll see
Good to see the cab back!
That was a nice kick to the guts (or good cliff hanger), to wrap it up 😂
Hell yeah bro! 😎
Love it when Scotty working on the falcon 👌
13 BOOST! 💪
At least you are still able to make a joke even though you are probably serious about the fire😂😂
I love this man. This is a safe space 😂
Scotty always manages to raise the bar 😁👌
What a timely episode, just about to replace my radiator, water pump, hoses and pulleys in my FG, the tip with the water pump bolt hole is awesome, I was wondering if you could do it in the car. Thanks Scotty👍🏻
You can, I used a long 10mm plumber's tube socket trimmed it down a wee bit to fit in and bingo easy as.

I think you've mentioned this before, were you the one who recommended an 044? I need more information on that.
Yep, yep and yep.
Liquid form lpg in the injector rail is the trick. Once there squirt it in with vialli 1000cc injectors. I would use a last model fg fuel tank which came with a built in electric pump to an external 044 through water cooled into the rail.
@STREETMACHINETV I've mentioned it several times. Originally, I did the inline pump for nitrous for maintaining the pressure without a bottle heater.

Cheers Pat

Gotta love the spanner throwers and the words engineers are called under the hoist!!!
Did you try unplugging it and plugging back in? Tap it on the side? Blow in the cartridge to get the dust out? ctrl+alt+del?
haha
Tap and die set have left the chat.

The supplied bolt is a thread tapping bolt🤓
@@jimclarke1108 Ah well, in the best spirit of Ford engineering, what I did worked 😀

fix the hook on the engine crane ,been like it for over a year

I guess I better start calling around
Great video guys
Used an older barrel switch, soldered the wires n happy days. The BA onwards self destruct.
Where have you been? I ordered a lift 12 months ago

Last Sunday? yeah, it was good to get out
@STREETMACHINETV think it was in the last two weeks. Good to see the ute out n about
did you forget the block to battery earth strap?
Scotty, is the FG ignition switch prone to failure like the BA one is? If so, might be time to rebuild it, or replace it. I've rebuild one, and on another BA, I replaced it with a switch from a 1994 ED falcon. Yes, had to modify the wiring a little, but it works like new.
Putting a barra in a ma70. Yes i smacked the temp sensor. Good advice uncle scotty. But expensive? They are $15
Genuine ford is definitely more expensive than that

Yeah the 5-speed was only in NA cars, not sure why they bothered with it to be honest.
was not from BTR, the 5 speed was from Asin and was used by both GMH and Ford and also Volvo.
Being a fg falcon the ignition switch should be able to easily be changed out, I put a fg steering column into sons bf for that reason.
The ignition switch can be rebuilt had my bf done the guy showed me it’s not to hard the re bend the tab areas at the rear to put them back together
FG are different and very easy as have a replaceable ignition switch
Scotty mate…. It’s time to Godzilla the taxi. We need a Aussie first FG Godzilla boosted and swap documented.
We've talked about that, but they're a very expensive swap.
Nice oil filter Scotty! 😉
Yea im gonna say the starter motor could be tired, or its a compression issue aka to much, but ditch the key and go 4 ignition button set up
I think it's the key, I was stirring that thing like it was a spoon in porridge
@STREETMACHINETV i will admit my 2010 i can turn the key to start and flick it back to ignition and engine starts so its got my thinking is it electrical connector on the back of barrel or computer issue
If it goes ‘brmmmm’ I’ll call that a success 😂
And what if it goes BOOM, Scotty?
Then we call that ‘content’ 😂
You got it
🤣 🎉😢 Scotty hit the key, it went boom and he cried all the way to Street Machine Finance Dept to ask for more money!
What was the 5 speed auto in the first of the FG.
Not sure who made it
Some more skids please 🎉

So what stops the rear main seal pushing out / leaking on the Barra? If you can push it in by hand, I would expect some kind of bolted down cover over it. I am guessing the steel plate between the flexplate and the engine does that?
Nope, that just stay there most of the time. Occasionally people have issues but we've never had one

@DodgyBrothersEngineering 100% I have not haha
it might be running or it might be on fire, maybe a mix of both if all goes pear shaped

That would be interesting
So next week will be a car or cooking show, interesting.

engine earth?
barrel only triggers start relay
But the key in the barrel is like stirring a bowl of porridge so it only connects randomly
